Welcome to a walk in the center of Larnaca, one of the most popular resorts on the island of Cyprus. Larnaca is the third largest city in the country after Nicosia and Limassol, as well as a port city on the south-east coast of Cyprus. It is home to Cyprus' main international airport, Larnaca International Airport, and numerous museums and monuments. In 2015, it had a population of 84,900 and is the second most important port and an important tourist center. Larnaca Salt Lake is located on the western edge of the city. Larnaca is famous for its palm promenade, also called Finikoudes, as well as the Church of Saint Lazarus, Sultan Tekke Hall, Kamares Aqueduct and Larnaca Castle. It is built on the ruins of the ancient Citium, which was the birthplace of the Stoic philosopher Zeno. Larnaca is named after the huge number of sarcophagi found in the modern city (in ancient Greek Larnax means - box, chest).
