Mia, for the fryer, just contact the company and they should be able to send you a new power cord! Possibly for free too!
Often they are very happy to do that. My roommate got a rumba from a garage sale. The battery needed replacing. They sent her a new battery for free...no questions asked. The battery had a value of around 80. They even paid the shipping.
Yes! Many appliances ask you not to return to store but to call the manufacturer and people don’t because it’s faster to take it back. But the company should help with any missing or damaged parts
I'd love to see her call the company for a new cord & put it in a video (follow up) if they do send one!

Mia, for the broken or defective items, there should be an electrical recycling place. They'll strip everything apart and recycle the electrical items. So it doesn't go to landfill.

I came here to comment exactly that. I love thes videos but it makes me cringe thinking what other people do with the broken items. You could even find experts that can refurbish and fix and resell these items

For the kettles the white stuff that builds up in the bottom is limescale, happens because it’s constantly got water in it. It happens to every kettle overtime it’s not defective, just needs a clean with some white vinegar
It is also just based on where you live. If you have water with lots of lime in it they might just need a water softener installed, or just a brita filter 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ the people that returned it will have that issue with ALL kettles
If you reboil water it makes more limescale. We live in a hard water area and I only boil what I need and always empty out the little that is left and I rarely have to clean my kettle, it’s 6 years old and I’ve cleaned it 3-4 times and it’s glass so obviously it would really notice if it was all lime-scaled up. I do use a brita water filter too ❤
Put a few sliced lemon in it and it will clean is as well!

It's nothing dangerous and the same thing happens if you boil it in a pan on the stove. Cold water can have more lime dissolved in the water than hot water can.
I'm so excited for all the charities that get 3 free freezers, microwaves, air fryers, etc! Some people are going to be VERY happy!

I used to work for appliance store , a lot of times people return things claiming they don't work , when in fact they just didn't know how to use it properly . Or they got them as gifts from someone and got duplicates or just don't like it. OR found then somewhere else a little cheaper. SO we always had to check the small appliances if they are working not and in 90% of the cases they was perfectly fine.

Mia, you're absolutely right about the products for older people. A lot of those as seen on TV ads are often products previously designed for those who are elderly and/disabled. It's so important to point that out rather than make fun!
I second this! It is very important to point it out to those who don’t know already! I’m young, but I have a connective tissue disorder that makes me “floppy” as I like to call it 🤣 there are so many gadgets that allow me to actually cook for myself or clean things that would be harder to clean normally, so when I hear someone say “what even is the point of this?!”, I know they haven’t fully thought out all the possible people it’s marketed to 😅

11:20 That white stuff is mineralization. It happens when the water is very hard. For the best tasting water, it's best to start with filtered or distilled water. A lot of people don't know this, hence they return kettles because of "white flakes".
The sediment (white sprinkles) in the electric kettles is a common issue when using tap water. If you boil water with a little vinegar every few weeks it gets rid of the sediment. Follow up with just water once to remove the vinegar taste.

Also i use citric acid for the same reason, but it smells nicer

It's because of water hardness. It wouldn't happen if the water had normal hardness levels (like in bottled water). (I had a class the previous semester that we discussed this on the first day). Not all tap water has this issue, but it's more common in certain areas because of the sources we get our water from. (It's difficult to explain it in English since I haven't learned the english terminology yet)

the toaster oven with the "warped door" I actually think they are right... when you look at it from the side it looks like the door isnt flush against the sides, so a lot of hot air will be escaping from it

Probably when she was younger but not to the extreme. Because their relationship is like how my mom and I’s are but we’d butt heads a bit when I was younger but we almost never ever do now. I just took her out for wine and cheese tasting the other week ^~^ OMG WAIT I HAVE TO GO FIND OUT HOW HER TRIP WENT!

She was a little rough around the edges when I grew up (but so was I, and I would have acted the same way she did if I had to deal with teenage me, lol) but now we're best friends. We genuinely never disagree on anything these days, not just to be civil but because we really do agree on everything and like the same things. We don't get to see each other that often these days but when we do we're often even wearing similar outfits accidentally.

Unfortunately for the fryer someone probably had the same one with a broken cord so they bought a new onejust for the cord then returned it saying it was missing to get they're money back. It happens all the time at the Canadian Tire near me in NS. Things will be returned saying the customer was "unhappy" with it but come to find out there's a part missing!

The second slot on the toaster usually only works when the first slot is also down if that makes sense. Worth trying it as I know that's how some toasters operate x
That is such a weird thing for a toaster to do. I've never used a toaster like that. They usually don't stay down when they're not turned on/plugged un though.
That's exactly right - many double toasters work like that - if you only do one or two you use the left side of it. It should explain that in the instructions

Yep, we had a four slot like that. Only one side worked for two slices. I returned for an exhange as one side would wear out too fast.

