I met him years ago in New York City at the BB King Club after their show. He ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME AND SUCKED HIS TEETH LIKE I BOTHERED HIM . LATER THE BAND TOLD HIM TO CHILL OUT . All the members told STOKELY TO CHILL OUT .
One of the best live bands in life.. Nothing happened to them in my world.. That pretty brown eyes 12 inch mix is still in rotation as well as my dear (from the mo money soundtrack) and what kind of man would I be... Forever in your eyes... among many others.. Still in rotation 🔥🔥🔥🔥
You Send Me Swinging has been in my playlist since high school. Man, you gotta love 90s R&B. At least they're getting royalties from those TikTok views too.....
Nothing beats a band(to me). Earth, Wind & Fire, Parliamen/'Funkedelic, Slave, Lakeside, The Dazz Band, MINT CONDITION and the list continues... Let's not forget the big brotha who had an entire orchestra...BARRY WHITE. Come on now 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯. Mint Conditon had a signature sound that was theres only. They didn't sample anyone nor did they get sampled. Mint Condition will forever be in rotation at my crib and in my car. Seriously, who doesn't like singing with Stokeley 🤗😊❤️💯?
When it comes to their talents as TRUE artists, Mint Condition are SEVERELY underrated! My Dear is the BALLAD of all BALLADS! Pretty Brown Eyes (Breakin' My Heart), You Don't Have to Hurt, You Send Me Swingin', and Love is for Fools are some of my MT favorites! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Since 2017 I'm always hearing Stokley's solo singles/hits on urban/R&B radio, at least where I live. That's a rare feat for solo work released by an artist from a band popular back in the 90's (especially after seeing so many of these videos and Unsung episodes and how you don't hear about these solo releases until watching those episodes lol). But he deserves it and has amazing vocals, songwriting and production in his solo hits. My favorites on repeat since then has been Level and She 💃🏽 idk what it's called, but I just heard his latest release with a rap verse in it on the radio a few days ago so he's still churning out R&B hits. Edit: It's called Cafe ft Wale!
I didn't know that their debut album was released when I was 6mons old! My dad has some of their albums & often played them when I was a kid. I LOVE "Forever in Your Eyes" 🤎🤎
Stokley deserves his flowers for the contribution of Mint Condition! Also, it would have been cool to see a Verzuz battle between MC and Tony, Toni, Tonè.
Mint Condition stage show is crazy bruh Saddiq ain't on that level live...vocals don't matter on Verzus stage presence and performance is the key ..I'm definitely not saying Tony Tone Toni ain't got no smoke I'm simply saying Stokely is on another level
Breaking My Heart, You Send Me Swinging, What Kind Of Man Would I Be, You're Not My Daddy You're My Man, You Don't Have to Hurt No More, If You Love Me, Good For Your Heart are my favorites
LOVED this episode. Thank you! I play Jackson guitars today because of the "Breakin My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes) vide when I was a kid. It would be cool to see Fishbone, King's X, Hirax or Living Colour get some love too!
Mint Condition is the last great R&B band that was still doing their thing they were also Prince’s backing band when they were on tour together this was coming Stokley himself from a interview he did a while back I do hope someday that Mint Condition will get back together again and put out more hits.
This has been my favorite group since 1991! Although Brandon Commodore does an outstanding job, I would love to see a Mint Condition reunion with Chris Dave on drums playing with the band! It would be nice if Keri Lewis would play also.
I know Mint condition because my sing professor. He shows me this and other artists. Stokley is one of the best singers of all times undoubtly and the band is just unbelievable, his energy on stage is unique in music history... really. I love them, thanks god for this music
I saw Mint Condition in concert years ago, and so glad I got the chance. They're one of my favorite groups! I love Stokely's voice, and the man can play the drums like no other. Mint Condition was special. Black bands were a rarity in the 90's. I tell my son (who is teaching himself how to play the guitar) how we don't get new bands coming out anymore. At this time, the same can be said for Alternative/Rock bands as well. I miss music from the 90's and early 2000's. It's just not the same anymore. Thank you for highlighting Mint Condition.
honestly, they don't have to release another album. They've done enough. 24 years of basically staying together with just a few low points of hiatus is hella impressive. They've defied the industry's expectations of groups, so now if they wanna do some individual stuff, they more than deserve the right to! They're not 20-something or 30-somethings anymore so it's time to be fully indulgent in their mature personal and professional lives.
Stokley has one of the cleanest, crystal clear falsetto's currently. Very strong and powerful vocals. He is truly Blessed. One of my favorite Singers. The bands playing is also Top tier and is always on point. Keep touring because Mint condition is an Excellent band. 💯
Mint Condition isn't often mentioned in the annals of great 90s R&B bands but were one of the greatest. Stokely deserves credit for his contribution to the band. Also Stokely has been on an amazing solo career. I highly recommend his Sankofa album. It is phenomenal.
I love this band! I saw them perform live at a festival in my hometown and they were awesome. Stokley even played on the drums during their set. I still play their music til this day.
Absolutely one of my top 5 #R&B bands of the 90s !!! One of the few bands that played their own instruments and BTW Stokley stole my Girlfriend lol #90smusic #90sR&B
They still perform at the Black Family Reunion in Cincinnati right? During that “hiatus” timeframe, I know they were performing then too. Stokely always performed a drum solo. A magical time.
Hoping that they all come back together and create great music again. They are the last of great musicians!!! If Jodeci and 112 can do it, so can MC. Rickey,... Put that record on the market, Prey is excellent!!! MC for Life!!!
The 90s was just a different feeling altogether. That is why I feel the first three albums were👌I was especially stuck on Definition Of A Band....every song on that album was fire and truly showed just how diverse their band was. Talented dudes all around👏👏
How do you know if you living in the golden era of something? I took the 90s for granted. I remember walking into Tower Records, or Sam Goodies, or Tape World and seeing so many top notch Hip Hop or R&B bands on the shelves I left without buying anything- had to think it over. Too much talent! I had no idea it wouldn't last.
@@juniorjames7076 I was a teen by '93 and I understand what you mean. Tape World was near my high school!!!! When that era went away.....it was the last decade of a particular sound and memories. Everything since then is just recycling nostalgia. Ahh....to be transported back would be a treat.
Those guys, especially Stokely, came out with some bangers in the 90s. I wish them well in the current state of music because we sure need real music today.
This has become my fav channel now. Short and to the point!! But is that a robot or real person doing the talking? It’s hard to tell😂 either way I love it!
I just want to say mint condition now that’s a band seeing them in Buffalo New York. Amazing I tell you that’s what I grew up on real bands not this new rap and music it’s not the same. I miss my El DeBarge and Luther and Babyface and Janet and Michael and DeBarge family, the list goes on and on and on I tell you the late 80s and 90s music that was music. Thank you are the artist for giving us some wonderful music

