Nice profession you picked! Lol! It looks so weird when it's flying! I think you need to make one with with an excess of power, and try high alpha, all kinds of other flight aerobics. Lastly, Could you fly it through an piece of foam with that goofy shape? Airplane, jenga or Tetris?

You take me back to my childhood. As a ten-year-old (50 years ago) I was building and flying my own designs. I was raised poor, so I never had kits to work with, so I started buying the Guillows clip-together airplanes for .35 cents and cutting them up for my balsa source, and sometimes resorting to toothpicks and toilet paper. I'd be out in my yard chucking these unique designs in the air and watching them soar. My dad, unlike yours, was too busy drinking beer and smoking cigarettes to care. Never once did he come out and share my thrill and flying one of my creations. How lucky your are to have a dad that shares your victories and defeats. But one thing you do that I also did as a kid was to do a hand launch in your room from one hand to the other, and have the ability to assess the flight characteristics solely on those few feet of free flight. You took me back 50 years, and I know that with the support you have, and the ability to see the wind flowing over a wing, you will go far. You rock!

    I love your spirit.
Back when Bernoullis principal was the one and only explanation for how a wing generated lift I was in college taking an aerodynamics course. It absolutely baffled me how they could teach that the curve on the top of a wing sucked a plane into the air and that was the one and only way that a wing created lift. I thought about all of the flat plate wings on the corner store chuck gliders that I loved as a kid. When I asked the instructor how they flew he said that the angle of attack in essence created a curve on the top of the wing. He followed up by saying that’s why an undercambered wing cannot fly upside down. The next day I brought in my electric Slow Stick with an undercambered wing and proceeded to fly a whole battery pack upside down for the whole class….😂
Keep questioning what you are taught and told!!!

    • @jasonschuerman5232
      @jasonschuerman5232 9 місяців тому

Your instructor's principals are 100% correct. The only thing you did was changing the angle of attack. Try using a undercambered propeller next time you power your aircraft.

Don't forget that in ground effect that the induced drag would decrease. This could explain a yaw moment that you'd have to counter with rudder input. Keep up the awesome videos!

      🔴 What Is Islam?
🔴 Islam is not just another religion.
🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.
🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God.
🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.
🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as:
📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) 📚
🔴 Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus.
🔵 Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him.

@@cysieger5212 👉🔴What Do Muslims Believe about Jesus?
Muslims respect and revere Jesus (peace be upon him). They consider him one of the greatest of God’s messengers to mankind. The Quran confirms his virgin birth, and a chapter of the Quran is entitled ‘Maryam’ (Mary). The Quran describes the birth of Jesus as follows:
(Remember) when the angels said, “O Mary, God gives you good news of a word from Him (God), whose name is the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, revered in this world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (to God). He will speak to the people from his cradle and as a man, and he is of the righteous.” She said, “My Lord, how can I have a child when no mortal has touched me?” He said, “So (it will be). God creates what He wills. If He decrees a thing, He says to it only, ‘Be!’ and it is.” (Quran, 3:45-47)
Jesus was born miraculously by the command of God, the same command that had brought Adam into being with neither a father nor a mother. God has said:
The case of Jesus with God is like the case of Adam. He created him from dust, and then He said to him, “Be!” and he came into being. (Quran, 3:59)
During his prophetic mission, Jesus performed many miracles. God tells us that Jesus said:
“I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. I make for you the shape of a bird out of clay, I breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by God’s permission. I heal the blind from birth and the leper. And I bring the dead to life by God’s permission. And I tell you what you eat and what you store in your houses....” (Quran, 3:49)
Muslims believe that Jesus was not crucified. It was the plan of Jesus’ enemies to crucify him, but God saved him and raised him up to Him. And the likeness of Jesus was put over another man. Jesus’ enemies took this man and crucified him, thinking that he was Jesus. God has said:
...They said, “We killed the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of God.” They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but the likeness of him was put on another man (and they killed that man)... (Quran, 4:157)
Neither Muhammad nor Jesus came to change the basic doctrine of the belief in one God, brought by earlier prophets, but rather to confirm and renew it.

Many years ago at the desert I flew a sailplane at 180mph 6 inches off the ground for nearly 5 miles. With almost no energy lost. Was able to pull up at the end of the run to about 500 ft agl and land normally.
Amazing how the induced drag was almost non existent! If only I could do the same with parasitic drag.

Love to see the channel going pro!
Got to the 1st offset wings video after this one was already out.
    I'd love to see either:
    - the body shifted all the way down against the bottom wing (or all the way up against the top wing)
    - same relative positions but one wing way smaller than the other.
My prediction would be that these variations perform horribly (if they are at all flyable), because the net torque on the body would be far from zero, an then rolling would become a nightmare.

