They REALLY were. And from a female’s perspective, they were absolutely gorgeous. Ronnie’s swagger and vocals are superb, and the musicianship, flawless.
Skynyrd at the absolute peak .. there wasn't a band on the planet that wanted to follow them .. Rest in Paradise .. Ronnie, Allen, Billy, Leon, Steve, and Gary ..The greatest band in history
They certainly gave you your money's worth, that's for sure. This is the one song that they played when Steve Gaines auditioned for them at a concert in Kansas City in 1976 as sister and backup singer Cassie Gaines begged them to give her brother a chance. They did, and the rest is history.
Skynyrd was the greatest live band there ever was in my opinion, I'm from Jacksonville, and have seen many times the tree that inspired that smell,it still is scared after all these years from Gary Rossington s car,I remember the early '70s when they were just getting well known,my older cousin went to school with Gary Rossington and was pretty good friends so I got to visit with him a few times, but never after the Who tour, they just got way to busy to have lived outside of the music business,RIP to Gary and all the fellas
They played Knebworth England; the Stones being the last group to play the festival. There was a large red TONGUE extension from the stage (from the Stones lips/tongue symbol). The other bands had 'strict orders' NOT TO GO onto the tongue; for the Stones only. Playing FREEBIRD Ronnie led the band out onto the tongue; they STOMPED on those fat lips while finishing the song; the crowd went wild. (Jagger was pissed they did so). What a great SOUTHERN 'Up Yours!' to those english 'prim & propers' crowd!!
Thanks guys. Awesome gig this one ! As a 62 years old Aussie, I totally dig Lynrd Skynrd since the early 70s. This was a great clip and not a single cellphone in sight, just lots of folks enjoying the music and getting into the moment. Keep em coming guys. Rocky and Kaz 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎸
YOU CALLED OUT THE BASS! Leon wilkeson was a monster it really shows on this. Because you have to remember often times they played for a long time. And Leon was like a machine. He was so cool and he could just go and go gentle or hard. This is a great example of a very long live song typically for them where he is just machine-gunning it the whole way and just it's amazing.
Skynyrd blew The Stones off the stage. They only performed this song live, it is not on any studio records. One of my favorite songs by them, what they do to a song that was written 50 years earlier is amazing.
This is the day that Lynyrd Skynyrd walked onto the stage, punched The Rolling Stones in their face, stole their lunch money and ate it in front of them and there wasn’t a damn thing they could do about it either. I love it!
Leon Wilkerson is one seriously underated bass players of the 70s RIP Skynyrd there all gone now, but we'll always have their music😂. The stones were FURIOUS about walking on the sacred tounge but Mick was beside himself when during his performance people were yelling for SKYNYRD to come back onstage instead.🤣😜🤣😜🤣😜🤣💃🤠🤯. I only got to see them 16 times, wish it was EVERYDAY a concert‼️😜😵💫😵💫🤯
Billy Powell was a roadie for Lynyrd Skynyrd none of the band knew he was a classical trained pianist one day while setting up there happened to be a piano on stage and Billy told Ronnie here's how I'd play Freebird and started playing. Ronnie immediately fired Billy as a roadie and hired him to be in the band. Good decision on his part I'd say ✌🤘♥️
This is from the reengineered Knebworth the crowds noise was added it is not from the concert LS was not very well known in the UK at that time But after this set they became famous there
Grateful that I saw LS in my hometown of Detroit in the summer of 1977....I was 20 yo...still very memorable. Happy your discovering a great American band.
They were opening for the stones. And we're kind of kicking their ass in previous performances. They were specifically told not to play a second, long majestic kick ass song...yup, this one. And NOT GO OUT ON THAT TOUNGE!! Go figure, this was their last show on that tour!
This was Steve gains 9th performance with the band in aa couple of months he went from playing at the Holiday inn to Knebworth 76 crowds estimate 150,000 to 250,000
Needed some Skynyrd today, thanks you two!😍 Just in case you missed it, The Warning has been releasing pro-shot videos of their sold out Teatro Metropolitan concert(s) from last August. You should really check them out as the audio and video are top notch. They just released 'Revenant' and a few more just a few days ago! I know you reacted to the Revenant lyric video a while back, but the live performance will rip your soul out!😲🥰🎵🎶 Please check it out!
Yes you are so right, they took a song that probably 99% had never heard before and boiled them alive with it. I especially loved the one kid sing lyrics that were wrong but didn’t give a crap. He was feeling it.
The crowd was about 250000 , there were 4 or 5 bands. 10 cc, stones , skynnyrd, creedence clearwater, and a couple of more. This concert was in england 1976 at knebwirth fair. The Stones were not very happy because skynnyrd blew them away.
This is an amazing cover of this song... One of my favorite Skynyrd songs... The energy on that stage that day must have been fantastic... There's no way you can sit still while you're listening to this song
Originally a song by Jimmy Rodgers from 1927. Also known as Blue Yodel No.1. Hard to believe no one has mentioned where this came from. That’s who influenced bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd. Please React to Jimmy Rodgers - “Waiting On A Train” 1929
Hey Wolfhunters.... I jist found you guys and see y'all are digging in to some Skynyrd. If you guys are needing some down home southern feel... A must try listen to sample is "Call Me The Breeze" Studio album version from the pronounced album. An old blues song they put a spin on from about the same time as T4 Texas/Tenn... Quintessential southern rock band that could play most musical genres during the 70's time period. Give this song out of their repertoire a sample. Turn it up and enjoy!
I just bought this entire LS concert yesterday. They only used the tongue for the Free Bird solo. Mick probably would have kicked them out if they had used it earlier! lol!
I was very young there's a lot of my girl friends were a ALSO but with some good group of men older than us and I got to see the last Lynyrd Skynyrd concert in Greenville South Carolina it was a fantastic concert is the best I've ever seen but the girls were jailbait as we call it down south meaning underage then again you may already know what jailbait means under age😊 I'm so glad Artemis Pyle is still alive❤ Thank you for putting this out there again
This was always the song I listened to in order to get fired up when I raced motorcycles and it gave me rhythm I could take to the starting line. It always worked
I dont ever watch these reaction videos but I will for Lynyrd Skynyrd. As a producer i find some of them amusing but many FAKE..,,,,,, But ive got to say, I love the two of you and find you two genuine out of all the fake ass reactions online,,,,I love when someone actually gets into it like as if no one's watching and rocks out,,, otherwise what's the point of being a true reaction you might as well stay home and go golfing,,,, please keep it up! I don't know your names but if I did I would give you a shout out to each of you. Not sure when you check these comments you're probably move to China by now making way more money but that bass that you love that is so amazing is none other than Leon Wilkinson! And combined with Artimus Pyle on drums it is killer. And needless to say the only person left alive from this stage is Artimus Pyle the drummer every other member is now dead sadly Gary rossington the guy who played the amazing beautiful slide guitar in Freebird just recently died last March in 2023 the last original member
They were my favorite band in the 1970s and me and some buddies were going to go see them play, I think in Kalamazoo in late October, and then the tragic play crash. One of the saddest days of my life. I had planned to make a motorcycle pilgramage to the their memorial close to the crash site outside of Gillsburg, MS. I live in SW, OH. Then a new account sent me down to a Denham Springs, LA in early Sept. The crash memorial is only 8 miles east of exit 8 on Hwy 8 very southern Mississippi, so I took advantage of the opportunity on the way back. The memorial is very well done and humbling and would I recommend to any Lynyrd Skynyrd fan.
The 1977 performance was to me their best ! Steve had been with them a longer time and they were getting better ! They always kicked ass but 77 they were kicking everyone’s ass !!!
Ronnie said make it rain because there was a rare heat wave taking place at the time of this concert. The English are best adapted to rainy chill with overcast skies---the usual conditions of this island nation in the far northwest of Europe.
There is a song called cottonmouth country on UA-cam Lynyrd Skynyrd sings and it is so good it would have been perfect for the album Nothing Fancy ❤ love the myth Lynyrd Skynyrd the drummer Artimus Py le is still alive from the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band band I think you'll like the song and thanks for blessing some of that good old homegrown southern style music 🎵 ❤ Also from the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band check out the song Michelle thank y'all yes I'm a southern deep South ❤ Thank again And yes I subscribed
Devo, Mongoloid é um clássico eterno, é a linha que costura o filme Ex Drummer, assiste aí e vê se vale o tempo... Eu sei que quando você ver o trailer do filme e o vídeo da música vai ter dor de barriga kkkk
Trying to keep myself remembering: That ocean of people were not necessarily there to see Skynyrd. They were there to see The Stones yet Skynyrd evoked this kind of reaction.
This is just another example of America's great pushback against the British Invasion the British Invasion couldn't withstand the American Revolution and once again the South is the spear point if you want another great instrumental southern rock band from Florida check out The Outlaws I saw them play with Skynyrd in Orlando in the mid 70s it was awesome
I know you guys are young, but you have no idea how huge Lynyrd Skynyrd was. They are among the greatest bands ever.
They REALLY were. And from a female’s perspective, they were absolutely gorgeous. Ronnie’s swagger and vocals are superb, and the musicianship, flawless.
💯
As the lead singer producer for decades can anyone answer did Skynyrd open for the Rolling Stones or Peter Frampton in 76'/77'. BE MY GUEST
@@natev1956 The Oakland show was Frampton. The British show was the Stones.
@@natev1956 they opened for the Stones in ‘76 and Frampton in ‘77.
Skynyrd at the absolute peak .. there wasn't a band on the planet that wanted to follow them .. Rest in Paradise .. Ronnie, Allen, Billy, Leon, Steve, and Gary ..The greatest band in history
Absolutely sir. There will never be any kind of music even close to what this bunch created. Ever.
Leon Willkeson was the bass player laying down that groove. When Leon tosses his cigarette- you know shit is about to get serious !
Damn them boys can play👏💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
They certainly gave you your money's worth, that's for sure. This is the one song that they played when Steve Gaines auditioned for them at a concert in Kansas City in 1976 as sister and backup singer Cassie Gaines begged them to give her brother a chance. They did, and the rest is history.
Sitting here stomping my foot with tears in my eyes. Miss the boys
LYNYRD SKYNYRD
WAS the Best of the Best !!! RIP Brothers & Sisters 🙏 y'all done well !!! 🤙🇺🇸🏴☠️
Greatest group of musicians ever!!
My favorite Skynyrd song live!

