Just swapped a few handguns over to dots. Few left to go. I thought it would be simple and easy. Felt like I went back a few years and few thousand rounds in speed and accuracy. Got them all zeroed and just started working on it. Lost the dot quite a few times. Went back to finding the front sight and pulling the dot into alignment. Slowed way down. Like a crawl. Slowly moved faster. Then came reloads. Lol. New process there too. Have one dot with a large circle reticle which helped grab it. Full daylight that green jumped out at me so I worked 150+ thru that gun and dot. Found this video during the process and set everything down and listened. Very helpful. Got way better by the end of the range day. Thanks.

Currently carrying a PSA Dagger.1 consistency is key. 2 practice is the best way for finding red dot, watch front sight as you’re pressing out. 3 three to the body and two to the head drill.
    I’m subscribed.
    Good tips here.

    I agree with the following:
    1) Consistency is Key: Practice makes perfect or how my daughter would say “Practice makes progress.” Practicing will make you consistent and being consistent with your draw, line of sight or sight picture, support hand placement and trigger pull will keep you ready.
    2) Practicing Dry Fire is very important. Just as physical conditioning improves you and creates a muscle memory in certain cases.
    3) It’s funny that you mentioned not bringing your head down to meet your line of sight or sight picture. I preach that all the time because I usually see too many people bringing their head down and hunching their upper back to meet their rear/front sight picture and it makes no sense. In doing this you’re compromising accuracy and making yourself uncomfortable (which can affect focus).
All good info in this video. (Coming from an 18 year AF member who loves guns and loves to shoot). Keep making videos, bro!

Good video man, I'll watch your channel for additional stuff. I've only started dipping my toes into rds on handguns starting with a P322 with one to practice and see how I like it. So I found this video pretty informative. Thanks for making it!

Luke !! Thanks for this video. I'm retired LEO, and you know how we're trained in the academy. Some of those draws are dead on. It's good for an improvement!. You're never too old to learn new things.

And even with academy training, most LEOs miss their targets no matter how much they train. A 2019 study of the Dallas Police Department found that in more than 130 shootings, officers struck their targets 35% of the time. Finding the dot is a lot harder when you're being shot at!

    1. Stand still, find the dot, do it again and again.
    2. Don’t be tactile with draw in 3 stages.
    3. Have the dot drop form 12 o’clock, raise up in draw, and at the end drop down from 12 o’clock!

1 Don’t lower my head to the red dot… bring the dot up to my natural position
2 Draw in one smooth, straight path to aim for consistency
3 Lower red dot from 12 o’clock to center

Outstanding training video. You caught my attention from the beginning with your demonstration. I appreciate your teaching points. Easy to follow especially after the demonstrations. I presently carry a P365X with the Holosun 507K and my bedstand Gaughan is an HKUSP compact 40. I’m looking to set my wife up with P365X also being a retired police officer I of course favor the color blue would have to say my favorite number is 30 since that’s how many years I was in law enforcement. Red dot sites is new to me because I’ve always used iron sites. Definitely we’re right on the money with what I was doing wrong and why I was having a hard time locating the red dot consistently thanks for taking the time to do the video.

Great video, I learned a great deal!
I'm carrying a Glock 27 G4 with a Holosun EPS. Favorite color is red and the number 1.
Helpful tips were to bring the sites up to you and NOT dipping your head to the red dot.
Another great tip is to practice through muscle memory with your grip as well as the motion of the draw in order to keep it consistent.
Lastly, dropping the gun into your peripheral, using the location of the front iron sight, really helps to find the red dot.
Thanks again for a very insiteful video!

I'm 66 years old and have shot iron sights all my life. Just reciently I purchased a Walther PDP F series, and put a Holosun SCS on it. The iron sights can be cowitnessed with the Holosun SCS PDP. I struggled to find the dot, but what helped me most was instead of looking for the dot. I focused on the target. By naturaly pointing at the target the dot is there in the window.

It's amazing that I was doing everything you say not to do and not realizing I was doing it until I viewed your video. I would bring my head to my pistol and bring the pistol to my chest then press out. Now that I know I can conciously work on correcting my errors. I really like the idea of dropping the red dot from 12 o'clock. Rather than searching for the red dot after press out, it gives me a reference point knowing where the red dot is.

Use to carry a Glock, just had a back surgery in December, so I picked up a Kimber mako and I like it so far. It's a black one, I would have preferred OD green because that's my fav color, but it wasn't available. I've never shot a red or green dot before, however this Kimber came with the optics cutout so I been contemplating one. My buddy rolls with an RMR and likes it. If I had to choose a number, I pick 30 because it's a nice capacity for an AR mag. Thanks for the video, I seen other's and you guy's a few things in common. I want this red dot! I watched until the end. You demonstrated 1 and 2 shot patterns as well as 3/2 body/head sequences. You ended with a longer distance shot which takes more time for accuracy.

Be consistent with your grip and practice. Dry fire is extremely important. Even just drawing and bringing the dot to you, then holster, draw again, holster, etc. That creates the neural pathways that build muscle memory.

Really dope video. I’m from NYC and just started to get into Firearms due to all of the previous regulations and laws. I currently have my residence permit but have submitted to convert to a CCW license. I’m extremely excited to be apart of the firearm community and loving every moment of this journey. Thank you for your educational content, these videos are knowledgeable and entertaining. Much love my brother.

Current carry: G19 gen 3 w/ Cross Armory Legion slide and a TLR-7A. Favorite color(s): Black & Yellow. Number: 13. I am just starting to dry fire train to find my dot, it is getting better but I can't get my dot to cowitness my suppressor height sites. Dot is off slightly high right. Haven't taken it to the range or zeroed it yet. I like your idea of raising the muzzle tip at 12' and bringing it down to get the dot insight. Thanks for the video! Cheers!

Glock 19 Gen 3 (stuck in california) - 1) Don't dip your head because you cant do that the same way every time. 2) Don't swoop up, that is slow. Push straight up and out. 3) Use your iron sight as a quick guide while pressing away from you, the red dot will come into view as you reach full extension.
