Ultimate Alliance has given me hours of enjoyable gameplay over the course of a decade. I feel that I’ve spent enough time playing it to make this tier list reliable and well-founded. I’m just sorry this video took so long to make.
Hope you enjoy and let me know if you have any criticism of the tier list in the comments.

Hey is there still a way to get this game on my ps4? I'm having no luck finding it.
Sorry but hulk is s tier have you ever used his boost ability where he gets bigger and has a much higher attack speed
Silver surfer's heal ability is so powerful and broken that he is automatic s tier
@@metalvenger2 In all of my testing (on Hard difficulty) healing was never necessary or worth giving up a slot just for Silver Surfer.
@@LUMOSHROOM its still broken as it heals any nearby teamates and himself an immediate 50-70% HP (depending on level)
Playing as spider-man and being able to take swords from enemies was the best thing as a kid.
Spitting out quips the whole time “My grandma’s got stronger grip than you”😂
As someone who has been playing this game religiously since 2006, i must say you made an excellent tier list. However, i would argue that moon knight is extremely top tier. I have the game on Xbox one and my moon knight is around lvl 96. When combined with Irom Mans energy reroute and deadpools battle cry I've managed to kill late game bosses with Nunchucks without running out of energy. Also, I wholeheartedly believe that hulk is THE BEST character in the game by a long shot. Ive solo'ed the game on hard twice with him because of Fury and cyclone punch. Keep up the good work tho its nice to see more people play a game i hold so close to my heart
Incredible!!!
And use his Orginal costume to make him a melee monster.
I agree about Moonknight. His Nunchcuks and Extreme Power moves are both boss killers on their own.
@@Talen1976 Exactly
Exactly. MK also happens to have the best Xtreme in the game, and Hulk is mad stupid and mad fun.
This game is so underrated
It got 2 sequels, MUA1 has active (!) modding community and I'm considering getting switch just to play it.
Not really. Just forgotten
@@voidoblivion8673 1 sequel, MUA 3 doesn't exist, getting a switch just to play that trash is insulting.
@@Marceilus its wayyy better than that trash marvrl avengers game
@@carnage1284 duh. But I was just saying its not underrated it was just forgotten. The Ultimate Alliance games were loved and never underrated but we just forgot about them after time
I love how seriously this video takes "high-level play" for Ultimate Alliance. I've also spent many years playing this game and looking into its depth (I've even become a modder for it), so it's fascinating to see someone like-minded going into full detail. :)
How can you mod it? I cant even find it online PC.
@@GameGuy667 check the MarvelMods site, there's a lot of info on modding there! Although most mods only work in the original 2006 PC version. There's not any big loss, though, since pretty much every feature from the remaster has been backported

30 minute video doesn’t start till 11 minutes in holy shit
My older brother and I played wolverine and Deadpool nonstop l, it was awesome
Legend
10:09 is when the list starts. Everything before is him explaining how he came up with rankings and his passion for the game. Good background information but for those just looking for the list.
Hated that the sequels didn't have unique throws, reinacting that first cutscene with Cap was my favorite. Spidey's also made quick work of a single target. Cosmetics actually having a part in gameplay was also really cool
One of my favorites of all time and my real intro to the world of Marvel honestly. This made me a Deadpool fan a decade before the movie came out and taught me about Blade, Ghost Rider, Mephisto and so many other characters.
Who tf has ever given negative feedback to this game? Kids today don’t count, I’m talking about the people who were alive when it came out and played it on their current system of the time.
This was one of my favorite games of all time, i played so much of this and Xmen Apocalypse back in 2006-2009
I'd like to argue/add some points on a few characters.
I understand giving Fury a high B-Tier, but I'd argue he could definitely be low to mid A-Tier, as you focused more on his SMG ability, and didn't talk about his sniper ability at all, which without any strings attached has a 25% chance to instant-kill non-boss enemies, and he's also one of the few characters able to go invisible with his cloaking boost which allows him to basically go invis, and pick off enemies by one shotting them, that's mentioning the fact that invis makes a character get ignored by most enemies as long as they don't attack them, and if they do attack, only the damaged enemy will react, and they'll lose interest in you after a few seconds, and in addition Fury's instant kill sniper goes from a 25% chance on regular enemies (including giants), to a 50% chance on stunned enemies, which essentially means you'll be able to burst down whole groups by picking them off at a distance while they can't even react to you.