I had the pleasure of working for LS on this show...sound guy. It was relentless rock !! Salute !
They simply were the best. Period.
They were so damn good, 65 yo and loved them since the early 70's Seen them live 4 times and they always kicked ass!
They played Knebworth England; the Stones being the last group to play the festival. There was a large red TONGUE extension from the stage (from the Stones lips/tongue symbol). His growl begins mca and his backup singing underrated
Skynyrd blew The Stones off the stage. They only performed this song live, it is not on any studio records. One of my favorite songs by them, what they do to a song that was written 50 years earlier is amazing.
To think it about 100 years old now. Great song Jimmy Rogers.
Love them southern boys!🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥
Everybody loves Lynyrd Skynyrd thanks for sharing
That's some ole southern rock flavor right there 😂. Down home cookin.
Skynyrd was a phenomenal band
they blew the stones off the stage at this concert!!!!!!
My favourite Lynyrd song they played live. One of the best live bands of all time!
Yeah and played liive ALOT
Yes the y have been my favorite band for the last 45 years or more 🎉❤ go Skynyrd.
ronnie was smiling at steve gaines thinking to himself, how smart he was to bring this guy into the band.
Indeed. Although it took a lot of coaxing by Steve's sister Cassie Gains one of the honkettes.
This is the day that Lynyrd Skynyrd walked onto the stage, punched The Rolling Stones in their face, stole their lunch money and ate it in front of them and there wasn’t a damn thing they could do about it either. I love it!
Probably one of the most under appreciated songs the band has done. That was outstanding to say the least.

