I'm doing just the opposite with both of ours...I am putting chrome grills and getting rid of the color match. You can get a new chrome grill for around $45 on ebay.
My door is XD I haven't painted it yet...mine is a 4 door, black and silver...my wife's is a 2 door extended...dark green and gold....as soon as I finish painting the underside of the bumper...I put a roll pan and chrome bumper topper on hers and still need to put the side boards on it.
Would it not have been a good idea to have put a couple of pieces of wood underneath it and put something heavy on top of it to hold it nice and still while you stick the bits on it looked to me that you are making hard work of a simple job apart from that you are doing a good job I must add perhaps being old I prefer the chrome look but if you cannot find one you just have to use what you can get.
Hey Martin put up another video! I have sort of a suggestion. I've been involved with (specifically, 1988-1989) Dakotas for almost 30 years now, so for many years I would use Forums to get specific odd-ball details on the trucks... To the point now, I'm probably the #1 expert on those specific trucks lol. That being said, I have finally acquired a new(er) 2005 Dakota, with the 4.7L v8, so referencing these videos is a great help ( as well as the reason why I decided to buy the truck in the first place ) Anywho, I'm no expert on these 4.7 vehicles so I thought it would be cool to have a website to go along with this youtube channel, www . Martinbuilt . com with forums and probably links to the videos going along with whatever subject. Because sometimes its easier for people to open up a text document ( forum ) on their phone and have the instructions in writing as they do it especially with torque values and such. I've pretty much memorized all the torque specs of the 88-89 trucks at this point lol. Anyway just a suggestion, as always thank you Martin for the videos. I'm a professionally trained auto collision tech, if you ever have any autobody questions ( @gittyupalice96)
Looks much better with the colour match grill!
Good work.
I think so too!
I’m glad to see you got a Dakota I think you would like it. I fixed my Dakota watching you fix the jeep. Thank you!.

Hello, I have a Chrysler Voyager 3.3 le vehicle model AWD 1995, but I am missing parts, can you help me?
Great DIY!
Thank you David 😊
Hey Martin. Does that JB quick weld work better than if you perhaps plastic welded those bolts into place?
yes the way I used it in the video, the JB weld would be stronger.
Great video-I hit a deer last night.
thanks, that sucks about the dear. My sister has hit like 5 or 6
Nice vid Martin
Thank you

Usually those upper bolts will back out of the grille instead of like they are supposed to...or they will strip or break out...
Yeah, I noticed that when I was looking for the grille at Pic-a-Part
@@martinbuilt I ended up just buying a new one for my 2500...everything in the junk yard was cracked, delaminating, or the tabs had broken off
@@Kolonol1 yep that seems to be a common thing with them

It's a Chrysler Product you should expect no less.