On the topic of Wolverine, I completely agree with his placement, but I think you missed out on what could be argued is either his best or second best rage ability, Certain Death (The rage form of his second ability, lunge), Certain Death has a BASE chance 50% instant kill to regular enemies with no upgrades to lunge at all, which puts it on par with Fury's Sniper, and that's without upgrades, I haven't maxed it out yet, but if I'm not mistaken, at max this ability can get close to a 100% instant kill rate, and that's on top of his claw frenzy rage ability.
And two details I think are important to take note of, is that you could potentially argue for Hulk and Sabertooth to be low S-tier, as they may not have the raw DPS or versatility of Deadpool or Wolverine, but they both have Healing Factors, which is a massive plus that I think shouldn't be ignored for them, since it's a highlight of why Deadpool and Wolverine are so good in this game, healing factors make survival an almost non-issue in the game even in the hardest challenges.
One point I'll argue on is the claim that Doom's grab is worthless, it makes me think that you don't know how it works, Doom's grab is unique in that if you grab an enemy, instead of it being the default grab, Doom will start damaging the enemy over time, and you can repeatedly press the regular attack button to extend this grab to be much longer, and can finish the grab with the power attack button to toss the enemy to the side, if they're still alive this will leave them stunned, and also stun any enemies in the way, it's a small point and I don't think it changes his place, but still noteworthy.
Wow fantastic analysis bro! A few things I've learned over my many years of playing MUA on numerous systems are:
1. The trick of giving all ai teammates pick-up weapons. As they last considerably longer and they are glitched to where they can use their own power while holding weapons.
2. The long fight skip against the ironman doombots at stark tower. If you open a portal before going into the lab section, and the portal takes you to the completed (safe) HQ of doom-stark tower :D, allowing you to just skip straight ahead to castle doom.
3. Perhaps my favorite, tricking (certain) boss' ai attack patterns. For certain bosses and mini bosses that don't have abilities that shove you far; make you run away etc. i.e., Loki, Mephisto and Doom, this trick works well. You surround the boss and spam light attacks (standard attacks) with one character. The boss ai is designed to prioritize the player and so will focus in on damaging that character. Before they do attack, or just as they begin, simply switch characters and keep spamming the attack. The boss will spend a second or 2 still attacking the now ai character (who i believe take considerably less dmg than when player controlled) before switch their attention back to the now-switched player character. Although by the time they've started to attack the player, you've already switch to the third character, then the fourth. Rinse and repeat. I've used this exploit on many bosses and its extremely affective on those who have few or none surrounding minion fodders. It can be further enhanced by using the team command function and telling the team to be agressive which should keep them focused on the boss.
I hate that I was too young to appreciate the intricacies of this game at the time.
Exactly why I love to replay older games from my childhood. If u were like me and just mashed cutscenes/dialogue skip + not really fully reading descriptions you’ll realize how much game u actually missed out on as a kid
There is a glitch that makes surfer have the highest dps in the game, his molecular mix up does the damage of your fully charged cosmic beam. Also, deadpool's buff adds damage per hit, so the fullscreen mash powers that venom and surfer have go from being decent crowd control into screenwiper. Surfer has by far the highest damage potential in the game. Oh and mr fantastic can have over 100% crit chance, he also hits hard as hell
Explain how to do the glitch and I'll try to do it on stream.
Fully charge cosmic beam then his molecular mix up will cause the damage of fully charged beam. Really easy to do
I figured this out when I was playing online with my buddy 6 years ago
I’ve done that with mr fantastic a lot with his big fists
Exactly. You just described the strongest team. I also add in Iron Man for his energy cost reduction team buff.
This game literally had the best Deadpool voice to date. John Kassir is criminally underrated.
great video. as a big fan of this game I have a challenge for you.
an MUA nuzlocke.
the challenge: complete the game on hard difficulty with a randomly selected team. If somebody on your team dies for any reason they are dead permanently and must be replaced. the replacement must also be selected randomly. to make the challenge more doable you are permitted to use a cheat code that gets you all characters and costumes immediately.
if you run out of characters before the game is over, you lose the challenge.
additional rules:
1. before the start of every new mission you must randomly select your team.
