Wow this is probably the best before you play video I've watched. No spoilers whatsoever and all quite useful tips. Just started playing today and already loving the game!
Just got the game a few days ago. There's so little info/help online. This content was spot on and so helpful! Even though the video is old, I can vouch that it's still current! Thanks heaps. Dan NZ
I just grabbed XCOM 2 for my ipad and felt really overwhelmed. So much of the content on YT feels a little too deep; this was exactly what I was looking for! Now let's go try to not fail mission 2 again.
One thing that someone suggested to me was to abuse the defense mission. At some point UFOs intercept the avenger and it a mission that never ends into you destroy the beacon and you can just sit back in full cover and mow down tons of enemies to get your guys high promotions, especially useful if you suck at keeping your guys out of the hospital. It’s easy to get late in the game with only a bunch of corporals to lieutenant.
here mad late after scooping the collection last week, a lot of the advice and tips videos can be long winded and a bit much but this was crisp, funny and easily explained you got a subscriber outta me 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Dude it’s insane how you don’t have that much subscribers wtffff I thought you had a lot and was shocked. Definitely subscribed, just bought this game and loving it. Thank you for the awesome video.
Wow. I got this game like a month ago and have not started it yet. It's just so daunting; I've never really played a tactical game like this. I am mostly an RPGer. I've played games like Pillars of Eternity (both), Divinity OS (both), Baldur's Gate 1, 2, and 3. So, this is a learning curve for me I think.
Solid video! Thanks man, def learned some things I didn't know. Am playing on Rookie and felt like I was being a baby, but I'm glad I did so as this is my first tactical turn-based game in a very very long time.
Just got it on the switch and am getting my ass kicked on Rookie difficulty, 3 missions in. Thank you for your tips. I also started building a workshop first and now I kinda understand i'm screwed and it was the worst idea for a first building, but I also don't want to restart, I got attached to my crippled soldiers :( Cheers.
What about tips on how to prioritize the missions on the world map as there are usually 3-4 choices at any given time, and I've already made some bad choices (unknowingly) . Tips?
Heh, i've been playing turned based tactical for a while and i started on rookie and still certain missions are really tough(lost horde/assassination, chosen). Getting better but im surprised rookie is as rough as it is.
Laughs in gunslinger you bring 2 gunslinger and 2 snipers you can clear out most missions easy. Assault with covert is nice if you want 4 snipers with squad sight they dont break stealth when team does so he scouts as they one shot everything from the start. The 6th guy is usually a. Hacker for the free shit
I know I'm late to this party but I got it on the switch that's my excuse. ANYWAYS...I've been doing a fun challenge where I make 8 to 10 of my friends into units you can get, with one being a mech you can get later in the game, and the others becoming the main soldiers. The challenge is this: if I run out of my squad mates, OR if myself dies at any time, the run fails, and I have to restart. I love playing this way but I'm wondering if you have ever done this yourself.
I spend years playing Hearthstone the card game and Hearthstone Battlegrounds, an auto-battler but they are a different genre with less variables perhaps as compared to XCOM2 so should I still start on Rookie? Btw this game is currently just $3 on PS or $10 for collection lol. What a steal.
Sooooo I just want to know if it's possible to have one solid party like a Final Fantasy game. If my soldier dies, is there really absolutely no way to get them back? Because for the way I want to play it would be like playing FF7 and if Barret or Cloud dies they are permanently out of the game. Haha I really hope that's not the case because what's the point of detailed customization if the person you take your time to create is just dead permanently. I want to role play with Contra characters and hopefully a cyborg ninja type etc. Ma dream team.
Good video! However, I think you might have pointed out that there are some differences between the console and the PC desktop versions - thinking mods here. Also, I hate to even THINK about it, but there are many frustrations in the beginning of the game that MUST be taken into account, such as soldier panic and the initial lag in getting the Avenger built up. It seems to run on a random formula - sometimes engineers are everywhere, sometimes they are hard to find. Another frustration - hackers should generally go for the first or second choice when they try to override a system. Even if the game says you have a 75% (or more) chance of taking over a mechanical unit, you probably won’t be able to do it. (Oh oh! Now you’ve given the unit better stats and wasted a turn!) Yeah, that happened to me a lot before I just quit doing that! Oh, and I would also point out that jumping back and forth on the skill tree options is probably the best choice for every build. But, that’s an experienced point of view; players need to play (and lose) to figure out what they want their soldiers to do. If there was ONE thing I’d suggest for mid-game, it’s to get psionics on line asap! A psionic soldier is GOLDEN! But this is a great intro to the game as is - just wanted to throw in a few more ideas for new players. :> )
Complete noob here, I'm interested in the game and I found it on sale, but I also found a DLC called "war of the chosen". Should I buy them both? Or should I play the game first then add the DLC later?
Hey Major, I'm the guy from the video. The War of the Chosen expansion seamlessly integrates into the main campaign from the base game but adds a ton of content and QoL improvements, so for the definitive xcom 2 experience I'd recommend getting both. Thanks for your question!
Damn it...I am missing out. I need to get my ass some of these games. #ChortleCommanders Nice to see you bud, and thank you for the tips. Hopefully I can aquire this and use these tips in the future. :)
I wish I found this a week ago, I didn't realize after you unlock the technology you had to pay for it in the engineering area, I got to like 60-70 turns using the base weapons from the beginning of the game no rail guns, no advanced launchers, no boosted armor. I was losing my mind asking myself how anyone could possibly beat this game 😂
I just bought xcom 2. Should I play with shens gift and alien hunter for the first time? or disable everything the first time and then enable it the second time along with war of the chosen?
Great video for any beginner! perfectly delivered and covered all the key points. Thanks dudes!

Just bought X Com 2 and of all the YT vids explaining how to play, this was the most concise and to the point absolutely brilliant.

Great video ! I just bought this game for like 9 bucks so i'm gonna give it a shot.
This is what I call an introduction to a game! Thanks!
My utmost apologies Chortlers. The thing may have to be pushed to 10:30pm or nearing 11:00pm. Just a heads-up.
Best beginners guide video I have watched for any game. Thanks my guy 😊
Is anyone gonna ignore the fact that he starts the video out like Captain America's scenes in Spiderman: Homecoming? I love it!
It was hilarious how many takes that took 😂
Great video, surprised you don't have more subs
Thanks we appreciate it! You should consider subscribing we have great content like this 6 days a week!

I swear, I tried many, many times during the last 6 years. Cannot manage the frustration of a 95% chance shotgun hit... MISSED. And not only once.
Awesome video, man. Thank you for the tips. Game is hard as shit
Rushed a bit and lost all my characters. Don’t even want to restart from before the mission.
Make your soldiers people you don't like and play Legend/Ironman. Pretty therapeutic IMO :)
I've played turn-based tactical games before, I've done the tutorial, and oh man! I'm still getting my ass whooped!
thanks! super useful
great video

Great Video.
man i kicked ass in enemy unknown, but i can’t even beat the first level without casualties.
I think your supposed to lose people in that mission. I could be wrong.

great vid boss. decent content and good delivery, especially editing. maybe a touch oversimplified.
🌿Good video🍄😸👍
I want to give a like but it's at 420 right meow. 🙆
I have people die in the first 2 missions. God I suck at tactics.
green screen at 20 fps..cool.
This doesn’t help you get started the controls take ages to master
PC is better for xcom, tried both, the grenades made me unable to play the console
Stop looking at God when you're talking to me!
Jesus loves you everybody

It’s too hard I always get the alien base built too fast
Nope this wasn't 3 years ago f off with that
🤡
