  • Paul Johnston thoroughly evaluates the 2002 BMW F650CS, aiming to ascertain whether it truly lives up to the designation of 'Street Cava' as asserted by the German manufacturers.
Additionally, he delves into the examination of its distinctive features, notably exploring the practicality and innovation behind elements such as the helmet harness ingeniously integrated across the fuel tank.

Thanks for your analysis! Living at 18° North, I rode my used 2003 BMW Scarver almost every day from 2005 'till 2017. I wasn't a good owner & I gave it away in 2018 for 300€ while I replaced it with a single cylinder 660cc Yamaha MT03, not the newer 320cc twin cylinders MT03 😃😃😃 My 2010 MT03 has the same single cylinder engine as the famous Yamaha TENERE (2008-2016).

I like the Kevlar drive belt on the F650CS! I wish the G310R had the belt drive the F650CS has... Really!

Better to ride than the 650GS of that era, and it had belt drive.

I have had one for 5 years. Nice to ride but too many problems with it. Why folk talk about BMW being reliable beats me.

Strange looking but ok....the extras are good but no bloody way would I leave a helmet "in" it no matter how good or strong a steel strap is

Good bike but more expensive maintenance than a my Honda Goldwing. If it doesn't have FSH run a mile.

European Manufacturers do not honour their warrantees.

'You don't need ABS. The brakes are perfectly good enough'. My sentiments exactly. If you need ABS, you need to learn how to ride.

It makes up for it with its other attributes :D especially fuel mileage and handling.

I own one of those aswell and i have to admit that you have to get ueses to the look of it. But nevertheless its a briliant bike, i rode about 5000Km on it to date and i was never disapointed. The longest journey i was doing with it was about 800Km from southern Germany to Meran and back. It's long range due to the very efficient engine and good handling on the mountain pass roads made it a pleasure to ride, even though i was carrying the luggage for both, me and my dad.