2. you cannot replace anyone on your team UNTIL THEY ARE DEAD.
I've probably done this by accident before but I'll definitely give it a try👍
Also Hulk's enlarge power is absolutely broken in this game imo. It does an obscene amount of damage and the increased speed makes him kill any normal enemy instantly with a trip followed by ground punches. Also his roll with the power on is so fast that the camera cannot keep up with him.
Also fun fact picking up an object as big Hulk makes that object grow. You can drop it and keep picking it up and it keeps growing lol
So this makes hulk the fastest character in the game?
@@ShiftyGuy777 yeah, with only one or two rolls you can escape from any trouble easily, that buff is probably the best for solo
@@ShiftyGuy777 yeah. Add Hawkeye and Deadpool's buff and i don't know how fast he can potentially be. Maybe Thor can keep up but I haven't tried.
While I absolutely agree with you on Cap being the best all around character in the game,I would argue for Hulk being considered God tier with Wolverine and Deadpool. He can solo easy.
Yes hulk is good especially with the planet hulk outfit
There's at least one more team synergy to include - Dr. Strange, Mr. Fantastic, Elektra, Luke Cage. Strange's Xtreme attack has a chance to turn stunned/frozen/slowed enemies into pips, Mr. Fantastic gives an XP boost, Cage gives a money boost, and Elektra stuns enemies so Strange can pip-ify them. You can repeat this indefinitely on the simulators to farm (and it's pretty fun). Presumably Iceman and possibly others work in place of Elektra but I haven't played this game in a while.
I didn't even consider looking for a farming team.
I was mainly concerned with raw damage output in structuring the tier list but thank you for sharing.
@@LUMOSHROOM Thanks for making the video, I learned a lot!
Holy crap that's genius. This comment section is gold
My team back in the day was Wolverine, Spider-man, Hulk, and Human Torch. Goated game.
Dr strange was my favourite because of his levitation ability. So much fun throwing enemies off edges 🤣. Also his teleportation was fun.
this is like my 6th time watching this, absolute masterpiece of a video
As a Spider-Man fan and an Ultimate Alliance fan, I'm extremely happy you've considered the Webhead a contender for best support character. Spider-Man in the Ultimate Alliance games has always been deceptively useful and skilled at bringing out a team's potential.
Dude is trash 🗑
I was able to solo a lot with him. I think there's an item that give regeneration.I equipped that and used his sling shot, impact webs, I think the web-kick, dome. They were great with range and you could literally spend the game playing pin-head bowling down hallways.
Hulk is easily god tier. His boost makes him ridiculously fast and powerful, and turns his cyclone punch into a boss melter. his grab attack “hulk knock down” takes out any regular enemy in the game- even if they don’t outright die because you don’t have it upgraded they can’t fight back. He’s also great for crowd control, With both his stomp and hulk smash abilities, with each working better than the other depending on the situation. If you’re surrounded hulk smash followed by cyclone punch to kill any stragglers will turn a horde to dust, and if they’re grouped together in front of you especially in a tighter area like a hallway, his stomp is better. All In all, he is easily as good as or better than wolverine.
Thank you for producing content for this game, and for at least attempting to discuss serious play. This video is one of the few sources I've found which do this, and you get several important points right, such as disregarding healing and defense in general and recognizing the importance of Deadpool to most teams.
