Rescuing a kitten on a busy street

- We found this feral mom and her kitten on a busy street in Brooklyn. With the help of a TNR volunteer (+ colony caretaker) and foster volunteer, Le Tigre is now enjoying a wonderful life. Since her mom was feral, she was spayed and returned back to her outdoor home.
If you want to help get a kitten rescued, but you’re not able to foster, try to spend time with them outside during meal times, while you’re figuring out next steps. You can essentially begin the socialization process while they are still outside, by earning their trust every day.

Just commenting for the algorithm while the ads at the start of the video play!
Folks, please watch the ads (as annoying as they are) until the end! It allows channels like this to earn more revenue
@@sama.4471 I am unable to do that as I have UA-cam premium…. But, I like the video and I comment and share to help the algorithm :)
Imagine a video platform where manipulation of algorithms isn't necessary to find good content.

The mom is a baby herself. THIS SHOWS THE IMPORTANCE OF TNR! Such a shame it's not a widespread concern or resources aren't available to everyone or at a lower cost to make people want to be able to help more. Instead only through over booked and limited programs that have to be sought out instead of being common knowledge throughout a community is so frustrating.
This! I completely agree, and wish there were more resources, more accessible, and more widely know. And of course that more people cared to step forward and take part in rescuing and caring for these precious ones.💕💗
@@bellamymalleb Very True - Without TNR - those evil cat meat shops, and poachers from the cat meat trade will prosper, and multiply faster than you think. They also consider cats and kittens as FOOD instead of as pets. This is all caused by UNCHECKED IMMIGRATION !!! since they came from their old country seeking US citizenship, but refuses to abandon their old traditional eating habits from their former nation they emigrated from. THIW's. See - ua-cam.com/video/vzf4-bMXNhY/v-deo.html & this - ua-cam.com/video/X_heJneIQXM/v-deo.html to see how feral and stray and abandoned cats are no longer safe from this trade anymore.
My cat as a child got pregnant at 6 months old. My mom thought she still had time to get her fixed. Of course after her kittens she did, but now that I’m older I realize how young Dusty really was
I felt sad when a local female cat of probably no more than 6-8 months got pregnant. She was a baby and had to raise a baby. Good thing someone decided to give her a home.
Mom looked so young!! Still a kitten herself the poor thing
Yes it's a shame. Cats can reproduce before they are even a year old. And combind with being on the street with a food scarcity, they can be pretty small
The kitten was well behaved when being washed.
I didn't know that about how kittens genetically gain that from the mothers. I've always wondered why I've seen some kittens that come right up to people as opposed to others that run away. Im happy I learned that. Definitely puts a new approach on socializing those lucky ones.
My cat was born feral and they didn't trap her until she was already pregnant. She was very people positive, but she had to learn house manners and how to be a house cat.
I rescued a kitten last October who was completely feral, to say the least. Wouldn’t let us near him. I googled what to do and started withholding food till he ate in front of me. Worked like a charm. Now he’s a total love bug. I was forced to take in a blind kitten last month. I really didn’t want another one, but I couldn’t leave her on the street. Sad, but she’s so fragile and obviously, who is going to give her a home if not for me.?😂
I lost my special boy about a week ago. It hurts like hell and I miss him so much. We had him 12 years and he was old but there will always be a hole in my life without him. He was so incredibly loving and friendly and caring and I couldn’t have wished for a better companion through everything.
Watching videos like this are bittersweet, he was a stray before we took him in but looking back he rescued us more than we did him.
Every single cat has so much love to give they just need to be given that chance. Thank you for doing everything you do. Seeing other cats getting the love they deserve helps me feel less lost.
Each time we lost our old cat, we had the chance to found another cat in need the days after or even the same day this time. The new cat doesn’t ease the pain but gives us a new goal at life. Courage and be blessed. I hope you could find a new loving cat❤
I had to put down my old g cat Mimi she has cancer and I knew it was coming I still miss her it's only been 2 months she was 14 year's old
I am so sorry for your loss 😿... I know exactly how you feel! So many of my fur babies have crossed the rainbow in the last 45 years 😿😿😿... and it never gets better...
