These figure fights are meant to help people decide which figure to buy NOW. So I feel like the current price (aftermarket) should be applied to older figures, but also make note of the original price.
@@RichardGonzalez-so9ubno I did watch it. But he asked us to put down in the comment section whether he should base the points off the current price or the original price for the older figures in figure fights
@@Bigbear0288yt Aaaaah okay my bad! I misinterpreted what your saying to mean your were being critical of the price comparison. Again, that's on me. I should have read that more carefully.
Since the figure fight is supposed to help someone buy one figure over the other, I feel that the msrp that the figure went for 10 years ago is redundant and means nothing to someone who is planning on buying it. I would definitely judge it on aftermarket prices, since that would be the only way to get most of these figures. Like, for example birth version godzilla being about 60$ msrp 9 years ago, doesnt really matter when you can only get him NIB for about 200$. Thats just my opinion tho.
Yeah figure fights are really just for comparisons in a vacuum, because obviously in reality the SHMA Gigan is inarguably the better option of the two for the size and movie accuracy alone, if you want a Gigan, it is THE Gigan. It’s like he walked right off the screen
Ok. Monsterarts advertising the flight form as a gimmick is bullshit for 2 reasons 1)- no flight stand, nor any direct compatibility with any flight stand 2)- no folded wings to accurately recreate the flight mode
I've grown tired of people saying in defense of Monsterarts with baby talk that "handle your shma with carreeee, don't drop it stoopid". Sure, but what if that owner lives in a seismic active zone? (like I do for instance), or whatever sort of thing can happen, you never know. Even with the SLIGHEST tremors these overpriced hunk of plastic will fall over. Then who's to blame? And if your shelf space is also limited.... Yea good luck, I had to put all my shmas as far as back it lets me, but it's a shame they can't shine in there.
Not in defense of fragile figures, but from a guy who used to live on a fault line and had one too many 7.2m quakes wreck his shit, I found they make this stuff called QuakeHold and you can put it under the feet of your figures and its a silicone type museum wax sort of stuff that cures completely transparent and doesn't damage the figures. Combine that with some smart securing of bookshelves or however you display your figures and hopefully that at least help reduce some headache. For the more expensive pieces i'd get quake insurance as well. Good luck man. Also fuck earthquakes, I never wanna live on a fault line again XD
I felt the arms on the SHM Gigan were just a bit too short and a bit too hindered articulation-wise. In combination, I see these as putting him at a posing disadvantage when we get Godzilla 72 since he can barely be made to swing past his own belly
I'm still really not sure how I feel about sculpt and paint accounting for only one point. Like, maybe it's just me, but I don't think having a couple extras like a beam or some buildings should carry the exact same level of significance as the sheer disparity between the X-Plus level of detail in the SHMA's sculpt and paint, and the decidedly toy-like Revoltech. Also, I agree with the other folks here that aftermarket prices at the time of release are the most useful metric. You already do a lot of "grading on a curve," i.e., does it live up to the quality you'd expect at the time of its original release. I'm not sure how much I agree with that philosophy when it comes to things like sculpt and articulation, but I definitely draw the line at price - since we're being relative with all the other aspects anyways, there's no need to be charitable when it comes to the separate price round. What we'd pay for the old figure at the time to new one is released seems the most fair.
I'm going to assume the toy like statement is hyperbole. But yes, it does carry the same weight. Sure, something may *look* great, but is that the only thing it has going for it compared to what else is on the market? Yes? Mkay.
Hi Steven have you heard about the new SH monsterarts space godzilla coming out next year. I just preordered mine and wont get it till May. Could you do an early review on it
ITS TIME FOR A SPACE CHICKEN BATTLE!!!! Dude I've worked with transluscent ball joints and I cna tell you the pegs are good but the sockets are weak, I dont know why tamashii went the see through route on the sockets >.
Great Figure Fight! I’ve always loved the OG Gigan design, also, I have a question. Will you be getting the MUI Goku: Toyotarou Edition, I’m looking forward to it.
Grate vid, the fact they used clear plastic for the sails on the shma baffles me, tbh your just better off snapping the joints of and glueing the sails back in so you don’t have to worry about them, so dumb lol.
SH Monsterarts has been a complete letdown ever since GVK. They need to improve. Hiya just started and is ALREADY doing better than most of SH Monsterarts’ bets figures.
The only thing they need to “massively” improve on it the price. Maybe accesories for some (SOME) figures but people act like shma just blew up your house and ran away with your children.
I’m typing this as looking at my shma next to the movie. The revoltechs wings are too vibrant. That’s what makes shma win. They are close though, I’ll admit
i was gonna rush in here and say it just isnt fucking fair to compare the tiny, 13-year-old, 20 dollar(AT RETAIL) gigan toy to the big new, $100+ premium collector figure, but the little guy fucking _wins?_
Giving the final found (articulation) a tie was quite ridiculous. You can’t just say “well they both break in areas so it’s a tie,” that makes no sense. Despite the broken sails, the shma has more points of articulation and mobility. Call me a glazer but I’m still gonna leave this comment. Constructive criticism.

Don't forget the single super tiny peg 😂

S.h monsterarts brings more accurate color when it comes to the suit.
You think, I just watched Godzilla vs Gigan yesterday and was thinking SH made his suit too dark.
I gotta go for the revoltech figure. To me it's a nice sculpt, articulation is great, and I love the color.
Been waiting for this one! Too bad I'm too afraid to touch my SHMA Gigan since im worried his dorsal fins will snap if i look at him wrong.

I found it funny how revoltech made figures of every showa kaiju except for godzilla
For price, i would say lets do a comparison to reissues and apply that to the FF figure
I like the mouth on the revoltech more

I then both. When it comes to scale and looks, I have to go with S.H.M. For durability it’s REV. hands down.

SHMA gave Gigan T-Rex arms. So close to a perfect Gigan figure.
It’s accurate though.
Eh maybe a bit short I tried comparing it with the movie but oh well.

Even considering the revoltech being more accurate is goofy