With that said, I'm disappointed at the shallowness of this list. Doom and Hawkeye aren't even mentioned as team boosters, and both of them are far more effective in that role than Daredevil, who you do discuss as a team booster. Hawkeye is second only to Deadpool in this category as his boost shortens virtually all animations, even Xtremes and other boosts. Doom is a huge help to any team based around a damage dealer whose primary move is a 2HKO on normal enemies, as well as increasing average DPS by nearly as much as Electra. Glitches like the charge damage stick on Black Panther and Nightcrawler aren't discussed when they dramatically alter the playstyles of these characters (I see someone has mentioned the Surfer glitch in the comments at least). Animation differences against bosses like Nick Fury's Furious and Wolverine's Lethal Lunge aren't mentioned, and neither are team combos like the several variations of Dr. Strange's infinite Xtreams. Items are completely ignored, which is probably the most egregious omission since they can fundamentally transform characters, especially with the secondary effect transfer glitch. Just as an example, Human Torch can oneshot crowds from mid range in Asgard simulators with Inferno at level 99 with a glitched Atuma's Wrath. There's hardly a character in the game who doesn't have a power go from a 3HKO to a 2HKO even with an unglitched Asgard Armor. A close second to the disregard of items is your general underuse of team and personal boosts. This particularly stands out on Mr. Fantastic, whose personal boost guarantees him critical hits on every attack, including his Xtreme, and turns his Rubberband Recoil into an easy OHKO with any +50% power damage item, such as Asgard Armor. Blade (attack and movement speed) and Human Torch (all power damage, not just melee damage as it says) are two more whose vital personal boosts you ignored.
Trying to simultaneously rank characters for solo and team play is also holding this list back from coherence, as some characters simply require various sorts of team boosts, as you allude to with Iron Man's Energy Reroute (although this one in particular can be outgrown by blitzing through the game for Focus upgrades) and others can make themselves invulnerable or functionally invulnerable and thus slowly push through virtually anything solo. An example of a character transformed by team boosts is Venom, whose Symbiote Flail goes from distinctly mediocre to the third-best crowd control move in the game when supported by Deadpool and Dr. Doom. A related issue is your focus on the breadth and viability of secondary options instead of merely peak effectiveness, which isn't how competitive tier lists work. The fact that Thor can also run a hammer costume doesn't move his elemental build up a tier.
I do hope that you'll create more content for this game, and revisit this tier list in more depth. I'll be following your work with interest.
Finally I found something referencing the item effects glitch. How does this work? Can you proc it on purpose or is it random?
@@2midgetsinanovercoat638 Single-effect items can be glitched to have secondary effects of two-effect items. Equip double-effect item in extraction point, leave, equip single-effect item in extraction point, leave, die, reload from checkpoint.
@@LSofACO thanks a lot, this has made so many options open up. One more thing though, what is this "charge damage stick" on nightcrawler and black panther you mentioned?
@@2midgetsinanovercoat638 Some, but not all, moves that can be charged will deal the highest damage they have dealt at any charge level since the last loading screen, so you can spam the uncharged version for charged damage after doing one charged version.
Finally I found a man of culture! ✨
There is a glitch which can make any enemy your ally without them turning back into an enemy, basically you need dr strange and invisible woman now invisible woman first needs to incapsulate the enemy(s) then dr strange uses his mind wipe ability and vuala you have an enemy on your side for ever c: I really do hope you make a video on this because no one knows about this! It's a glorious glitch and had lost of fun fighting bosses with an army! I also remember a glitch on how to get default man! I hope you do make it c: (I made a video of it!)
Oh wow, I think I will try it out. Although I found a glitch as well (I don't know if you found it). This glitch gives you the ability to grab bosses. In the fight with Enchantress and her bodygaurd, kill Enchantress as many times you like, how do you this? Well after killing Enchantress go to the nearest save spot and change team (you don't have to change team) and exit out, Enchantress will later respawn, this seems to work best with custom teams (like I did with Ghost Rider, Venom, Hawkeye and Luke Cage). To make it easy use a pop up to kill her instantly at the bridge, this also carries to different save files, although it takes some time to do it. But this makes boosts and debuffs useless now (enemies are affected too), so characters like Hawkeye are now mediocre or bad, so pick a trade off. Any feedback is nice.
P.S don't knock the Executioner off the bridge while he's invincible, the game will crash.
@@ShiftyGuy777 I made a video about it
@@ShiftyGuy777 ok ty for this so basically now I can turn them into allies aswell if I could grab them then invisible woman's bubble ability must work and maybe Dr strange's too! Ground breaking
this sounds spicy!
I legit came to this video with the intention of finding the fastest hero for my trophy hunting speed runs so thanks for that end section. Great vid :)
Me too?
Fastest? Depends on who you're playing; Thing, Hulk, and Colossus have a dash, and if you use "Spiders bite" that gives you 20% attack and run speed. If you use Spiderman with Spider bite, his zip line is faster as you travel, Same with Venom.
