Shoegaze bandleader: You are the missing cog for which we have searched

the mothership is unironically fantastic
His face when he plays it says it all
You could totally play the san andreas theme song with it
At first it quacked.
Cat_Is_Alive I literally thought the same thing dude! Lol
Instant gorillaz pedal
I love how nonchalantly samurai will insert jokes and insults into his descriptions of the pedals. Keep up the good work!
absolutely !!!!
Your profile pic just made me have munchies for waffles

One day there'll be a Devo cover with an astral whip
One day
I think I might be the man for the job
How is your comment 18 hours older than the video?
Whip it
Kain Fowler he’s a very old goat.
@@kainfowler3686 patreon patrons get early access
3:51 need more of that ''Samurai's Lullaby''
Tamal Hasan sounds like something out of Steven Universe or Adventure Time
@@dudedude64 reminds me of the music from Mario 64
It gives me some awesome Legend of Zelda vibes.
3:10 I hear GTA San Andres theme
Yeah, it sounds like early 90's G Funk.
Sounded like "Nuthin but a G Thang" by Dr Dre
2:47 this video sponsored by McDonald's
Oh man that's too funny. Didn't notice till now but now I'm lovin it
AHAHAHHAHAHAHAA
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who spotted that.
Subliminal advertising.
Ahuaahuahuau
Does anyone else think the “Astral Whip” sounded good?
Muakeirebu
Extremely good!
It did. And it's the sort of thing that inspires you to think about weird ways of making music!
Astral Whip is RAD !!!
@@chronicwaterdrinker7015 *mūakeirebu, which, if translated would be Moore Caleb. I think he meant "More Caleb", but who knows, Katakana's weird.
“The sounds of your guitar losing a knife fight.”
That got a genuine chuckle out of me.
Same here brother
Jesus Christ died for your sins please repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand 🚧⛽️🚈🚈🚥🚆🪝✈️🚤🚢⛴🛳🛥
So what sound can you make with your guitar?
Samurai: Yes
EGd GeM wow that’s hilarious thank you for sharing

He talks in pedals
Shane Nomad i sang it lmao
This is what you get

I approve this message.
Yay, Radiohead.
AND BUZZES LIKE A STRING, HE'S LIKE A DETUNED EVH
I want an entire solo album based around that whip. Please, become the music god you were meant to be. Become the Samurai Whipist
hi knight
3:10 Swine ‘em & Dine ‘em sounds like something from a regular show episode
Or a GTA Theme
7:15 sounds like when Rudolph's nose starts shining in those stop motion movies
Lol
When I first found out about the astral whip, I just couldn’t stop thinking about using it onstage during a gig, and just praying everyone didn’t get up and leave
Bro if you do it as well as he did it would be dope af I
I live in Cyprus and I would travel anywhere on Earth to see an entire Astral Whip show.
1:42 Someone call Kirk Hammett.
3:08 Someone call Herman Li.
3:52 Someone call Buckethead.
6:07 Someone call the guitarist from Muse
7:27 I've got no words.
the last one sounded kinda like this one song by Gojira, it sounded like harmonics.
Me too
David Nwokoye The guitarist from Muse is called Matt Bellamy

