If you're tired of sitting in ages-long briefings and being commanded around by teenagers, I recommend finding a good Conflict server to play on! It's Reforger's main, like, this is what you're playing the game for gamemode and as long as you maneuver around some of the bad servers (Bad moderation, adding 300 different cosmetic mods for SUPER COOL TACTICOOL SKULL MASKS IN 12 DIFFERENT VARIANTS!! and that kind of thing) it can be a blast to try to make an impact in a large war with a group of randos just as pebble-brained as you and I

Maybe I'm a gambler in the making, because the reason I stick with GM mode is for those times when the GM is actually cooking some good shit and you get some genuinely good Ops going. I gotta agree on the tacticool stuff though. Its so over the top and I wish we had more mods that expanded on the cold war stuff. It also makes the lobby spend way more time at the arsenal boxes than usual.

@@keenanscruton3973 iirc darkgru is one of the ones with a billion mods for no good reason. Guess it wouldn't hurt to check out, people have different tastes. If it's the one I remember though I think there's definitely better out there
I am playing arma series since 2002, and I can say that your videos is the true arma experience. Some People forgot that arma always has been a sandbox that gives you tools to play the game how ever you want and have fun.
This is a Squad focused community and thats been something the Squad communities been in notorious denial of for about a decade now. Most either picked up Arma briefly, couldnt grasp it and rage quit. The majority of it has never touched the series and just goes off bizarre assumptions. In PRs heyday you never met player in either game who didnt play the other. Squad seems to have turned to a more typical tourny style meta game echo chamber community. Its more like a social club than it is a game people play as a team focused tactical shooter.
Arma is whatever you want it to be. People have even made platformers out of it. BI themselves have made puzzle games with it. Theres servers that run similar to Squad, nam and mog servers for instance are very similar but with a bit more strategic and tactical depth. Basically Squad without the tourny style meta focus. Other servers are "super serial milsim" ops. They can be fun if youre in the right mood. Others are just complete fuck around fests. Like KOTH for instance. Its a COD style game mode. So many genres are just Arma spinoffs, Squad style BF milsim hybrids, extraction shooters, PUBG, hardcore survivals, even games like This Land is My Land are just liberation spinoffs.
Right now the Squad is starting to show tis age and the communities migrating. Bi making game modes like Conflict that rival Squad backed by a modding community that can provide any era from WW2 to futuristic, even HALO/Star Wars mods is just something OWI cant compete with and it seems the Squad community is starting to split. The fanboy elitist echo chamber types are approaching meltdown mode, the more normal side of the community is simply migrating to the clearly better choice. OWI got too greedy in my opinion. Instead of going the PR route of including all these eras they split them into separate titles. As Reforger continues its much more rapid development it will suck a huge portion from Squad. When Arma 4 releases its basically OWIs death sentence.
So true... Arma is about junky servers, walking 20 minutes and listening bad jokes from mates and duying to teammate or a stray bullet, it is very fun neverless. You can play serious missions, be tactical and shit, but first of all ARMA is amazing sandbox

What? OWI has been complete shit until basically last one-two years, and Arma has never really been playable.
OWI seem to be getting their shit together after nearly 10 years, how long has it taken for Bohemia Interactive? And what do they have to show for it? DayZ?
It's like saying DICE is a good game developer because of Dessert Combat, Forgotten Hope or Project Reality?
I mean, whomever picks up the true PR experience will get a trophy, but I doubt it will be BI, OWI is more likely, but also unprobable.

