I've been reading the Dark Olympus series (mostly on accident; I saw Neon Gods at Target, thought it sounded intriguing, and got sucked into the set-up and politics of it all, the smut is supplementary) and I *never* knew this about her oh boy. Ugh...why. 😅
She only found out about the book several years after she published this I don't like haunting Adeline, I'm a hater, actually but I don't think what books she likes defines her.

Okay so I think Neon Gods refers to it being a modern city setting, with the neon lights. I'm only basing this idea off the novel Neon Ghosts, which is cyberpunk, but that's the vibe is it's a big city setting like New York. I'm probably wrong, but I'm gonna say I'm right, because I don't care to look deeper.
Yeah it’s bc it’s modern. It’s set in modern day where a lot of retellings it’s either not clear the setting or it’s way in the past Olympus is massive in the series, as is the underworld
Instead of letting Rick Riordan plagiarize your idea, just make up some German gods who can go to a summer camp. God of Oktoberfest. God of schadenfreude. Und zo 😉
......As a German, I don't know if I should be offended or not. Just so you know: Oktoberfest is a regional thing, mostly in Bavaria. Carneval is celebrated in more regions, actually. At least you didn't say "god of Bratwurst"... Also, Germanic cultures share their gods with Norse/Northern European cultures fyi. Also also, it's "und so", not with a z, we often pronounce S like you do Z.

I can tell you with 99% certainty this is a lore Olympus fanfic because it is the ONLY retelling to have made Demeter and Persephone have a bad relationship and it popularized the idea. The original story was meant to show familial love whereas lore Olympus stomped all over that almost like the author had mommy issues but that’s just my opinion
@@QueenSivit’s not the only one actually. A touch of ruin by Scarlett st Clair had the same Demeter and Persephone hate relationship. Promises and pomegranates by sav r miller uses the myth of hades and Persephone with different names and the Persephone character has a horrible relationship with her mother.
She also has a Disney retelling series that came before dark Olympus directly connected, the hades in that series is hades in this one’s dad. I could maybe see the concern if the other series didn’t exist first but the author has posted plenty of character maps to show what is canon and what’s connected between the series. The other series is called wicked villains
@@Stonedandbookish I checked the publish date and each one of the series/ books you mentioned were published AFTER lore Olympus in 2018. Basically the book there is not any plot because we are supposed to know already all the mythology plot, so she didn't need to bother to write it again😂 just shove some erotica and do a neon cover with neon god title.

Hades & Persephone retellings = riding a dead horse. Voluptuous means curvy and sexually attractive, which I guess makes sense considering Psyche had this love story with Eros. By the way, I wouldn't mind reading erotica about these two hehe Also, I think it would make more sense if Zeus was the horny one, rather than Hades, but that's just me.
you know the book will suck when the author liked haunting adeline💀

I agree it's badly written. But I guess I just don't understand why taste in books defines people
this & anything by Sarah j maas
i accidentally chose this book for my book club by mistake not realizing it was poorly written erotica but it made for a hilarious discussion

This has gotta be correct cuz references to neon signs usually mean a city setting even if there aren’t neon signs in the setting

@EleiyaUmei You should feel offended. As a fellow german I think this comment is pretty rude, too.

Dark Olympus books arent direct retellings. They're romance first, fantasy second
The author says as much.

A novella that absolutely eats is Princess Floralinda and the 40 flight tower. It's soooo fucking good, i think about it all the time.
This sounds like Stray Gods as erotica...
Edit: Plus Lore Olympus.
