The one thing I don't get is why they got rid of bulletproof heli windows lol AA was already broken before the update now it's just impossible to fly anywhere near aa like you can't even be in line of sight of any AA or it's just instant death... like I mean the AA could be halfway across the map and all they'd need to do land is like 3-4 bullets out of their entire cross map mag dump to kill your heli

I played one round in the loach scout and I tested the loach CAS in a live range server and from that limited experience, I don't really have much negative to say. I think the flight model is fine (for the loach) and I think the instrument panel is rough but not impossible to use. As for AA guns being able to shoot out pilots now, I feel a little bad for transport pilots, but I think that's totally fair for the loach. In the one game I played as the loach scout, I only died once and that was to a AA gun shooting me out and I think that was fine as I just got too close. The rest of the game I was able to use both speed and distance to dodge and then mark them for my team. As for the very weak engine, firstly, it seems to be a total crap shoot to just hit it when it's sitting still in front of you, not mentioning it flying 100ft away and moving and secondly, I feel like it's pushing the loach towards using it's speed and maneuverability to its advantage by doing quick attack runs and then getting out of dodge rather then sticking too close to a target. I do believe that it's engine is it's biggest weakness, but if played correctly, I don't think it's that big of a deal. In the vein of quick attack runs, and I'm surprised you didn't mention this, but the loach's rockets can one shot (or use the full 7 rockets) wheeled IFVs and maybe even tracked IFVs. For clarity, I was able to destroy the Turk tracked IFV in one volley which I know the vic is one the weaker end, so I guess the jury is still out on what would happen to a Bradley or a BMP-2, but wheeled IFVs can easily be one volleyed . Either way, I think if you use the loach CAS as a hit and run platform, I think it's very strong. That being said, has anyone actually seen the air wing PMC division get picked? Squad Maps says that it can be selected on any non-infantry focused map (i.e. small map) and only cannot be on defense of invasion layers but everything else should be free game, but I have yet to see it picked period. Maybe I'm just having bad luck but it makes me feel like the loach CAS is probably just them testing CAS helis and what we're currently seeing is just a drip feed of the loach CAS into a very small about of games to see what happens
I mean the platform it’s based on came out in the 60s and it wasn’t meant to withstand heavy fire. I know the Huey is from the 60s too but that was designed with transport in mind. Personally, I’m glad it’s vulnerable because it’s too fast and nimble to hit with sustained fire so the pilot doesn’t get to feel they can just fly anywhere without consequences.

It always amazes me how much they rush their updates just to get a lot of new blueberries playing and especially paying the game, only to later realize that they essentially made it worse.
they can't make the CAS too OP since most factions don't have a dedicated anti-air weapon. there's definitely some improvements they can make but also they shouldn't make it like some mods that let you sit 1km away and orbital strike infantry with a gatling gun, they have to add manpads first. also i think that the loach being ineffective as CAS makes sense in game because it's not designed as a CAS aircraft irl

Why not just make it a decent heli, but give every faction the ability to place AA gun emplacements on fobs... like what steel division did
I think it’s in-line with its real life characteristics. Vietnam statistics show it was prone to crashing and getting shot down even when they had Cobra gunship escort. Of the almost 1200 in Vietnam, over half were shot down or crashed.

It takes 2 rifle bullets at a maximum to shoot the engine, and there are no autorotation physics in squad.... 2 lucky shots and you are dead because when you lose your engine while flying, there is no saving the heli...
For the engine part, this heli flies extremely fast, by the time the machine gunner mounts up, the strike would already be over and the helo would have flown away
You dont need to hover with this thing, so you dont realy need the hover marker If you get engined by two shots, why should you ever risk to carefully hover? What i would say the problem you have is, you are just not used to it. And yes it doesnt feel like the other heli but is it supposed to? Its not a heavy Airship chinese thing. Its an fast thing. Btw the crazy stuff you can do with it, you can manage to just circle an house while always facing the house with the mini meaning you can just put the full mini mag in one hab I think when the pilots will learn the heli and know how to use it, it could be one of the strongest thing against inf

@kutler-z4z on name claim servers yes, but fcfs (first come first serve) servers exist for a reason. It also has a 6 min spawn delay so plenty of time to load in and make a squad trying to grab it
If you did this in a local server I wouldn't take the damage at facevalue, damage and pen is all kinds of fucked up, in local a BMP will kill an Abrams in the side in like 30 shots from AP
I was looking forward to the update but in classic OWI fashion they fd it up. The engine getting blown up by 1-2 bullets is hilarious to me along with the rest of the "features"

@federicoandreoletti4476 if you're gonna practice with helis, please use an online server. There are plenty of servers that run Jensens training range. The heli physics are different between offline and online. I will link an older video showing how it affects heli physics
OWI thinks a PMC faction will make up for the BS they’ve been pulling. It’s as if they’re just gauging what the modders bring into the game and go off that. (Shitty execution however) they should do that these people (modders) play the game and know what we the gamers want. I’ve given up flying Helis in vanilla. Even tho their handling in GE is not the best. It’s much better than waiting 20 min. That’s for sure. OWI needs to pull the finger out. Half of my servers dedicated players have left for shitty decisions OWI has made over the past year and the will continue to leave unless something is changed.
I am seriously curious as to what all these shitty decision are, what is the shit they have been pulling? the community is mostly thriving, the game is as alive as it has ever been and I have never seen this many dedicated people on the server I play on before. I have 1200 hours on the game and more then half of those where on one server that has now blossemed to three dedicated servers, a post scriptum server and more. Lots of active clans, almost nothing but enjoyment from the game with a few grudge points here and there. The only reason I see people leaving the community is because they dont really belong or they didnt like the ICO. Some people also just take breaks after playing the game for hundreds or even thousands of hours.
I crashed this thing twice going back to main because I J-hook ngl I’d made me feel like I was a bad pilot but something inside of me told me there was something wrong with the helo, thx. I considere myself a good pilot u thought I was just having a bad day.(I rage quitted) 😅
@Lazzah101 agreed... however they did add some cool things to the game, none of them work that well in practice... honestly my favorite thing I've seen in the update so far was the WPMC c-4 that has a detonator (like ins ied's) yet the c-4 doesn't stick to vehicles or players...
