No he didn't, the clue's in the name "Hagglund!" All he did was put a new body on it, impressive, but NOT a huge feat of design/engineering/innovation!

Can't believe that linkage held on the drop down the bank, very good job, you ran it ragged for a true endurance test and it really stood on both feet all the way.
Very nice video, and nice vehicle. :) I've tried both metal tracks and pure rubber tracks, and I have to say, if I was to make tracked vehicle today, I'd go with pure rubber with a mighty aggressive pattern on the track, they just perform better in rocky terrain and on asphalt.
I used to work on Hagglunds in the Army and the only thing that limited their 'go anywhere' ability was the lack of diff locks......great machine just the same............... excellent vid...
Pure example how traction is a greater necessity than horse power. It’s all about the tracks baby! Great job there sir and now let’s put some on load on that bed.
why would people hate this guy He built this custom snow machine that is very kool and functions as intended or even better. I would love a truck like this. a go anywhere truck. Great job on a very innovative idea and its articulated.
shoulda staggard the stud patter so they didnt slip in the grooves they made in the ice trying to get out make the patter so that every stud has its own path if they you spin
No Shit! That is badass! After getting stuck in Idaho for four and a half months last year I wish I had something like this then. Keep On Rockin in the Free World 🎸
UA-cam never fails to amaze us. All the know it all come out but don't have anything remotely close to building something like this. Unbelievable how many trolls run diarrhea at the mouth. LOL
That is impressive going up very steep hills that are covered with snow and ice and then going through that creek with ice that is very impressive you've came up with a very good product for the market.
Ya' gotta' love how they just omit showing how he got out of the water! Yeah - just go on to the next scene when he's all clear and ready to go again!!!
My uncle had a Weasel from WWII. It could swim. He was a 10 Mountain division ski trooper in WWII . He purchased three vehicles after the war and used to for parts.
5:50 - 7:00 had cuts, likely because it took a bit of work, but it still got out on it's own. It was just a matter of backing up and trying again. I'd consider that the hairiest moment. Of course any vehicle no matter how capable, can get in a spot that was too much for it... We saw it get out of the above, we also saw it climb extremely steep terrain anything else would have slid down, it did anything one could hope to get out of with any other vehicle. If there were things it needed assistance with... those were scenarios that wouldn't normally be attempted, except in the case of testing limits, like these guys were doing. In an actual critical situation they would not deliberately try and tackle even more difficult situations they could avoid or go around. Lastly, everyone claiming that there were cuts whenever it got stuck... there was only _one_ instance towards the end that didn't actually show it get out on its own accord... All those cuts seemed to be about cutting out the fat, the vehicle may have had to take more time than we'd like and all the backing up and trying again is boring to watch, but the point is that almost every time it succeeded.
Congratulations on your superior quality vehicle. That is some good old Yankee engineering. I don't know if it will help but I'll throw it out there. When the rig got "stuck" at 8:51 if you had a set of hydraulic rams that could articulate the track angle you may have been able to shift enough weight onto the cleats to secure traction. It may be more trouble than it's worth, but I seen it in my head so I'm sharing it with yah. I'm currently researching doing this to a Subaru brat.
You guys really know how to wrap track. Good job. You can save those cleats that are too hard, just heat them up to 700F for half an hour and they will be nice and springy.
I would really liked to have seen how he got out of his "stuck" conditions - cutting the vid at the tight spots is not good. What happened? Did you call in a wrecker or did he get out himself?
What a great inguniuty. I mean you created that all your self thats awesome. And how you found how to steer the chevy body all that enginerring. Thats incredible
Badass build! I wonder what rubberized track plates with metal spikes would fair in comparison to your all metal track plates. Either way,, Must be a lot of fun to play with your custom fabricated toys!
Not too narrow, but narrow enough it could be offset some ways even like 3" would be alot. The tracks are honestly too long for high speed travel, I'd say it's best used with detroit diesel for towing. It could also be hydraulic, like a tractor, so there's that as well.
I like it he had few bad spots when came coming out the water onto ice but worked good. At least he put individual suspension on his boggy wheels that made for better traction and ride only thing I saw that would become issues later is having the drive sprocket out front that puts lots of shock to it n will cause damage. That's why low track dozers, excavators, tanks have them to back. If he could jack up the framework n make the tracks on a high drive system extended the tracks forward some or make like the wedge style see on some new units. That also make truck higher out the water n keep interior drier.
Mr. ПоделкинЦ ага, а при чем здесь Шевроле? Надо быть психом, чтобы: а) лазить на легковушке по говнам б) переходить в профиль и выискивать к чему бы там зацепиться, чем бы потроллить...
So first off badass second the design is beyond flawless it looks like it's straight from a factory you guys should present this design to Chevy you could possibly make big bucks
sweet creation, seems like the front tracks could be further forward unless thats something you looked into and just didnt work out lot better than what i could do, but i think it could def. use a snorkel just in case you go in higher water great job!
thats an awesome truck you've built there is there a drive shaft thats attached to the rear trailer i love it most unique chevy pick up i've ever seen.
Nice looking and reasonably useful. looks like you done a lot of figuring things out. I give ya credit for making something you don't see everyday.I would like to see how you put things together. I didn't see much suppression between truck and tracks. Didn't see the bogie wheels flexing a lot. Must be a brain rattling rough ride. Thanks for sharing. btw who gives a shit how you got unstuck.
Figured out he mated the Chevy Colorado cab to a Hagglunds BV206 tracked amphibian. The Hagglunds BV206 tracked amphibian have several variants most use a tracked trailer and are used by military's around the world.
Whoa... is that a hydro-static transmission setup? I see an oil filter in the wheel well. That's a pretty neat setup. Wonder how he keeps the front tracks from bending too far--you can see the flex at 7:30 towards the frame of the pickup.
The customization of the Colorado it's self is amazing... the Tracks are sweet too.. But if one were to purchase these would they have to have their truck modified this heavily?
Why are people hating on this guy so much? He made that himself. I guarantee non of you keyboard warriors can do that... Cool stuff man!