Min -- Sometimes new strays find you. Or give yourself a little time and adopt from a shelter or rescuer. I've had several cats over the years and a few who were extra special. Each cat is unique, so you'll find a new cat who's very different and special in his or her own way. What we learn from our pets can help future pets, and they can help us get through it.
Agree with the others - it is a hard pill to swallow. Sincere sympathy...
I've lost some rather young and some older. Two were lost about 18 months apart, just before the pandemic. Oct 2020 my not-quite 22 yo passed on... She was with me over 21 years! I wanted to bring in more after the first 2 losses, but she was never a fan of other cats and needed more of my attention/care in the last year.
Never think of taking in another cat or 2 as trying to replace the lost one... They are not replaceable, each is such an individual... Think of it as giving another cat(s) or kitten(s) a good home, a chance to enjoy life!
You honor your cat's memory, but help another or a few!! I'm currently trying to find a bonded pair, non-kitten, to add to the gang. Doesn't bring those lost back, but it does bring more joy in!
Latigre seems to have a great future ahead of her as a supreme biscuit maker. Thanks for all you do.
She reminds me the feral kitten we befriended and adopted 2 years ago. He was about 2 months old and had zero human interaction.
Took quite a bit of time, food, toys, and love to coax him into living the good life, but he is absolutely spoiled now.
I like how this whole process starts with trapping scared cats, which might initially seem harsh or cruel out of context, but then slowly transitions to giving the cat its best life ever. Y'all make good on your promises to our furry buds and thats beautiful.
Growing up, my dad took care of a feral mom and her kittens by doing much the same. feeding the cats, trapping and taking them to the vet when they needed care. Miss him and his heart
I adopted my black cat from a feral colony when he was 3 months old. I had been eating in the area and he came running for the food. After I fed him he climbed up my lap and I took him home and he's been super friendly since day one. I've had him ever since.
Le Tigre has such a loud purr! what a sweetie
Thanks so much for the content! I always love knowing where my monthly donation goes ❤️
@@katiamontana871 Absolutely!!!. I block the scammer channels and comment that they don't pass the sniffing test to help others be discerning.
A shout out to the volunteers and fosters. 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️. You are very special people. 🏆
Thank you for making the world a better place!
The local shelter here has just been overloaded with kittens this year. Way more than the last couple of years. I always feel for the older cats when it's kitten season, as everyone seems to clamber for the wee ones.
I live in a tiny village but still hardly let my cats outside. One can only imagine the dirty noisy horror of a poor unhoused cat trying to stay clean and safe in a big city. Thanks for what you do. I've got 6 rescue cats I attend and they're in their forever home with me. Cheers.
I will try my best to do what I can on my end in terms of donating money as you guys are doing God's work and helping these animals survive and find families
I cannot adopt a cat as my severe allergies make it impossible, but I will try to help.
You are a great person!
I got allergy shots back in '85 a year after I got my first, beautiful, sweet tuxie boy because I developed a pretty bad allergy to his dander. It made all the difference, and I even went through a second round of biweekly (for about 6 or 7 months, I think, it was so long ago) shots a year later to make it stick. It stuck. Flonase also worked very well for me in the meantime because it blocks receptors in the nose. Great stuff. I hope you'll find a way one day to adopt a cat, or maybe two. I hope for you that you will be able to experience the great joy of living with a sweet, curious, comforting, hilarious kitty. My cats were among the greatest loves of my life. ❤️🙂
My sweet baby Grover was about 4 months old, living behind a dumpster when I trapped him for TNR. He's a gorgeous fluffy grey cat (looks like a Nebelung mix), so I thought if I could socialize him he'd be snapped up for adoption. It took over 2 months before he would come out from under the bed, but my boyfriend and I gave him time, patience, and encouragement. As you probably guessed, he's a foster fail who lives a happy, pampered life in his forever home with us!
Thank you & God bless you all
Aww lovely story ❤. Thank you for your patience and love with your furry friend 🐈
He failed all the way into your hearts! God bless you!
@@CALVINLNIKONT Aww, yes he did! He's a scrumptious, fluffy little bundle of love! 😻
😂 You got caught in Grover’s trap. You just thought you trapped him. God bless! Be happy!
Thank you for this video. I always wait for them but realize your work for the kittens is more important than producing videos. Please keep it up, and thank you again.