To his brothers Donnie and Johnny Van Zant are a FANTASTIC BAND well ❤❤❤ music sure ran in that family 👍🏽❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Billy Powell was a roadie for Lynyrd Skynyrd none of the band knew he was a classical trained pianist one day while setting up there happened to be a piano on stage and Billy told Ronnie here's how I'd play Freebird and started playing. Artimus Pyle keeping those drums working!
I’ll take Skynyrd over the Stones any day!

Tennessee and Texas have a unique relationship, going back to the Alamo and Davey Crockett.
Most of the crowd didn't even know or care who "Skynyrd" was before this concert . . . . . they sure cared after it though . . .
"Anyone following that should be sweating."
At that exact moment Mick started snorting.
This was Steve gains 9th performance with the band in aa couple of months he went from playing at the Holiday inn to Knebworth 76 crowds estimate 150,000 to 250,000

The rhythm section makes this performance. That's where the energy comes from.
Yes you are so right, they took a song that probably 99% had never heard before and boiled them alive with it. I especially loved the one kid sing lyrics that were wrong but didn’t give a crap. He was feeling it.

In all the videos I've seen, this song here is the best performed of them all!
God Bless those wonderful artists, they were the best. And only one remains.
Keep in mind , besides the fact that this was the biggest crowd they ever played for , Ronnie (vocals, leader) was as usual ....... Barefoot !!!
This is an amazing cover of this song... One of my favorite Skynyrd songs... The energy on that stage that day must have been fantastic... There's no way you can sit still while you're listening to this song

