That Palpatine laugh is just an old answer phone message left for Luke once he gets back home to Tatooine. “Luuuuke.....do you like scary movies?! Mwa ha ha ha ha ha....Call me back”
A film that doesn't meet your pre-established expectations is not an inherently bad film. I love the Last Jedi. It's dark as fuck and it blows up so many fanboy expectations. JJ said in interviews that he respects what happened in TLJ in this film, but he also recognized that this film not only caps the new trilogy, it also caps the entire Saga, which is why we are seeing the wreck of the original Death Star and we hear Palpatine's laugh. People shitting on both of the last 2 Saga films (but TLJ moreso) has completely destroyed any interest I had in talking about Star Wars. I'm just going to enjoy the film.
@@Stogie2112 The film starts out with the Resistance base being destroyed by star destroyers; They lose most of their fleet running away; Luke doesn't want anything to do with the rest of the galaxy and Rey has her first brush with serious Dark Side influence, so much so that it terrifies Luke; Rey is nearly killed by Snoke until Kylo kills him; General Holdo commits suicide taking out the lead star destroyer. And Luke drinks weird milk from a space walrus. Pretty fukn dark if you ask me. They are standing on a sea shore looking at the chunk of Death Star in the ocean, but the second DS was built above "the forest moon of Endor." However, I will concede with Palpatine's laugh at the end, that could be the second DS since he's much more likely to be linked to the second one.