@@davidcarlsson1396 Uhh how has Arma never been playable lol? Ive been playing that series since the early 2000s? Arma 3 has had more players than Squad at any given time for its entire lifespan lol. I have 3.5k hours on Arma 3 and still dont get bored. Squad became too repetitive and easy after around 900. It doesnt offer enough and its a tourny meta focused shooter.
The Squad player base is just too low skill to keep it interesting, which is probably why they cant play Arma. They feel like NPCs to play with. They also just talk way too fucking much. Youre in a heavy CQC firefight? Yeah great time to chat it up. Armas a lot better in terms of authentic teamwork and communication focused gameplay. Wow I can turn my radio off when in heavy combat so I can actually hear enemies and talk to the friendlies I actually need to talk to? So crazy.
Squad feels much more like an airsoft simulator. With Reforger though BI has already picked up the true PR experience but modernized. Its very close to what PR devs promised their standalone full title game would be before selling out. They used to always blame the BF2 engine for the limitations and would talk about what their full vision will eventually look like. Sadly they sold out to cultivate low cognition airsoft type kids because thats where the moneys at.
@@SackLexaRus I have bad news, that just means youre a noob lol. If youre good at Arma it feels more like hunting people. Even on the higher difficulty Invade and Annex servers I kill higher than the CAS pilots lol. The Reforger servers I play Im pretty hated by US teams lol. They know my name and they know I find where they stage and wreck them. Ill let them super FOB it up then attack and just demolish them.
For me that's more what Armas about and where the realism hits hard. To be fair most players are low skill and kind of lost, just following anyone willing to lead. Similar to Squad in that aspect. But more like PR was you can become one of those infamous players the enemy team dreads when they see your name join the server. Kind of like infamous fighters and units throughout history. They would lower the enemies morale instantly just by being on the battlefield. If you played PR in its heyday you probably remember Pendeho for instance. Guy was a monster insurgent and US teams would see him and just panic lol. He would set grenade traps all over cache locations and knew them by heart. He was also nasty with IEDs, knew just where to put them.
Its also why Squad gets super toxic though. People lash out at better players because everyone in Squad thinks they know what theyre doing best and everyone should listen to them. When they have terrible track records and nothing to show for it they start going through this circular logic that rotates between. "OMG its not Arma its just for fun its not that serious" to "We lost because you guys wouldnt listen to me, all the other SLs are noobs or pretending this is COD! You need to take it more seriously and work as a team!". You cant have both lol. Squads also way more determined by kills even though they deny it. One well placed MG can cut off an entire enemy team. In Arma they will just go around you. In Squad they will smoke and push like its ww2.

@@CarlosVixil I think it's more the fact that he could have given an actual reason that the SL wouldn't want them having the bayonets on. Maybe there's some kind of disadvantage or debuff you get from running around with them on... but his reasoning was just "wah you weren't given permission to have fun, do what I say cause because"

Same feeling I get with Squad. Looks cool and I want to enjoy it but I'm personally not a fan of being screamed at by a squad leader in a different language while constantly getting killed by a guy 100 meters away in a bush that I never noticed. Yeah MilSims are an acquired tasted
@@aamacanSquad is fun man. Just depends on the server. Try the EGC server. I’ve been talked shit to for not knowing how to play on other “new players welcome” servers but I’d say the EGC people are the most chill/patient, so I mainly play on their server
@@inevitable408the new player servers are great when you get a good squad but you also get a lot of people without mics which kinda ruins it. Some squad leads take it far too seriously but there’s a great community on a few of the servers. Also try Star Wars mod cuz it’s amazing

I have been playing ArmA since ArmA 3 was in beta and now playing Reforger. I love what you can do with it, but the experience on public servers always depends on who else is on the servers. The people make or break a good time. I have had the best times and the worst times playing Reforger, and it is great to see funny and honest "reviews". Cheers.

The great thing about the Arma series in general is that it can be the most in depth, badass, and immersive experience ever, or, it can be the silliest dumbest and funniest derpfest ever. just depends how you play it and who you play it with lol, literally the truest sandbox there is

I got myself this game a while ago, and I’ve learned how to play decently. If you need tips on the basics of the map and how to use your inventory or vehicles, there are handy tutorials on the main menu that will take you through first aid, gunplay and driving. As for thing to do, I personally like sitting around and building shit at bases, or running around as a Medic and failing to do my job.

Trying to get into Nam servers are a pain dude! Always full but when I get in helicopters start going down baby! I was born in the wrong country during the wrong time because WOW am I a good Viet cong. Even nailed one of our own sky dragons by accident because they told me it was enemy during the night. Absolutely nailed the poor bastard but watching it go down like a rock had to be the funniest thing

today I have had downloaded and tried out Arma "Reforga" - first server was OG I suppose, and there was lots of dudes going crazy about every single fucking thing, barking orders like cunts, switching moods and so on... after a while this server crashed so I have had looked up some other servers, KOTH one of them said, so I have joined in on it...
And got stuck in a loop - buy a vehicle, jump inside it, others just swarming in, vehicle capacity full, pedal to the metal, reach the hill, disembark, kill one or two enemies, then die.
If it was not for my shitty GPU which strugless to keep it above 30 FPS, all the while CPU is at 20% usage, I would say that I would probably get more kills and more action - was I having fun? Surprisingly, yes, yes I did and will probably upgrade my GPU and monitor and quite surprisingly, I will see more of what Arma "Reforga" has to offer 😀
All in all, I am having lots of fun since I have switched from PS4 to PC, I just love the fact that I can switch between so many FPS shooters, and like you have said slorgs previously - I wish that Arma Reforger would have had the same interface and squad mechanics as Squad, not to mention the one key thing for which I ABSOLUTELY love Squad: the game is made so that everyone roughly sees the same thing.

Most milsims have private servers where they do take it serious about the ops. Unlike the pub server. Everyone doesn't listen, and team kills in the spawn. But that's in just about every server.
