  • A new episode of my Dr Vstrom, medical video series on Clutch Cable & Lever Maintenance.
    Among other things, the video demonstrates how to access, clean and lube/grease clutch cable and clutch lever.
    This tutorial demonstrates on a 3rd Gen DL 650 Vstrom L7 model but the steps are applicable to a lot of bikes out there.
    It is also connected to other videos that lead or follow such as the hand guard removal and the clutch adjustment.

    I am buying a new 2023 V-strom 650XT on Friday. As soon as it's home, I will be doing all of these maintenance tips right from day one. I don't trust that the factory will do the details like fully lubricate everything so I plan to start very thoroughly from the first day. Thank you for your excellent channel and superb and clear maintenance tips!
    I am an Operating Theatre Nurse and perhaps I should call myself 'The V-strom Nurse'...😆
    Out of curiosity, are you an actual clinical doctor by profession, or do you use the title Dr V-strom for the videos? I was just wondering what your profession is?
    Any way, thanks again for the help and advice. I have subscribed and it is my 'Go To' channel for bike maintenance.

    Another great one. You’re solving my problems before they occur, thank you so much. I’m grateful.
    I’m in lubrication mode here, and my thinking is “yes,” but would you recommend using the same marine grease on the other lubrication points in the manual (footpeg pivots and such) that call for grease? Save for the electrical components, like the kickstand sensor piston, on which I intend to use dielectric grease.
    Perhaps you have a video on these tasks already and I’m just not finding it. Is so, please direct me to the link.
    Thanks Again,
    -WW

    Can we use Chain Lube like Mobil Super Moto Chain lube to do this with the cable?

    • @DrVstrom
      @DrVstrom  5 років тому +1

      In reality this cable has teflon so its not really required unless you notice that you no longer have smooth movement. If you experience that you can use any product that lubes as long as it flows very easy, is not something that attracts dirt to inhibit the movement.

    prolly spray in dry graphite so silicone and crap from other lubes doesn't gunk it up and cause gummy lines
