Grohmann makes quality knives. I have the #1, their original belt knife. It is good to see that you gave the #4 a glowing review. It is likely that you would have rated it even higher had you put it through purely knife-oriented paces. I doubt that Grohmann designs these knives -- even their "survival" knife -- for chopping and batonning. The #1, for instance, was specifically designed for hunting and trapping, and I got mine primarily for processing food in the wild. I have a small axe for processing firewood. How does it work with processing wild game? from a survivalist point of view, I don't eat wood and this is named survivalist it is supposed to do everything a knife should do. Where's the meat, what are you going to eat?.
How can you give it six and a half out of 10 for the tip test if it didn't break, ha. Years ago I bought the cold steel Canadian knife. I liked it so much that I eventually bought the real ones. But I use them for food prep not woodworking. I have some other knives for wood. The odd handle shape is kind of cool. But like you said it's not good for chopping stuff.

Most people waste their money buying and collecting "super steel" and modern looking knives. Big mistake over looking this brand as they are epic and actually edc the #1 knife now over my 76 modern blades. Get you one! You wont be ddisapointed