Dude. The astral whip bit was GLORIOUS. I broke out in applause 👏
I've shown so many people the Astral Whip.
You should have used all 5 at once to create the soundtrack to a sleep paralysis nightmare😂
Oh god
I love your dry humor haha its like your pretending to be one of those boring tech reviewers except you are funny
Singer: *mic drop*
Sam Urai (guitarist): *hose drop*
7:42
Who else comes back every now and then just for the Astral Whip song.
Literally did that just now lol
Wtf happened to the fretboard @ 1:04
Woah thats weird
Wat the hell
Someone call the FBI
Probably a glitch in the matrix
I think it's an intelligent cut that can automatically "seamlessly" cut two clips together, it just accidentally moved part of the fretboard when he moved his arm
great video. good laughs ... but all kidding aside, you nailed how to demo weird pedals!! job well done
5:49 matt bellamy called, said he wanted his effects back
Damn you're absolutely right. Especially the earlier albums
I think he actually owns this pedal, I saw it on equipboard once.
@@jonahlouque9621 no way really??? that’s actually insane and i may actually have to get one now
@@rats1131 Matt’s signature guitar pedal is the Fuzz Factory, the Probe is just a Fuzz Factory with a sensitivity pad. They’re basically the same thing. You can hear the stab sound in the intro to Plug In Baby.
i'd lose my shit if i was at a concert and they brought a vaccum hose out holyy
The First pedal has Tom Morello written all over it
Where at? I looked again but I just can’t see it. ???
@@sryburn641 he means that Tom would of used it, as it is his style.
@@SlyHikari03 I looked everywhere but I just can't find it. I don't see Tom's name anywhere on that crazy pedal.
@@SlyHikari03 but how can Mr Morello use it if his name isn't on it?
The Red Panda Raster is an amazing pedal. You can use it as a chorus, phaser straight up delay, tremolo, plus all kinds of weird stuff. Hasn't left my board since I got it about 4 years ago.
Actually I really liked this pedal :D the first effect sounds so dreamy
4:10 Mario death noise??
Nicholas Johnson you made my day😂
wow I hear it now
Foot cam: flip-flops with socks, like a true samurai.
saMUrAi AsTrAl wHIpPiSt
Absolutely fantastic. I love this series.
It has become my favourite on the channel 😅
2:17 sounds like the TARDIS when it is travelling
The lullaby actually sounded really good at 3:53 I’d definitely buy that guitar pedal just to play that. I’d love some more of that.
“Swine and dine em” sounded like an old school Snoop Dogg song
we need a full version of it
Yeah
Sounded like a GTA Intro song
Please keep coming up with adjectives, I liked ALL of these
I'm looking forward to "experimenting with enigmatic effects", it's gotta have something from MASF, Montreal Assembly and SubDecay.
"make your guitar sound like it's losing a knife fight"
Woah, was that a Deftones reference? I could totally see that pedal mimicking her vocal solo, good ear.
bro you are the reason i picked up my guitar again (after buying new strings, they were pretty much rotten, it has been that long)
This was honestly such a hilarious video. I literally died when you strummed that G chord on the pig machine aha
keep it up! :D
Whammy Greenwood RIP mate
Same here hahahaha
So , yer dead now ?
The mothership is an absolute need! I bet George Clinton would have paid a million box to have this on a P-Funk album.
I believe Bootsy Collins actually uses one
👍
He would not have any need for this pedal - he had the fantastic Bernie Worrell on keyboards! :D
Guys guys guys... I'm getting addicted to that mother... pedal. I keep watching this vid and it does it to me every time !!!
Not my cup of tea pedal !!!!
Really great video, you videos have a humorous aspect that is such a breath of fresh air in guitar videos. Love the enthusiasm and commitment to the bit. Keep up the great videos!
2:48 “I’m loving it”
Can we just appreciate how guitar pedals are the coolest thing to ever exist? Why are they not the only thing people spend money on?
Because you need a guitar, amp, cables, picks, and strings, too.
@@AtlasGuitar and lots of food
Don't forget the drugs
You already know the answer. Those pedals will only give you the sound of ridged shit if you don't have any good equipment. :P
@@YouCanCallMeXoe I will sound like ridgid shit good equipment or no equipment at all.
7:24 hey that sounded pretty cool. Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine would love it
The mold Spore had my bird looking at me with a very confused expression
“Hey, I have an idea. Let’s take a thick vacuum hose and put a distortion pedal on it”
Hits bong*
“I’d buy that.”
7:23 you tube, man! 😂
That first wah is something Adam Jones would love, but his solos are already weird by themselves.
6:13 damnit I like this pedal, but it will require me to be extra sober to operate during live shows....
Tom morello would love the astral whip. In fact he’d love this whole series.
I thumbs-up'd as soon as I heard you sponsor your own video. Heck yeah.