@@PeterSTIHL Or you could watch the video and see that Mr Fantastic is actually the answer :)
Always loved playing Ghost Rider in MUA. Ravaging Flame, Vengeance and his fire damage boost from Starbolt’s Flame were nuts. Also really lucky that Vengeance heals your allies.
Great breakdown; no arguments with any of the placements, outside of Torch (I feel he could move up a tier). My main team was Thor, Iceman, Torch, Hawkeye.
this video is awesome, great work! this game holds a special place in my heart, i was playing it when i was 5 years old the year it came out, glad to see people still talking about it
I feel Cyclops should be A tier with his ultimate and rapid fire optic blast alone. And Cyke is very underrated as far as melee goes.
Tbh, I usually play ghost rider with the classic costume(black with spikes) max hellfire damage, starbolts flame (5 fire damage to melee and 35% to all fire damage powers) and max out ghost riders ravaging flame projectile along with chain flechette for stun. I'm happy that someone actually took the time to make a tier last. Hats off to you dude
Good list!
Although it made me realize there is more to Ultimate Alliance and I been playing it wrong all my life, as some of the stat distribution I gave my characters was off.
There's no wrong way to play Ultimate Alliance.
I just wanted to bring some attention to the relative amount of depth it has as I really love the game.

This is a great video. I appreciate tier lists for non-fighting games, especially for RPGs like this. Keep up the great content. I guess you could say this video was..... Amazing.
Thank you for this quality video. I only just started playing Midnight Suns and it reminded me of why I love Marvel games so much, where it started was this very game. Feel like playing it and 2 again.
I still have a lot to learn about this game but thank you very much for making this video! Been playing this game for many years but have never played it without cheats until now.
I love how my favorite MCU movie are the best characters in this game
MUA1 is superior to 2 & 3. MUA2 has a bland roster, no minigames and limited costume selection. MUA3 has palette swap costumes, a terrible art direction, desolate stage layouts, no minigames and plays like a phone game. Overall, I love this review. Gj!

Absolutely nobody is saying what you’re saying at the beginning. This is one of the most beloved superhero games of all time.
Certain costumes like ultimate iron man’s suit increase healing. My team was 1 person with super strength, 1 flyer, 1 ranged character, and a wolverine/deadpool or blade. And then choose costumes that increase healing or energy regent
In coop a friend and I discovered Nick Fury's sniper power is crazy good when one player stuns enemies for Fury. The power fully upgraded has a 50% chance of instant KO I believe when the enemy is stunned
Furious is also a hidden gem.
Yeah SMG sucks for damage but using him for furious and sniper shot with his cloak makes him pretty fun
Furious does great damage and hits a group as well the slam part damages anyone nearby.
20:50 Shawn Michaels right before he does Sweet Chin Music
Electra is very underwhelming but what I do is use her as a ultimate spammer, upgrade her assassin outfit momentum, and upgrade team momentum bonuses and give her executioners axe and go to town
I remember playing both Ultimate Alliance games and I was so hooked as a kid because playing as some of my favorite heroes and learning about new ones was amazing, I didn’t even know that the playstation has Ultimate Alliance but now I’m getting it for the nostalgia and how fun it was
Too bad they aren't available anymore because of licensing issues.
Dope video, loved this game as a kid and this brings back so many memories. Great comment section too!
This game was so freaking sweet! I spent more time with this game than most people. I'm sure of it. Although I didn't do a ton of testing like you. I just used my favorite heroes that also had attacks I liked. One of my main teams consisted of Ghost Rider, Moonknight, Iceman and Captain America. I absolutely loved Ghost Rider and usually gave him most of the upgrades lol. I knew that wasn't the best strategy, but I favored that character so much that I didn't care lol. Him and Moonknight because of his attack that chops up enemies with his nunchuks. I also gave some to Cap though and a few focus ones to Iceman. I also liked Luke Cage alot, Cyclops, Wolverine and I started liking Elektra alot too. I've never been a fan of Mr Fantastic so I almost never used him after trying him out when i first started playing. I didn't really like Deadpool either for some reason. Maybe i didn't give him enough of a chance though idk. Didn't use Invisible Woman or the Human Torch much either lol. Not a huge Fantastic 4 fan if you can't tell lol. I liked Ms. Marvel, but i could never stick with her because i didn't feel like she was very good. So I'd always ditch her lol. I would sometimes throw Cyclops or Thor into my teams as well. I do remember unlocking all the costumes for every character though and maxing out the ones I liked the most. So i had to have played a bit with each character. That level you were playing a bunch throughout this video was where it was at though. I used that place to power level my characters and unlock costumes since you could keep letting them respawn to continue getting kills and level up like crazy.
