I love seeing 'the Chosen's' perspective of Matthew. I have an autistic son and I have wonder about how that works with our Father in heaven. It showed me that the kingdom of God is for everyone. He loves all of us. That erased and reminded me of my human doubt. His love is beyond us all. And with that I have great hope for my son.

The genealogy is important to mention because it shows how things tie together.

Funny I think signs are really good some make you think. I saw one driving a van for the workshop. That sign said and I quote " LIFE HAS MANY CHOICES ETERNITY HAS TWO WHICH ONE WILL YOU PICK" unquote .

First of all, praying for everyone in the LA area regarding the hurricanes. Second, as a Christian and science teacher (public school for 17 years), I am extremely passionate about the Earth's age and its significance to understanding Scripture. On the other hand, knowing Christ is the most important matter in ALL discussions. That's eternal. I do, however, believe that understanding there is a HUGE discrepancy in scientific evidence that 'verifies' the Earth is billions of years old. I believe discussion is healthy, productive, and makes us better students of both the Word and science.
Also as far as the genealogies Matthews is for the kingly line Luke is for the priestly line. To show that he is our high priest and king

I have a 1846 study Bible that begins time at 4004 bc. The debate of the earths age is a stumbling block for some people. God made Adam not as a baby, so God made earth the same way. Ecclesiastes 3:11 sums it up for me
Consider: Jesus chose Matthew as His recording Apostle.
Phil ascribes to young earth. Al ascribes to old earth. And, Jase doesn’t care or see the point. The point is that it is fun to debate various topics about the Creator of the universe - it’s fun & invigorating conversation. It’s awe inspiring for those of us interested in the subject. But, for others it’s irrelevant. I agree with Phil. And, someday we will all know! Love you all in Christ!
So especially back in the day just gettn to the meetings was a Challenge to most. God knew this. Then said where 2 or more are Gathered. = an Assembly. Sometimes just husband and wife are the only there too Pray !!! So the 2 of you pray as an assembly, together just the 2 of you. It can be 2 strangers that want to pray. I have been studying the genealogy for this purpose of understanding the age of the earth using the booknof Jubilee. A Jubilee is actually not 50 but 49 because it is 7 groups of 7 years. The 50th year is actually year one of the next Jubilee. We are one year away on the Jewish calendar from starting the next Jubilee. We are in Jubilee 118 about to start 119.

One thing that I had to disagree with. Yes, dinosaurs did live with man and were on the ark. All dinosaur fossils contain carbon-14. The maximum life of carbon-14 is about 100,000 years. Therefore the dinosaurs died during Noah’s flood about 4400 years ago. Many came off the ark and survived for centuries. Job wrote of the dinosaur that was referred to as behemoth. The Bible makes many references to dragons which was the ancient term for dinosaurs. The word dinosaur was not coined until sometime in the 1800’s.

I love love love puns! Yes, I am a well educated grow up. I would bet a lot of people do not know what the various names that Jesus has been referred to actually means. I find it endearing, or personable when a church can poke a little fun without being disrespectful, or off the deep end (either way) political.
I was in a desert state and passed a church sign one day and it read:

I had to laugh and get a photo. I wondered when he when into the Ministry. I also wondered if he did music ministry.
I am sure the folks of that church would not have understood my amusement, but I got a good laugh, and still think about that place.

The gospel of Matthew was written to the Jewish people. To show them that Jesus was the Messiah through his lineage and to refer to the sacrifices throughout that would only be important to that community.
