Remember in the recon runs they only get to drive this stage 2 times making notes and video then trying to memorize some of the stage. Now it is night time and they are driving flat out trying to see where they are going with flash bulbs , flares and fire works going off. These are THE BRAVEST drivers in the world !!!
I'm surprised that they allowing night stages, driving with 200 km/h at narrow roads like these, I can't tell what is more dangerous than this... complete madness, basically everything can happen, people, animals
This has to be considered one of the best rally onboard videos ever. The atmosphere, difficulty of the stage, and skill of the driver are all at a level of greatness.
I wish we had some basic telemetry data like speed, throttle and brake inputs to get a feel for their insane skills. G-forces would be nice too to see the various bumps and forces they are experiencing. 😵💫
What perhaps amazes me the most is how few crashes happen despite such high pace. And also the fact that these onboards mostly aren't some insane "stole half a minute on this stage" runs, that mere seconds separate them at the end of a 20km stage. How these guys can have such a stable and similar pace, that a single second difference per one kilometer is considered being miles ahead.
“Shinny” is a note you hear in Ireland a lot, it’s shinny/smooth tarmac. Fresh low grip tarmac or tarmac where water flows onto the road. Slippy shinny is a double caution call for where there is a lot less grip, normally because of a big cut or standing water/ possible ice.
Have i slept all the years of Rallye Monte Carlo or did the FIA Team put out one of the greatest Rallye nights ever? Im stuck to my seat this is incredible!! There must've been some good marketing guys that said do some pyro and fireworks on that uphill. This is nuts!
Pretty sure this has been a thing for at least a few years now! Not always the exact same stage, but it's quite traditional to start Monte Carlo with at least one night stage. They bring in a lot of spectators, because night stages are not very common these days! Plus it's basically where the season begins, it's gotta feel special!
night stages have been a thing in Monte carlo (and rally) for ever. also it has become a tradition on this first stage of the rally to set fireworks and everything for a long time now. Perhaps it was in col de Turini back then but stil the party remains 😁
By far one of the best stages for on board camera feed. Those little bridges are terrifying, I'd be careful crossing them at like 50kph and these guys are just blasting it through them.
Thank you for sharing this! We know that we all love car sounds but I believe the sound balance should be rectified a bit, in favor of the copilot's voice :). Just my humble opinion, hope you'll share more of this Monte-Carlo Rallye, a lovely one (if not the best :p) THANK YOU!
That uphill section was completely bananas!! Loved the use of road sign reflections as markers for upcoming corners or obstacles. If you pay attention, Martin uses the word "shiny" to tell Evans that something is coming up the road.
I'm no expert, but Evans seems to have a more cautious and controlled driving style than some of his more flamboyant rivals, but it's worked well in his favor on these slippery conditions. It's not always about speed - winning rallies is all about getting to the end in one piece. Some of the ice patches today proved how much it pays to take it easy.
I mean... it's more practical, sure, and safer than doing Scandinavian Flicks or handbraking to drift around corners. Especially that this is a night rally where the visibility isn't that good. If I can relate this in a rally sim, I also do this when I'm doing a run on night stages. I have to be cautious because great visibility is not your friend. I only do flamboyant handbrake drift around corners more often during daylight or afternoon stages. But even then in those stages, I pick the right timing and the right type of corner to do that type of cornering.
@@bhardnavares5903The reason they they don't do scandi flicks and drifts is not because they're risky, it's because they're on tarmac. On tarmac you absolutely want to avoid ever going sideways as it makes you lose time
Now that was awesome. Thanks for the ride. I will be watching the rally. And the 24 hours of Daytona this weekend along with the AFC Championship of American Style Football. Hopefully one day the WRC will come back to America. It would be interesting if the guys would do Laguan Sega or Or Road America as one of their stops. Or Ohio in the fall. Sven from America. 😎
doesn't matter how good you are, everyone gets humbled by a DNF in this career. Even ken block lost control and hit a tree head on going almost 60mph if not more. such an awesome sight to see people conquer a stage like this.
It is so cool to see this stage with the crazy spectators. But the sound is not running right compared to the front view camera. And the thing with Evans is that he is looking so stressed in the car. Doesn’t he get pain in his shoulders, neck and back?
@@rayquan-c1n If it was mixed properly, we'd hear both! It's nice to try and follow what he's saying and then watching how Elfyn approaches the corner based on that information.
Is the co-driver saying "shiny" to indicate the reflective signs all over the place? The things these drivers and co-pilots have to handle while absolutely FLYING down country roads is amazing.