Seems like most of my favorite heroes to use were in your B-Tier, but oh well. I liked them and was able to kick butt with them. So that's what matters.
P.S. I always thought X-Men Legends 2 was better than Ultimate Alliance. It had more options to choose from as far as powers go. Each character had a few more abilities than what you could even use. So you had to pick your favorites and make a build out of them. I think the itemization in the game was better too. They're really pretty close though because they're very similar games. X-Men Legends 2 just stands out as being a deeper experience for me.
Thanks for this cool video about one of my favorite games of all time!
The murder world level was incredibly fun
Only thing I hate about this game is that it's no longer available for purchase for Xbox One & Playstation 4 😭
First off, this is a pretty well made tier list since I remember having the Gold Edition on XBOX 360 before the console died on me. Wonder if I should buy a second hand one?
That being said, I do admit there's a few flaws (constructively speaking):
Excluding gear especially ones gained from boss fights is a bit odd since there are boss gear items that can aid certain characters like Starbolt's Flame can work well with Ghost Rider and Human Torch since they deal fire damage and Asgard Armor is glitched to apply for all damage types. Plus Spider's Bite's speed boost can help any and all tank characters since as the archetype goes they can be slower compared to other characters. Also there's a glitch that lets you combine two gear bonuses for a character. Video is up on UA-cam.
You did rule out a few boosts like the ones that slow down enemies for a time which I always used to gain the upper hand. Daredevil, Spidey and Ms Marvel have these boosts. Iceman's Frigid Aura works well in his simulator mission and in Mephisto's Realm since any demon crawlers that jump onto him will instantly die.
Also I noticed you left out a few status effects in certain extremes like Strange's turning foes into pips if stunned and frozen, Spider Woman's converting enemies to allies for a brief time like in XML2 (though the aim is kinda shoddy imo), Luke's can turn stunned enemies into credit drops and Thing's has a chance of slowing enemy movement.
Finally, I feel like you could've had list of powers for each character since Ms Marvel's Prism is great against non-energy-resistant foes and Polar Explosion works well in bosses and in large groups since power viability is very subjective from person to person. Maybe a spreadsheet perhaps?
But regardless of my nitpicks, you did a good job, Lumo.
Just mod the 2006 PC Port, can also mod in X Men Legends characters, and other console exclusive characters.
You can get a 2006 PC copy from Internet Archive 😅
@@NotRott009 Way ahead of you there

Remastered version looks BEAUTIFUL
I got this recently on gold edition (xbox360) and I’m having a blast playing this
Fun fact there's a glitch in ultimate alliance 1 where you can turn any enemy into your ally you'll need 2 ppl invisible woman and Dr strange first invisible woman needs to incapsulate the enemy with the bubble attack power then Dr needs to use the mind wipe and presto now you can buff your new enemy ally and if the enemy had a buff it gets added to your team I even made a video about it also there's a hidden character in the game known as defaultman aswell which not slot people know about!
defaultman sounds hilarious lol, how would you unlock it?
I think Sabertooth's Talon Frenzy being on main edges out Wolvie in S tier.
Once that is maxed it just gets ridiculous, even before buffs.
Also, shoutout to Storm's Lightning Strike. She can nuke hard bosses in a few hits when her crits get off.
I am really surprised to.see Doom outside of A tier. To me he seemed like he was broken because he had no weakness. I was however playing on normal while giving him all of the stat buffs. I feel like Moonknight has by far the strongest damage potential and so does his ultimate.
Doom is just mediocre. Mediocre damage, bad at tanking, weak CC, no team buff.
@@LegsON Reading my comment back I guess my perspective was off due to playing on normal difficulty while feeding every upgrade to him making him unkillable.
