Hey Shane, really coming together. Been a long road, but I see the finish just ahead. I was watching this and thought back to the beginning. When it's all finished you could do some comparison shots, then and now. Great job!
wowzas Shano, heaps got done in this one! your camerawork looked frantic trying to capture it all. your, i mean the missus, aesthetic taste is sharp mate, cant wait to see how it all turned out!
Albert, this was only half of it!. I had blokes everywhere :-) Sparkies, plumbers, painters, kitchen installers and myself running around like headless chickens.... Got stuff done so it was great. Thanks for watching....and for liking the 'misuses' taste :-) Cheers
LOOOKINGGG GOOOOD ! Thanks for another ripper update uncle knackers, very enjoyable. I hope you and you're fam are keeping well Shane, cop ya next time. Cheers
Wow, It's getting there Shane and those Kitchen Cabinets look great, (good job the wife isn't watching this) and judging by those inside walls by the Kitchen, you will be wearing shades inside with that gleam. You can't beat Dulux for quality paint that lasts. Take Care My Friend, Barry (from England)
Bazz, the kitchen turned out really good. Bit of a weight of the old mind to tell you the truth. The walls aren't actually that bright :-) just my hopeless videoing technique. Thanks for watching mate :-)
Looking good Knackers. I still love the different terms we use for stuff, wall units-overheads, bench top- work top :D theres loads, I do like the concrete work/bench tops though, I'm planning to make my own in situ with white cement to hopefully end up a nice buff colour. got a little while to think about that though :D
G'day Ed. I actually wanted to make my own concrete bench tops as well. A mate of mine did his insitu in his cafe and it was amazing!! He even added a dash of black oxide in the mix which made it look even better. It was a rustic type of look thick l love. Cheers mate
it looked like in the video that the first and last upper cabinets were about 1/4" lower than the middle ones. was this a trick of the light or was it a planned thing?
Dirk...l can see a beautiful roast chicken with some nice roast potatoes, broccoli and garlic smothered in gravy washed down with a couple of beers :-) :-) :-)
G'day Shane, Do you have any pics you could post of your finished kitchen install. Just keen and curious to see what you meaning by installing that 'board' (?) that would cover that gap above the cabinetry and below the bulkhead you installed. Again, great videos 🙂👍. Keep them coming.
I'm enjoying your channel. On the kitchen fit-out, once you had the height set with the first wall cupboard, wouldn't it have been easier to build the bulkhead then, rather than after all the cupboards were up? it must have been tricky fitting dry wall to the bulkhead underside with just a small gap above the cupboards?
G'day Brian. I purposely built the bulkhead last for a couple of reasons. Firstly l wanted the gap between the bulkhead and the overheads to be perfect. I could only do that once the cupboards were in and l could measure off them. Secondly, l was in two minds as to how l wanted to finish the bulkhead and could only really visualise it once the cupboards were in. In regard to setting the drywall, it only went back about 100mm so it was quite easy to set. Thanks for watching. I appreciate the feedback. Cheers :-)
if you have any spare time within the next few months fancy building a baby crib as I need one in 7 months time and fancy building it myself. your projects are awesome and have stolen a good few ideas from your so far Mr Knackers 😊
Shared the progress with the Missus. Her comment was about the shadow line gap you left. Looks good but she reckons that will be an absolute bugger to clean and would prefer the shadow line formed by Aluminium U channel about 20mm deep laid on its side. Your thoughts?
Yeah that would work Stephan. I went for the bigger gap because l really wanted that extra depth look. It's a reasonable size bulkhead and l really wanted to break up that bulky look which is achieved with the larger, deeper shadow line. Thanks for watching mate. Cheers
Nice video, but i strongly disagree with you decision to add the bulkheads over the cabinets. I had them in my kitchen and like collecting dust up there much more than closing in DEAD space. Yes, a real pain in my ass to remove, sand and finish ceiling to matching texture. Still happy and glad i did the process. If i had to do over I would hire some day labors to do it for me. What a mess! Keep Building I will too...
Thanks Tim. Each top their own l suppose Tim. I just love the look. If the bulkhead wasn't there there would be be a large gap between the top of the overheads and the ceiling which would be a major dust catcher which we had with the last kitchen, and the overheads couldn't go all the way to the ceiling because they would have looked massive due to our high ceilings. Have a good one mate and thanks for watching. Cheers
Yes, your correct difference of opinions. I know its not as clean hens my dust collection comment. With the higher ceiling I like the open air and not so trapped feeling I guess. With 8' foot ceiling here in USA I would box them in to or run a speaker wire from the entertainment center area for a ambient sounds if ever used or not...? It gives a home owner choose an easy update option to have before all Sheetrock is closed up. anyways, cheers! I only wish I had a large team like you to work with. I am a one man show mostly.
REALLY coming along Mr Knackers. Won't be long before you turn that house you are building into a home!!!
Not long now Mark :-)
wow, that is a milestone...the first furniture. Looking good Shane.
Thanks Alex
Kitchen looks great, I sure love seeing the painting done with brushes and rollers. It is 100 time better then the thin coat a sprayer out on.
Yeah l'm a bit old school too John,
Exterior paint color is great!
Thanks David. It actually looks a lot better in the flesh. Cheers
It is coming together well. It will be time to move in soon! Well done knacker.
Thanks Daniel. Yeah not long now mate :-)

It was just a lighting trick Scott. They're all on the same level. Cheers mate
just wondering if you got the fence done. and if its in any of the episodes?
No mate, the fence was already there. We may change the front fence own the future but we're running a little low on funds at the moment. Cheers
Almost there!
Close...very, very close :-)
Shaping up nice mate, what sort of grub are you going to whip up for the first cook up ?
Dirk...l can see a beautiful roast chicken with some nice roast potatoes, broccoli and garlic smothered in gravy washed down with a couple of beers :-) :-) :-)

Hi Shane, i love your videos, very helpful, however is it possible to put all your Owner Builder Series into one playlist? plllsssssss :)
Hey John....the playlist is under 'My BeachShack Renovation'. Go to my channel and check it out. Thanks for watching. Cheers :-)

hi looking good mate
Thanks Dave
Love that guy at the end grinding that benchtop producing all that silica dust. No mask.