I just bought this entire LS concert yesterday. They only used the tongue for the Free Bird solo. Mick probably would have kicked them out if they had used it earlier! lol!
I think your right- But if they had pulled the plug during Freebird , when they were out on the tongue, I think theyd have had a riot on their hands !
Lol LSs reputation of destruction was known far and wide
M I ck and his highheels had to suck this 1 up
I was very young there's a lot of my girl friends were a ALSO but with some good group of men older than us and I got to see the last Lynyrd Skynyrd concert in Greenville South Carolina it was a fantastic concert is the best I've ever seen
but the girls were jailbait as we call it down south meaning underage then again you may already know what jailbait means under age😊
I'm so glad Artemis Pyle is still alive❤
Thank you for putting this out there again
Stones were just pissed they had to follow the great LS! Mick had to follow Ronnie!
Ronnie van Zant was a bad ass he was the leader of that band if you were out line he would beat he'll out of you rest in lynyrd skynyrd band.
Rip all the members of the band.
I would love to see any rock band do this today, I mean from 2010 forward :WW
The crowd kept calling for Skynyrd to come back and play more. Made the Rolling Stones wait to play.
Same concert do "Call Me the Breeze"
This was always the song I listened to in order to get fired up when I raced motorcycles and it gave me rhythm I could take to the starting line. It always worked
Little bit info, there was a 2 hr wait between Skynyrd and next band they claimed technical difficulties
Probably because Skynyrd left the stage in shambles after that performance!
10cc claimed LS blew monitors during fb...left a smoldering stage blown speakers and rvz told mick stay the f off OUR tongue
Whaoo this is a Name that i know precisely ! Classic Stuff for this time ! Always forward your reactions guys

Those 3 guitar players, IMO best ever !!
Love your reactions. Saw them in mid70s. Great show.
Freebird was always their encore. I saw them in 77 it was my first concert i was 17
The 1977 performance was to me their best !
You should react to Lynyrd skynyrd I’m a traveling man live Version
When Ronnie said make it rain.. He meant it literally.. They were having a drought where they were preforming at
Killer live show! Wish I was there.
This was one of my favorites on One More From the Road. So under played.
There is a song called cottonmouth country on UA-cam Lynyrd Skynyrd sings and it is so good it would have been perfect for the album Nothing Fancy ❤ love the myth Lynyrd Skynyrd the drummer Artimus Py
le is still alive from the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band band I think you'll like the song and thanks for blessing some of that good old homegrown southern style music 🎵
❤
Also from the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band check out the song Michelle thank y'all yes I'm a southern deep South
❤ Thank again
And yes I subscribed
So lucky to see them 6 times
The Smell. Great reaction. ❤
Great reaction. The Rolling Stones had to follow them. A daunting task even for the Stones in their prime.
WHEN THEY GOT BACK TO THE U.S.
RONNY CAME ON STAGE AT THE FOX IN ATLANTA WITH A " WHO THE FUCK ARE THE ROLLING STONES"...T - SHIRT ON !!!
That was what you call a British Invasion ny the greatest Southern band of all time.
Yes they told Mick Jagger said no one can walk on the tongue
This is easily of Gary rossingtons best solos. RIP to the best band 🔥🔥
Thats Lynyrd Skynyrd!
GOAT. SIMPLE AS THAT
You Got That Right....live with Stevie Gaines
Fantastic performance. Feel a bit sorry for Billy on piano as was barely in shot but cam over loud and clear.
Make it rain...yep started in the 70s
❤❤❤
Southern Fried Rock at its best!
ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD.
Devo, Mongoloid é um clássico eterno, é a linha que costura o filme Ex Drummer, assiste aí e vê se vale o tempo...
Eu sei que quando você ver o trailer do filme e o vídeo da música vai ter dor de barriga kkkk
Billy Powell smokes those keys
Trying to keep myself remembering: That ocean of people were not necessarily there to see Skynyrd. They were there to see The Stones yet Skynyrd evoked this kind of reaction.
The STONES had to “SHOW OUT” that evening. SKYNYRD was the main BAND.
I bet the Stones hated having to come out and perform after that !
the best
Guys please keep the video box to the side. It's hard to watch both your reactions when it's in the middle. Cheers!
The Marshall Tucker Band IN MY OWN WAY.
I'm wondering who's performance we are watching?
The Skynyrd plane crash and the Dale Earnhardt crash the two saddest day in my life.
Do another Led and dive into a song that you never heard before!😀
This is just another example of America's great pushback against the British Invasion the British Invasion couldn't withstand the American Revolution and once again the South is the spear point if you want another great instrumental southern rock band from Florida check out The Outlaws I saw them play with Skynyrd in Orlando in the mid 70s it was awesome
Trapeze midnight flyer
Why don't you try listening to a Scottish Band Called TEXAS and their song called ( I Don't Want A Lover )
Their entire Knebworth set is reaction worthy. The Stones ? Ehh not so much.
The live version off of One more from the road is better