My goto team as a kid was Deadpool, Ghost Rider, Blade and Spiderman just because they were cool
im a little late to this video but I love ultimate alliance. I just got ultimate alliance three for the switch. I would love to see a tier list for the second and third games as well!
Yeeeah yep?
As a kid I played this game for 7 days straight. Vomited blood. Passed out. Woke up 3 days later, in a different house.
Don't know if its important, its an old video. I found best in slot hero for all time. Human torch. His "inferno" ability is best there is for dealing damage. Use also on him his first fire aura, its also increases inferno's damage. With the right team, you can deal like 1000+ dmg in one hit. Two hits in 1 second actually. Daredevil, thor, Deadpool and human torch himself. Just use auras on other three characters. Try it, its very fun to play. Basically will instantly kill any mobs, except those big ones, like super soldiers. When thor's aura is not needed anymore, change him for whoever you like.
Man just broke my heart a lil bit. Colossus was my go to favorite.
The main go to team I run each time are Wolverine, Hulk, Ghost Rider and Venom. The team is pretty busted so I was kinda surprised Ghost rider and Venom were so low. The team is very recommended.
My team back in the day were called the Cosmic Avengers and consisted of:
Ms Marvel with the Binary skin for more energy focused attacks
Silver Surfer with his healing abilities
Dr Strange with his crowd control
And Thor with the Beta Ray Bill skin for physical attacks and Resistances
Additional members were:
Iron Spider Man for speed
Iron Man Ultimate Armor for energy boosts
Human torch has always been my go to with his energy regent and maybe iron mans buff you can spam inferno till a room is clear. Playing a campaign without him is a drag.
Imagine if Larian did a turn-based version of this game, make it a god honest RPG. I would buy it instantly. Great video!
Imagine offering a turn-based game to action fans...
Larian should do a Sci-Fi RPG, not this. And there's actually a big chance they will.
Something I've realized is that people have massively different opinions probably based on their personal playstyles, I've checked out your list, a written character guide and another channel's character reviews and they're all so different lol.
Anyway just people talking about this game is good for me, I love it and thank all of it's fans for their passion.
PlayStation 2 hit different fr at the time playing this in 06/07
spider woman’s bio blast is the most powerful ranged power in the game doing 700+ DMG if upgraded fully
I feel like blades bomb throw is actually really good
My ultimate alliance squad was always Wolverine Blade,Deadpool and Human torch🔥🔥
This comment section feels like a little brotherhood of people who really love this game, I love you all.
For speedruning, I've found out that if you use Dr. Strange's teleport, you can skip the section where you have to open the doors for the skrull queen's ship.
Honestly, coming back to this after learning what I have, I think you would love the marvel mods community if you aren't already a member.
I was honestly shocked when I found out, not only do mods for this game exist, they're capable of almost completely changing every aspect of the game.
The marvel mods community is a forum of die hard and talented Ultimate Alliance fans which have brought the original 2006 PC release of Ultimate Alliance and brought it to a level that's beyond the wildest imagination, the work they do to the original game (which is free to download as it's basically classified as abandonware) puts the 2016 remaster to shame, with there being mods that add not just cosmetics like new skins to the game, but full on experience altering or enhancing overhauls such as expanding the maximum roster of the game to hold 50 unique characters, mods which restore lost and scrapped content from the game's development, the ability to play as characters who were originally platform and DLC exclusives all on one version of the game, combining them into the ultimate roster, plus adding in characters from the X-Men Legends series which was the basis of Ultimate Alliance-
And that's all just the recommended basic mods which are meant to enhance and expand on the original game, that's not even mentioning the mods that add things like 50+ playable DC comics characters, which can also be modded even further to have unique dialogue scenes and actually change the flow of the original game's story-
(Look up Zatanna saves Nightcrawler and Jean Grey if you wanna see how detailed some of these mods get.)
I was gonna have a fit if I didn't see deadpool and wolverine in S-tier 😂 straight up GODLY
Great video! Have you ever considered trying a nuzlocke/iron man run of the game on hard? Where deaths for characters would be permanent. Since MUA is a pretty simple game, the permadeath challenge can really add to the intensity/strategy of the game.
