      @@miscbits6399 At this time, we still need to train drone operators aka pilots to fly/sail/drive the silly things, however that training time is a lot shorter then training full on pilots, especially when using suicide attack drones on a one way trip.
      However, one has to wonder how much longer will the human element be required in full time drone operations given the rapid advancement in AI and automation.
      I doubt it will be long until the only human intervention in a drone kill chain will just punching in some basic commands, coordinates and then the go button.
      Once launched, they would operate on their own without human direction, making their own decisions and course of actions.
      Sort of like what we currently are doing with various missle systems really but with a lot more leeway for independent action.

      Given that such planes are easily targeted with long rang hyper or near hyper sonic anti-aircraft missiles, they would be the first to go in the event of a conflict.
      In order to not to be knocked down, they would have to turn off their emitters and sensors, thus rendering them useless and redundent.
      Doesn't really matter who's side you are on in a conflict, the first thing you want to knock out are the eyes and ears of your opponent, along with their ability to coordinate their command and control. So you go after their electronic systems be they for communications or detection.
      Nothing really new there actually. When the Kriegsmarine figured out that the Aliies had equipped their anti-submarine aircraft with radar to detect surfaced U-boats, they equipped said U-boats with radar detector to alert them when an Allied aircraft was coming at them.
      It's pretty much the same today, only that today you fire off an anti-air/radiation missile to track back that incoming radar signal to its source and take it out. AKA the Wild Weasle thing.

    • @EthanX1ao
      @EthanX1ao 4 місяці тому

      @@gumpyoldbugger6944 Turning off sensors doesn't help large drones avoid getting shot down, they are simply too obvious on radars. In other words, they are meant to be shot down, their value is to transmit the very last data before the war is on, like the Tu-16R following the US carrier fleet during the Cold War, but cheaper and do not cost human lives

The surveillance of the US aircraft carriers is near 100%. In the age of hypersonic missiles, any carriers are sitting ducks. Carries have excellent but limited defense capabilities, but offense slightly has the edge. Can a carrier survive a swamp of 1000 thousand decoyed drones, jets, and 100 hypersonic miles at 1/30 of the cost of a carrier? There is practically no technological gap. Thi Chinese drine might be compared to the US MQ-4 but appears to more closely resemble the MQ-9 in design. The supported swept wing is an odd choice for a reconnaissance aircraft because it trades lift for speed which is normally undesirable.
    Also, the RQ-4 has an ummensely larger engine shtoud which could house a larger engine or do more thermal obfuscation. The chinese drone uses a much older turboprop design and be far more detectable than American drones.
    Before considering things like special materials, construction and EW systems, IMO this Chinese drine likely is using very ancient technology as a base starting point

    • @douginorlando6260
      @douginorlando6260 5 місяців тому +7

      The supported swept wing is structurally more rigid than a traditional straight wing. This translates to either a wider wing span or a lighter wing. It’s a good design approach and will lead to a much wider wing span in the future. Wider wing span will improve lift, especially in thin air at a reduced airspeed. Reduced airspeed will improve drag and allow improved engine thrust per horsepower expended.
      A future design will likely fly higher, slower, longer, farther. At 10 miles altitude, the line of sight to the horizon is 283 miles. This increases substantially at higher altitudes. A more powerful radar with a larger antenna will likely be included to monitor surface ships hundreds of miles away.

      Of course, there are dragons in the ancient culture of China. It's just that Chinese dragons are different from Western dragons. Chinese dragons have no wings, while Western dragons are dinosaurs. Western dragons are dinosaurs. The Chinese dragon symbolizes auspiciousness and respect, while the Western dragon symbolizes darkness and evil.

    • @月隐谷
      @月隐谷 5 місяців тому

      @@Wvk5zc Of course, this plane is named after the Chinese dragon. The Chinese dragon does not exist in the real world at all. Unlike the Western dragon, it is actually a dinosaur, so it is named after the Chinese dragon. But the Chinese dragon has no wings, while the plane has wings, so it is called a pterosaur. The name of this plane means a dragon with wings.

    • @tvgerbil1984
      @tvgerbil1984 4 місяці тому

      It is hard to prove that they were totally different creatures scientifically. Nobody has ever found the genes of a loong to compare with the genes of a dragon yet. The word dragon in Latin was draco which meant "huge serpent". Maybe modern Western culture has already misrepresented dragons as dinosaur-like creatures.