2:08 So cute! I saved a kitten about a year old. He was just a little bag of bones when he first came to me, almost dead from thirst and dehydration. He had gotten into my apt bldng and up to the 3rd floor where I live. The landlord was heading down the stairs to throw him back out on the street! I say whoa! Give him to me and I'll figger out what to to with him! That was 4 years ago. I've still got him and it turns out he greatly enriched the life of my other cat!
Very refreshing to see kind people taking care of these helpless animals. Thank you for rescueing them. God bless you all 😀 ❤🙏👍
My neighbors are very involved in TNR and are cat lovers. Since moving here 3 years ago, I've become a cat lover too. I learn and enjoy watching videos like this. Sometimes it makes my heart ache, but motivates me to try to help. My neighbors recently humanely trapped a kitten about 3 months old. They already have 2 small kittens they trapped and are now foster fails. I have a 2 yr old tuxedo I adopted from the shelter when he was 8 weeks. BUT, I took the stray kitten they trapped. It has and is a challenge to win his trust. I'm being very patient with him and he is slowly coming around. Poor baby, I can't imagine how life was for him on the streets. But he is now safe and part of our family and he brings us all joy....my mischievous little Ginger boy.
Loves seeing Le Tigre and her foster have such a bond. There's just something cute about seeing a kitten getting a flea bath.
Those kittens are so cute
man i wish there was a way that the gate could close quieter. Prolly scares the sh*t out of them when it closes lol
Great job to the colony caretaker who really helped the process!
That kitten just sat there, still as a statute, during a *bath* this is a CAT we’re talking about. Legendary
Thank you, Flatbush Cats for your inspirational work! Your videos pushed me to follow my dad's footsteps: to become a veterinarian. I hope as I gain this title I can help with the cat population crisis.
Omg! That 2 month kitten is so lovable & trusting. Thank you for what you do
Omygawd this kitten is just so cute, especially during her bath!!!!! What a little sweetheart!!! I’m so glad you (FCs) and she found each other!!!! Lordamercy what a lovely girl!!
Fantastic job you are doing for the cats. They are special animals and all who have gotten to know cats, love them..
Le Tigre, that cat is a beauty! 🐈⬛
I always tear up whenever I finish watching your videos 🥲👍💕
the kitten was so calm in the bath. 🥺
I pretty much always cry in these videos, lol, just his voice gets the tears going
I wish there were more angels like yall in the world!! Thank you for saving such sweethearts like these!! God bless yall🙏🏼🙏🏼💕💕
That little kitten was precious! I just want to snuggle him❣️😺😽
I love to see videos of kitties. It helps me with the pain of mine getting lost a month ago. Tan out of my car from an improperly locked carrier and after I parked my car I the street and reached out for the carrier she ran away. I have looked and looked and places food and called for her. I don’t know where she is, my old girl, she saved me more than I her! I’ll keep looking! But thanks for lifting my heart ❤️ today
How terrible for you. I do hope you find her. She may have been picked up by another family with no idea of who owns her. Keep trying and good luck!
Love the name Le Tigre!!! Kitty is so sweet. I wish I could volunteer as a foster.
3:05 The way she looks up at you... 🥺
Neat to observe the sign regarding trapping cats by your setup. Nice to let the public know and see what’s happening.
Thank you, Flatbush Cats 🐈.
You make such a good point here. For people who feed street cats but can't or don't know how to trap them--they can still do something very valuable for the cat/kittens. By socializing the street cat/kittens when they feed them, they may make it easier for the cat/kittens to be adopted by someone down the line.
You do wonderful work.
My heart melts every time I see a kitten getting bathed but this was extra cute 😻
That baby looked like she was enjoying the spa day.
the baby is so calm about being bathed 🥺such a lovely little baby girl
le tigre and her little white socks are so cute
The mom is basically a kitten herself, sad that she probably missed the chance to be socialised :(
I love what you do, please continue doing your work, we need more people like you in the world.
Thank you for doing what you do. If I was close I’d take the little tuxedo - I lost mine to illness 2 years ago. I now have a Maine coon mix but would love to get him a playmate.
I have TNR’d a couple of cats, rescued and adopted a couple. One of the rescues just ran up to me, even though she was from a colony. She was the sweetest kitten and I’m sorry I got her adopted, I should have kept her. ❤️🐈⬛
Thank you so much for your hard work. ♥️ I hope you managed to spay the mom too.