Yo Mint Condition style is what modern life music is today as far as the approach, breaks, fan fairs and Stokely’s drumming style and Lawrence chord structure!!! All of the young cats play like MC!!!!!
1:13 Heyyyy 1 of a FEW Groups Who haven't childishly Feuded neither on, or Offline. They also Neva kicked members out Every 5 Minutes.... Unlike SOME Groups.
@Stokely Has one of the most distinguished voices of all times, and his talent is limitless 🙌🏾

I think him and Raphael Saadiq sound kind of alike. I love their voices.
@@bluediamond5440 they have to tank with Tevin
I love this group ❤ They brought a vibe that can not be achieved in this day and time.
Mint Condition has a lot of timeless songs
Breakin My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes) is and still is timeless song by Mint Condition
Classic
THIS BAND DESERVES THEIR FLOWERS. Soul train, BET, NAACP, make it happen. They have so many timeless hits.
Been a fan of theirs since 1991.
Last of the few great bands.
Love all their music.

I like this group! Really glad to hear their story wasn't super messy.
Love them too.
One of my ALL time favorite groups. Thank you for doing this video on them.

The song ‘ What kind of man would I be ‘ asks a very pertinent question to all the brothers out there . Great tune.
They are in my top 10 bands.
So fine!!!!!! Timeless
Mint Condition's song If You Love Me was also heard in the movie Woo with Tommy Davidson and Jada Pinkett Smith
Mint Condition has stood the test of time and their records will be played a century from now, love the guys 💗

Heck yeah it would
THIS IS THE ONE!!! Oh that’s a perfect match!!!! Verzuz need to get on this one right here. 😩😩👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💯💯❤️❤️
Always thought Stokely and Raphael vocally kind of mirrored each other. Throw Rahsaan Patterson in with them.
Nah, Stokes has better vocal range than either of them.

Stockley also collaborated with Ali Shaheed Muhammad from A Tribe Called Quest on the song Banga
Perspective Records had a lot of acts on there such as Mint Condition, Sounds of Blackness and Lo-Key
Also RajaNee and Drama an underrated girls group discovered by the late Gerald LeVert
Forever in my eyes , if you love me and you send me swinging will always be my favorite songs

Stokely a solid dude...seems like he is definitely the glue ,most genuine and like he never wanted to put himself above the group.💪🏿💪🏿

I would love to see Mint Condition in concert with my group of friends trying to break in the music business.
Can you do one on the male R&B group Subway?
Facts!!! This little game we play and fire are still in rotation!

(Breakin’ My Heart) Pretty Brown Eyes are my favorite underrated super classic hit💖❤️
I’m in my 30’s and play Breakin’ my heart like it just came out. They don’t make songs like this anymore.
The original Quite Storm in Washington DC played that song pretty brown eyes man when I tell you that song took off that a understatement.
Those guys, especially Stokely, came out with some bangers in the 90s. I wish them well in the current state of music because we sure need real music today.
One of the best concerts hands down!
Forever in your eyes is my favorite song
And you send me swinging
Someone to Love is still on my playlist ❤