AMAZING TRACKS! That's a nice shop setup too... Great video!
Looks like Lake Tahoe, could use some these tracks!! Great video! Thanks for taking us thru the process!!
They should name this thing "Truck Norris".
Truck yeah
***** Awesome!
Truck o saurus Rex
Excellent traction from the tracks. This should tame the wildest winters nature can throw.

Reminds me of the Gamma Goats we had in the Marine Corps.
Now that was very interesting a whole new steering system and looked like a hydraulic rear unit drive very innovative.
I'm seriously impressed.

I love how the engine belt is squeaking and slipping for dear life at the end.
Awesome machine. It's like a Chevy truck, M1 Abrams , and a Gamagoat all mixed together. I want it!

Hell yah Big Sky Country!!!
Bad ass machine. I agree, a wider wheel base would make it much more stable and more effective in all conditions. Great design.
This is a first for me! Thanks so much for sharing!! Thumbs Up!!
Very impressive and they look great... awesome. Great job and meticulous detail.

@9:00, you need an ARB air locker ;)
ㅛㅛ
lockers would probably cause a lot of things to start breaking...with this much traction he is probably better off having some slippage
Dreded that's why you have a ARB locker, they can be switched.
A locked diff wont work
Great Idea here, you are on to something BIG here. Great job. Thank you for this info.
5:50 now thats pretty impressive
Nice job on the creek, nice to see you give a damn about the environment
To many cuts in the video when things got hairy
Agreed
There was a Jeep was pulling them out thats kind of embarrassing.

Totally agree. Every time it gets tough the video cuts away. Wtf? Better off with 4x4 and a winch. Looks award and slow
Edited, a jeep pulled them out

Differential lock would make it more awesome.
+kistuszek positraction would make them work way better and not just slip
+Loops P positrac was just gm brand name for lsd and full lock diffs

Detroit Locker is what you need for these. 100% locked when powered.
Cant full spoll tracks if you want to turn eack track has to stop to turn just like a dozer
It is amazing how smart some people are. To all the keyboard know it alls I would like to see a video of you accomplishments. Thanks for the video.

dude major props those tracks are badass no other words. one thing id change is a wider "wheel" base
why you cut out part where he stuck last time? didn't want to show how he was pulled out?
Hey Bill. great job and building and driving!
I would really liked to have seen how he got out of his "stuck" conditions - cutting the vid at the tight spots is not good. What happened? Did you call in a wrecker or did he get out himself?
You must be referring to the one and only instance where it didn't show it making it out on its own?
Shut up
Yeah, that one and ony instance where as far as viewers know, a proper jeep pulled it out.
What a great inguniuty. I mean you created that all your self thats awesome. And how you found how to steer the chevy body all that enginerring. Thats incredible

why doesnt the forklift have any tracks?
Looks awesome. Cut frame. articulation. WOW
they actually put the truck body on an existing articulated tracked chassis, i think its swiss or something.
truks
thats cool when u get stuck u just edit the video
Stuck means you need help to get out just backing up and taking a new line is not stuck>
😂😂😂
This would be a great rescue vehicle for many applications.. Awesome..
need to be spaced aparrt more.... looks to top heavy
the tracks are wide enough so it'll be fine
All that modification and no lockers? Still wicked cool! The best and most unique off-road rigs always seem to come out of Montana.
it seems very fragile to me
Built for traction. not jump...

I should of put this in my first comment, Some Serious engineering went into this. Serious props to the old boy, hes a smart cookie.
how are you getting power to the rear end with that much flex in between?
Hydrostatic drive
I would put a winch on the front, so incace you can't drive yourself out of a jam, otherwise, that is a really cool truck!! Well done!
I feel sorry for that rear drive shaft
I was thinking the same thing
No driveshaft. hydrostatic drive, I've ridden in this, it's the real deal, never seen it stuck! Front and rear tracks are powered.
Very awesome, Chevy is very clean too, I just would have made tracks wider, it looks like it could tip over!
You better watch your feet around those.
I like it he had few bad spots when came coming out the water onto ice but worked good. all you need now is heavy armour and a cannon and you will have a tank
Now that's something you don't see every day, that's pretty awesome.

This is awsome. I'm curious to see how the power is transfered at the rear.
Looks to be they are using the rear driveshaft from the transfer case. I thought I saw the CV joints between truck/trailer.