The money they get and the opportunity to drive such machines they should be doing it with dip beam lol cause I would 😂
Very talented driver getting scratch time with à lot if risks.
Insane video
One of the maddest stages we've seen in the championship for a while IMO, the uphill section with all the fans leaning out was like Group B
Yeah it's crazy 🤩 It's such beautiful !
it's crazy!
Hats off to the fans for making such an awesome atmosphere, it was insane, hope they stay hyped the rest of the weekend
Beautiful and crazy at the same time... 😎😅
You know those drivers felt ALIVE going through that section
That's probably the closest we'll get to '80s rallies where the fans are that close. Dangerous but looks awesome!

It's really odd these aren't displayed here, since speed, gear and throttle / brake input was displayed in last years onboard views.
theyre displayed in the broadcast too so idk why they arent here
On peut pas tout avoir
Absolutely epic. Best stage Iv seen for a long time. 80s rally vibes!
I cannot imagine being co-pilot. I would absolutely throw up from motion sickness.
They are trained for that, look up on yt how F1 drivers train their skills
Me too lol
Not all the patches, Dramamine, and ginger would keep that from happening. 😂
I’m hoping to do it later this year
The bravery of putting up with that AND making sure you get all the directions right as if your life depended on it, yeah man!
Hats off to the co drivers. I could easily get lost in those small town like sections. Go Evans. Take home the trophy.

The flares and fans all over looks so good. Glad to see this in rally ❤❤❤❤❤
RallyeTV should be like this too in VOD archive
They have onboards. You can switch between 3 cameras usually.

The pace notes also call out the reflection from the traffic signs - "shinny"

I was wondering why he used the "shinny" term, thanks for the explanation@@tdolan500
Amazing atmosphere in Montecarlo🔥🔥 That's what rally is about! Love the WRC from Italy🇮🇹🇮🇹♥️♥️
Well, I certainly wasn't expecting an on-board, judging from the recent history of the channel. That surely was a pleasant surprise.

WHAT A RACE!!!❤BRAVO EVANS and MARTiN🎉🎉
I am breathless and speechless
And fartless and shitless

The term ' made different' definitely applies to these dudes.. 😮
Finalmente è iniziata la stagione!!
La stagione più dura del motorsport....
Macchine spettacolari, piloti eccezionali!!

Fantastic Onboard !!!!!

thank you for this video, i enjoyed it
This is incredible
Imagine being able to experience that 💪💪🙌🙌
Wildest I've seen,that takes talent and fortitude👍💯👏
Masterfully done!
Amazing!
This run was insane. Between the pitch black of the night and the fireworks/flares from the crowd I don't know how these guys do it. Incredible.

omg i never seen this. this is amazing...
Vamos! 💪🔥
Of all the countless videos on youtube, I was lucky enough to choose precisely this one.
These guys are Jedi
All the money WRC takes on subscriptions and they can’t even put up a graphic with speed and gear????
That's reserved for the people who subscribe :). In a couple of years the free version will only include an audio samples without any videos.
That was cool!
"I wrote a new chapter in my book today, you wanna hear it?"
"Sure, bro, whatchu got?"
Elfyne,ty kluku ušatá,máš největší šanci na titul a my věříme,že to letos dáš.
Elfyn is just a beauty to watch, the way he hits those turns are just perfect
This boy is impressive, the desire he puts into it, with a little luck he will win his first title which he deserves
That's just sick....
Evans deserves to win this year. He's been so close in the past.
great run elfie!!
perfection

Wow you guys indeer so much of the focus of the race , but the fans! Love it, yet omg so much
