this is the first video that actually gives clear instructions on how to adjust tension on belts. which is very useful if you ever have the unfortunate need to replace your belts.
No I have not needed to replace the belts, I have spare in case of breaking. For the 80W it is a 10mm wide belt and for my larger machine 15mm Belt - You can purchase by the metre. Cheers Matt mwlaser.com.au/product/cnc-timing-belts-fasteners/
I know this original post was a while ago, but I had the same issue with lasering a circle. I tighten the belts and squared the gantry. Worked just as you explained. Now I'm moving on to calibrating the stepper motors for the x and y axis. Thanks for the video.
Hello verry nice video,I have a question please if the problem with the circle are only at the right side of the laser i mean at the top right and the bottom right what is the problem?
My gantry stopped moving. Working great one day and stopped the next. Even at start up it go to start position or frame . Any ideas? Thank you Dave from Texas
hi Matt, i hve co2 laser cutting machine , when ever i cut square or rectangle it cut out of shape, if try to fit the same cutting in reverse , in the cut out portion it wont fit, can you suggest me any option to reduce this
Hi Matt, I recently made a mistake by running my Lazer head into an object I had in my bed and it hit it pretty hard. The laser head is okay as far as I know but now it won't engrave where it needs to according to my subject matter X and Y coordinates in lightburn. For example if I have a 10 x 10 piece of wood in the center of my machine, and make sure it's there in lightburn and I hit run and it only jogs out about 6 in and tries to engrave completely in the wrong spot. Is this a late burn issue or perhaps a mechanical? Any ideas would be very helpful, the machine has been down for 3 days now.
Hi Matt. Great video. I always learn a lot from watching you explain things. Recently I have some trouble with my Y axis not moving past 768 mm on my machine. Is that anything to do with the machine itself or more of a software issue? I also just recently switched back from doing tumblers. Thanks!
Check rotary is disabled in software when not in use. Check Axis "breadth" / length is set correctly in the Vendor settings. if you require further assistance email matt@mwlaser.com.au cheers Matt
Hi Matt. I wish you will see this comment as i am really in trouble, I tried a lot but all in vain. In my both Chinese machines 100 and 150 w. (Some times) while engraving, all of a sudden the laser head jumps to few millimeter further ( X or Y), continuing from this now spot and destroys all my job. As far as i know you are the best for this i am sure you can help me. (This issue happens only in top- middle part of the bed) Both machins are almost new, no loosen parts and good belts...
Something is moving that shouldn't be moving. It could be belts tenstion it could be screws on laser head. Given that machine is new I would also make sure your groundwork is properly flat and that material itself is not moving.
Hi, very usefull video. Thanks alot for the info. Maybe you can help with my problem. I have a repeating missalignmnet on the X-Axis. I have tighten the belts and bolts and also aligned the steps via software (Vendor Settings). But from time to time I'm getting a deviation of around 2mm on a 300mm line. If ran the alignment procedure again, it will fix it but after a day or two it will run out of alignment again. Do you have an idea? thanks.
Hey Matt, hopefully you can help, I've just got the exact machine as yours but Y axis won't move up and down when the botton is press on the controller cheers
the method is the same for each axis on this machine, the only difference is on the x axis the laser head bracket is integrated into the belt tensioning carriage.
@@MWLaser I am attempting to fix my x axis, when I turn on the machine the head goes towards 0,0 but grinds on the X as though it doesn't know to stop. how can I fix this, or what should I search for to fix this?
Sounds like the limit switch is not functioning, or is not positioned to detect axis travel. Check it out, and if you still require assistance email askmatt@mwlaser.com.au Cheers Matt

Is there a way to contact you to show you what my laser is doing , I’ve adjusted my belts but no luck , I can’t cut a perfect circle the top and bottom of circle are out of line more like a diagonal to right and bottom left of circle starts to make a oval shape
hello sir , i have issue with my laser , my y axis rail is not at 90 degree . if i set it at y+ then while coming to y- its no 90 degree anymore , and bcz of thid the alignment is getting out . my factory is close for the past 2 weeks and the mechanics are not able to find the problem because i have already changed the sliders, and the pully too but the issue is still there. pls help me out
@@MWLaser thank you for atleast answering. Last night after watching the video i got up from my bed and tried to do something with the belts. Till 4 am i found out the issue maybe was on the belt tension. Yet i won't say i have solved the issue 100% but atleast its working better than that. And i think i can make it better. Thank you for your video and support
Hi Matt thank you for the alignment video very helpfull and I am about to attempt this exact fix. however I am worried that if I move the Y axis to get both axis back to square doesnt that mean I will have to re-align the mirror on the head of the laser? I'm not confident on mirror alignment and don't want the laser out of service.
Really enjoyed this video! Thanks for being clear- I just wanted to say, there is a high pitched noise throughout the video that really hurts the ears when listening to you talk. It may be an age thing, possibly!
very useful, there is no proper laser cutter belt-tightening video till now, keep up the good work thanks matt.

Very useful, any particular place in the cutting surface to do the test, example, far from 0.0 near.
no the position on the cutting surface should not affect the dimensions of the cut piece. Cheers Matt
Thanks for the video...would I ever have to lube anything? My 60w is starting to making noise when going front to back :(
General maintenance required, regularly Clean axis rails, use machine oil on unsealed bearings if your machine has these.