I kind of feel like for a full test of the design it would be better to make something designed for the ground effect, but then it might be uncontrollable. Hear me out. A car with retractable wings that can only go fast enough to achieve ground effect. The vehicle can have both ground and/or air propulsion. Challenge: gain max speed, deploy wings, cross small body of water with ground effects. Bonus tip: the pivot point for the wings dont need to be directly over each other, which allows for the wings to be on the same plane, if you like.

Honestly as a pilot I knew the offed wing would fly it’s basic aerodynamics as long as both wings produce the same lift at the same point just like it would if the wings were on the same level it’s perfectly fine now low level flight is fine but actually flying the plane from rollout to takeoff would bring very interesting complications because the high wing is going to leave ground effect faster so the concern with that would be stalling one wing on takeoff if you didn’t build up enough speed to properly takeoff

one of those things where it depends how you define it. Only the bottom wing will be in ground effect, and you will have to hold some right roll to keep it level but the top wing wont be doing NOTHING, it will just be doing less work, and the bottom wing will be doing more work and a little more efficiently because ground effect.
The important thing about ground effect is its hard to use on models because the distance is so small. Its easier to smoothly fly close to the ground with a bigger plane that you are sitting in than with a small plane you fly from a distance.

You're really talented. You seem to have very good building or flying skills. But Low-flying along the road is just that, low-flying along the road. Ground effect is when you have nose high and low air speeds. Your airplane was nose level and at a fairly decent speed. Your design makes landings nearly impossible. I'm not talking about your model, I'm talking about a real airplane. It would never be able to land. Once in ground effect with the nose high and low air speed that low wing lift right up over the top of the airplane. And land on its back. You have almost a wing span vertical clearance between the two wings. Ground effect normally happens about half the wing span from the ground. Remember you can make model airplanes do things the real ones could never do.
    You did really good!

how about making your vertical supports into flight surfaces too - so it can fly on its side ?

Hey, I’ve watched all your videos and you’re amazing! I love aviation and planes in general and have always wanted to build a flying machine but I don’t know CAD and I don’t have a 3D printer. I really want to actually start making some silly little flying contraptions so do you have any tips on starting out?

Yes! I would learn onshape. It’s free and runs on almost anything. Just come up with a simple design to start out. Something like an attachment for your phone that connects to your Xbox controller. Or just a pencil box. or even a fidget, spinner. And if you enjoyed doing that, and you learned a lot THEN I’d get a printer. I’d just get a cheep one for like $100. And start printing! And when you do start printing, just know that your object will probably be different when you print it in real life, you’re just gonna have to reiterate it a few times and that’s normal. Usually when you print it it’s also like .2 mm bigger in real life in certain dimensions. So you might have to accommodate for that. One really important tool you have to have if you’re gonna design something that you want to interact with another object is digital calipers you can get them from Amazon. So if you wanted something to hold onto your phone, you would want an accurate measurement of the phone with the calipers. And that’s it. If you have a hard time learning Onshape, I’d try something else like Tinker cab and as always look stuff up on UA-cam, watch some videos and you can learn a lot! I hope this helps. Thanks for the comment!

How do you think the Z wing would go with a barrel roll, most rc models will perform more of a cork screw not really a barrel roll nice and tight , Just curious the z wing could be extremly aerobatic with enough power. Keep it up great stuff.

I don't get why people doubt that this plane would fly just as any other except for ground effect. Same amount of lift on both sides, same angle of attach, same surface area and shape

I wonder if longer wings would produce a more noticeable difference in balance while in ground effect. .. Cool experiment though.

With sufficient power in the propeller, ANYTHING can fly. But my question would be : do you need to correct with the control surfaces all the time ?
You did do a "hands off" flight in this episode but it was almost vertical to your position, could you do a hands off flight flying away or towards the camera ?
What is the thrust of your propeller ?

How does the split wing fly different than a regular plane? When you did the barrel rolls coming straight at the camera it looked like it was made for it and it looked like it was from another world.

I think the reason why this plane fly like normal plane is because the wing have same air density, it will feel not normal if the upper wing are so tall so have different air density.

If you ever need inspiration, read the biography of Robert Goddard. They laughed at him his entire life, but today he is considered as the father of rocketry.

i don't know much about flight but I would say your plane rolls because your center of gravity has changed. If your roll axis allowed your wings to be parallel to the ground it might not want to turn. Just a thought.

Make only one wing offset, and then try turning left and right. Are turning to both directions the same?