@3:09 that lil tail curl around the finger melted my heart 😭
Sweet story... appreciate all of you who love & care for these babies. ❤️🌎🤟
Of kitties so much and I’ll give them a good home temperature today
Wow. I had no idea some cats had a genetic predisposition to being friendlier towards humans
God Bless you for your compassion and dedication.
Wow, the grey cat at 2:50 is soooo beautiful !!! I'm in love 😍
gosh if i lived in nyc/the area and owned my home i would foster for flatbush cats in a heartbeat
The work you do is so phenomenal, thank you thank you thank you!!
Thank you 💕
Latigra is gorgeous and so is the living tuxie. I love cats, and I love what y'all do for them ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love the work this organisation does, they are amazing
Thanks!
Thank you for doing that you do
I love cats! Thank you!
Just a comment: I love your graphic for Flatbush Cats with the lettering and cat figures. Very memorable, attractive, witty, and just a good draw for attracting more attention. Good on you, artist!
Thank you for this happy story when I really needed it.
Yet another wonderful video.
I'm so grateful for all you do
You had me at "cat size studio apartment". I almost sprayed my computer with a sip of wine.😍
Some feral seeming cats can become comfortable house cats. It took probably 5 years for my son kitty to come inside, but he's so happy and content. (He loves kisses and cuddles!😸) He would flee from me even at 20ft away in the beginning. I did everything at his pace, how close I got, how long I stayed near him, etc. It gives me hope for other babies who could become housecats, too.😻🥰💗
Omg! Mom is beautiful!
Gorgeous kitten, I think she is part Maine Coon, has the M and the quite large face. That would explain some of her affectionate nature too.
Thanks for the job
Hello Flatbush friends!
Wspaniałe, cudowne Koteczki. Jak dobrze że ludzie o wrażliwych sercach o nie zadbali. Uściski.❤❤❤❤🥰
Shout out to my Brooklyn homie new sub here thank you for doing what you do
god bless you guys and all that you do!!!
7/15/22- she is the sweetest thing going!
WOW, the comment on the gene thing, I had an inkling of a feeling about that. I noticed that the tabby domestic short hairs seem to be very human friendly in SO many places online(including my own), I chalked it up to it being a breed thing and fur thing.
Love your dedication!!❤️❤️❤️
I'm in love in La Tigra
Is like bath so adorable
What you just said about fostering a kitten and it’s fine if they stay in the bathroom... made my day. I’m finally gonna look into this Tuesday. Thank you for everything you do. I just can’t say that enough
You guys are great ❤
Beautiful!
lovely
She is a beauty!
Such a cuut kitten thank you so much for taking care of her I hope she will be adopt by a good family God bless you 👍❤️🐈⬛
Awwe What a sweet lil kitten ♡♡♡
lovely.
You’ve helped me to convince my parents to foster kittens! We now have a pile of fluffy bundles of joy and couldn’t be happier :)
Man, how many people just pass by?
YOU GUYS ARE THE. B E S T
Is so beautiful
How cute!!
Not really relevant but i had to share - cat got hit by a car today. Relatively small but strong, bold and boisterous black/white male (almost 5 years old) with lovely green eyes. Mother is a tabby, father was a large white male with short ears (not sure breed). Some lovely angel of a woman (we will buy her something as an act of extreme gratitude) saw him in a very bad way on the side of the road and took a picture of him lying in the footpath and posted it on a local cat facebook page. She said they couldnt get him as he ran away. She blacked out his face as it was too bloody/gory. When we saw the picture it was almost traumatising. But the tough fecker managed to make his way home and get into his spot. We got home after searching on the road to hear an unmerciful, painful, distorted meow. He was in alot of pain. Straight to the vet. Had to be very careful putting him into the cat carrier. BUT Vet says he's gonna make it!!! Needs his jaw wired and maybe another bit but thats ok. This is why we need localised and national networks for animals. There's a woman I know who looks after all sorts of cats, TNR etc - does it against the interests of her pocket, out of love for these beautiful animals. She's an angel too, and if I ever got in power there'd be no volunteers, just paid staff, doing God's work.
Deus o abençoe.