Do I wanna use Wolverine right from the get-go and risk losing him for the rest of the game, or save him for the final levels? Should I use the garbage characters first to get them out of the way? Should I do teams of 2-3 instead of 4 to minimize the amount of people in danger/chance of a character getting KO'd by dumb AI?
Personally I love playing the game this way. It'd be interesting to see your take/know if you've tried it.
dang, thanks for the idea. i might try to make a video on that someday :D.
So game over if iron man dies?
Also be prepared for some dumb deaths in mephisto's realm and bifrost bridge.
Fun fact that gamemode exist in the PSP version, the PSP version is exactly like the ps2 version but with more stuff added like survival simulator discs where enemies spawn indefinitely, also it's called Uber hero mode where you can only pick 4 heroes for the entire story and if they die they die permanently!
Great breakdown. It’s a real shame, this series had alot of potential.
The best ultimate alliance
Tier list starts at 10:15
I used to play this on my ps2 in 2006 sadly I lost my ps2 so I started replaying it on a PSP emulator known as ppsspp and made my own team called THE GOLDEN ORDER, the first four that I picked was ice man, human torch, Thor, and Deadpool then I also added dr strange to the team! The first character I maxed out was Iceman, before watching this video!
Interesting... I think Spider-Woman's been one of my best party members to have on the team. Her venom blast always comes in handy against enemies because of how much damage it does, and metabolic aura helps me a lot when playing on higher difficulties.
Me and my friend played this together and I ALWAYS used Spider-Man (Venom Suit) & Ice Man (Classic Suit) and I felt they were absolutely broken!
Doom’s Eye Beams are OP if you max them out.
For some reason, im still waiting for this dude to do MUA 2 tier list.
Not gonna happen anytime soon. But stick around, there's something big coming.
I always ran spidey all the time because, with the right items, web shield made you untouchable and web yank would clear waves of enemies with no energy cost and do massive damage to bosses
Ik this is pretty old but personally I found Cyclops to be much better than Deadpool despite his awful extreme because of how ridiculous Ricochet Blast is, bouncing off the walls, piercing through and striking enemies multiple times. My personal god squad ended up being Iron Man, Electra, Cyclops and either Luke Cage or Spider Woman for their taunt enemies buffs to keep aggro off Cyclops spamming Ricochet Blast.
This is great list and it honestly brings a tear to my that there are people who love this game too.
I'm gonna recommend a challenge to you, good sir. Beat the game on hard, starting with level 1 characters, you can add in permadeath if you want. I played a bit of it and holy good god was the beginning section just f ing torture.
You can start hard with level 1s by; starting a new game on easy or normal. Getting to the first shield point. Saving. Quiting. Start a new game on hard and select use saved data. Just select the file you just made and bam.
I tried this once, I can't get past the first board... Lol
Spiderman my go to. Web Shield makes him avoid most damage entirely and Web Warrior pretty sure is single most damaging power in the game with the cheapest energy cost. It wrecks bosses and anyone else. Then roll in grab orbs roll out repeat.
Absolutely love this game. It's a shame folks on console can't buy it anymore
hmm... There is a strategy I'm familar with...
Deadpool with weapon x costume due to healing factor upgrade
Deathbird's feathers for 5% extra healing factor
give Deadpool body, strike and focus upgrades exclusively and Blade Spin equipped for powers
Max out the costume
And thus you have An unstoppable heavy healing spinning merc with Tank like stats
...or if you have the psp version, cheese 85% of boss fights with Ronin's Spine Teaser attack.
I’d say you made a pretty good tier list for this game. I may not agree with all your placements of the cast but I can respect your opinions towards them. Elektra I can definitely agree is underwhelming on her own, as her attack power set is honestly not good compared to others. Solo wise, Focused Chi does make her somewhat better on her own. As a team player I can definitely agree she works wonders with her team boost and Xtreme.
Honestly, i’ve been using her a bunch on my hard playthrough, and the only thing I can say is that she’s useful for her buffs and Xtreme. Her powers don’t really hit hard, so i’ve been trying to grab Striking upgrades with her whenever I could. I’ve been running with her Stealth costume, and I gave her imperial mantle. I maxed out her costume and with the Imperial Mantle, it doesn’t really improve her and aside from those she isn’t that great of a character.