You two killed me; "what is this world coming to if people are buying coffee pots, going potty in them & returning them?" Also your video packaging your wedding invites gave me some great ideas for mine (I'm also engaged) so thank you & Congratulations to you & Stuart, you two are PRECIOUS!
A guy I did my medical intership with used to heat up soup and hot dogs in our coffee pot since there wasn't a microwave (staff are _strongly_ encouraged to eat in the cafeteria and we even get free meals. Edit: *Since patients can have reactions to smells* but coffee is allowed since medical staff wld probably revolt with out coffee. ) idk what his deal was, the nurses obviously disliked him.
He was weird for sure and now he's somebody's doctor. 🙃

In Denmark kettles also get the white stuff but it’s because of the calcium in our water, sometimes even pots can get it, you just gotta clean it a bit more often and look out for it to not pour with the water, which can be accomplices by kettles having a good filter or pouring slowly😊
I used to work at Bed bath and beyond (it’s a chain in the us idk if it’s in Canada) and fun fact, a lot of the time people will bring items back and claim they’re broken or defective and the product is actually fine because some people think if they say they just don’t need it anymore or they changed their minds on it they think we will deny the return. Sometimes employees won’t check the product to see if it really is broken and they will just damage it out. So that’s why you’re getting some good products that are pretty much new

Okay, 2 things.
1. I have that can opener and it is not supposed to sound like that. For sure broken. Normally a 10/10 purchase when it works.
2. The excitement level on the popcorn popper is the exact vibe that makes me love this channel!
I used to have that can opener too and it was great. But eventually the blade got too dull.

With the toaster that was only working on one side, some toasters (like the one I have) are meant to go down on one side first, so if the first of the two slots are full, then the second two slots will work too, it’s worth trying with four slices of bread! 🍞🍞

Recently new subscriber so watching old stuff! One thing that really impresses me is how much she donates to charities after thoroughly inspecting each item! Most UA-cam channels either resell themselves or will donate but don't appear to be too concerned about the condition!
The segment of this where you both suggested that A. Possibly someone out there pooped in a coffee maker and returned it, or that B. one of you farted made my entire week. That was so funny I laughed out loud. You two remind me so much of my mom and I. Such good sense of humour
Our toaster lever won't stay down unless the darkness knob is adjusted. Since it is a new appliance, maybe the knobs are automatically set on "0" darkness from the factory.
Also sometimes the right slot only works when you are toasting 3 or 4 slices all at once

Mia! I think the vacuum does work, it's bag was just full and not suctioning well because of all the dust. If you change the bag and cleaned the insides I bet it would work wonders!

It's interesting to see you learn about all these different appliances. Electric kettles use *a lot* of energy cause they boil a small amount of water very quickly. Freezers use very little energy, especially when they're full of frozen food.
so do space heaters those make your electric bill skyrocket
The toaster that doesn't stay down is just missing a stick that goes out when you pull the trigger down and release it when it's done or when you press the button. It's an easy fix.
It also might be that that is side "number two". I had a toaster like that once where it would only work if the first side was already being used. It was weird

People returned kettles because they have limescale buildup?? That's on your hard water, not the kettle. I live in Wiltshire England and that stuff builds up insanely fast in kettles, on taps...everywhere any water sits for more than two seconds. You can buy descaling products or just use white vinegar. There is nothing wrong with the product. They're getting their money back or free, new appliances for no reason other than they can't figure out how to deal with limescale.

You can get that white stuff out of the kettles with just citric acid :) its just limescale from the water and you can find citric acid in farmasist typically

For the kettles, soak with vinegar while they are OFF, or get a lime scale remover. It could have been hard water from the factory where they were tested, or from the previous house. But it can easily be removed!
The shop vac looks like it has something blocking the filter. Try removing the blue plastic/paper that’s stuck on the under side of the lid and it should have better suction!
I was thinking the same thing. If they used it for a project that has grass it could have been wet and clogged the filter.
Rinse the hose out with hot water and a little bleach and let it clear the hose

For the air fryer missing it's cord, there should be a way to contact the company and either purchase a replacement cord or they may ship a replacement for free.
We had a 4 slice toaster where you had to fill up one side before the other side would stay down. It was intended to work that way. I have a feeling that’s how your toaster worked, too.

20:00 Mia, this is used to cook hotpot because the box have the word”火锅” which mean hotpot in Chinese, I don't know if this can be used for other purposes but it’s supposed to be use for cooking hotpot only.
How you use: You first put water, then put the soup base/monosmsodium glutamate, and then turn on the heat to make the water boil. After that you can turn low heat and add any ingredients you want, such as meat, vegetables, fish balls, etc.
There have two part is because some people want to eat spicy soup but some might can’t eat spicy so have two part which can cook two type of soup🥰