4:51 what it sounds like to guitarists when the g string is out of tune
Just randomly came across this video and I have to say that I love your style of humour and dead-pan delivery, also your explanations are very easy to understand even for a guitar noob like myself.
Tldr; you're funny. Good video
You've gott write a song where you're combining the astral whip with the fuzz probe and the raster....
Your videos have improved so much over the last couple years. Well done!
Thanks buddy!
3:10 is it just me or does this remind you of San Andreas
3:52 Sounded like your nostalgic mid-2000s and early 2010s pixelated indie adventure game. I was waiting for it to get funky but I guess that'll do.
That Pigtronix Mothership would sound killer with a bass!
if it could handle the frequency- bass can destroy lots of pedals not designed for bass. like plugging your bass into a guitar amp
holy shit I need that mothership pedal
Yes you do
2:48 ba da ba ba baaa I’m lovin in
Love that whip! Glad I stayed till the end! Awesome video!
The Astral Whip sounds like Gojira. They should use it for their concerts haha.
The 'stab' knob isn't adding stabbiness on a Fuzz Factory, it's controlling the stability. Rolling it back starves the volume, reducing how stable the fuzz is.
This came up in my feed. I liked it so much I binged the other bizarre/ strange/etc vids, you made. Great stuff. You sir, get a like and a sub :)
I love these videos. I’ve gotten sooooo many cool pedals because of you. Or at least gotten down the right thinking path. I also buy your merch. You’re a huge inspiration

"Not so long ago, in the mysterious land of Toronto, Canada......Scott Pilgrim was dating a high schooler..."
Sick pedals, thanks!!
Oh, i love your reviews man, keep it up!
Dude this guy man. I love his dry style of delivering humor.
It's done damn proper mate.
.. And it's educational lol. Well done
Oh damn I'm gonna have to grab that Red Panda thing. Really cool sounds.
WHIP IT. WHIP IT GOOD. Next, run the astral whip through the Mothership and then we'll talk.
MAKE MORE!!!! I've actually found some pedals that I love because of this series
That astral whip thing actually sounds awesome! The first few low notes you made with that thing were absolutely doom metal. Also, tell me that thing wouldn't be badass on stage with some LEDs or something strapped onto it
First pedal reminds me of the solo from Smashing Pumpkins - Zero
I'd listen to whole albums of astral whip. That's honestly amazing.
THANK You for playing the Astral Whip. This week I REALLY needed a good laugh. I'm in tears! Your channel is now officially music therapy :)
This guy genuinely makes me laugh out loud. I'm just getting into music and glad I came across him so early on.
Next week. 'Trying Out Wanky Guitar Pedals'
The week after that: "Trying out sexy guitar pedals"
oi you cheeky wankah!
Rainbow Machine and Dream Reaper in the next one. Also the dream sequence.
While waiting for my Chapman Stick I am looking for bizarre/weird pedals and your videos on this kind of stompbox is great fun! Love these vids! Keep the adjectives coming. Arigato okagesamede, tomo-san
I really like this guys comedy, never seen these kind of comedy on youtube for a while now.
Astral Whip: Brought to you by Trent Reznor

just found your channel dude, youre super informative and hilarious, keep it up!
2:46 ba ba ba ba i'm lovin it
@3:50 someone get that into a lo-fi mix
I noticed your profile pic was from Gunnerkrigg Court and I got really excited since I've never seen another fan omg
I kinda got a Queens of Stone Age vibe/sound from the Astral Whip lol
Probe+Mothership can probably work out really well and honestly I'm surprised you didn't try it based on the name connection alone.
"I whip my astral whip back and forth" might be a good pick up line too
1:23 XD guys kurt cobain used all these pedals

Mothership 🤟🏻🤣
It works great for bass too!
samuraiguitarist y, I imagined, in fact it behaves like a synthesizer, and it makes better on single notes, like grooves etc .. thanks for the answer, friend 🤟🏻
3:51 This gave me Mario 64 vibes, reminds me of the music you'd hear when walking around peaches castle.
It's been quite sometime since i have laughed this hard . Thanks ...i really needed it .
