Hi, not trying to be rude but I thought you should know that the variation in temperature and the changing seasons is not because of the difference in distance from the sun, it's the incident angle of the light from the sun at a particular part of the planet at a particular time of year. During the winter, the incident angle of the light coming from the sun at that location is more oblique and during the summer, the incident angle is more squared off. The more oblique the incident angle, the less energy is being absorbed by the atmosphere and earth, and so the lower the temperature. I know this video is a little old so this is probably too little too late but I wanted to make sure you knew for the future! As for the tips you suggest, I appreciate everything you have to say!

Love the video! One correction, in summer, the farther south you are, the less hours of sunlight you will have. For example, Alaska will have 18 to 20 hour days, but LA would only have maybe 15 or so. So you might have longer days in summer than LA!

From Quebec, montreal. Winters are hectics, somedays it's sunny and really cold (-35C) and sometimes gloomy and wet with ice rain (+4C), depending of the years. In the few last years it has been especially warm but cloudy, so growlights are becoming less of an option, especially with succulents. Thanks for the indept walkthrough! :)

Thanks for the video. I'm going into my second winter experience, roughly 150 unique plants this year, and I wanted to share some of my tips. I also add epsome salt to my water every second or third cycle to give the roots a bit of a boost. I also in between the epsome salt add some hydrogen peroxide to address any root rot issues because the plants aren't using as much water. I do use a water meter, but there is nothing wrong with a little insurance. Much love my plant friends

I have succulents with a lot of farina on the leaves that don’t react well to neem oil. If you’re preemptively treating your plants, it’s important to know what plants you have and how they’ll react to changes, including pest management. Your insecticidal soap will work perfectly for tropicals, but if you’re treating succulents, I’d suggest leaving out the neem and maybe even increasing the amount of alcohol.
I would suggest a cheap and easy way to make a greenhouse over your plants. Its not pretty but it works in a pinch. Putting a clear plastic bag over the plant has saved a few of my humidity and moisture loving plants like ferns. I got a humidifier this year and it's so much less stressful:). This year I have alocasia and calatheas so they are snug up beside the humidifier. If you have a jar that is big enough that would go over your plant then that is more aesthetically pleasing and you can put the jar over a humidity tray too. I heat my house with a wood fire stove so my air is super dry and this works. 😁

Thank you for this video!! I live in Minnesota now and have been wondering about getting my plants through winter. Weirdly, my plants are doing much better here than the ones I had in L.A.! I owe it to having a huge south facing bay window now, and increased humidity.
You know what!😁🎉🎉🎉i went & finally got my plant as I said it was calling out to be. Honestly I'm disappointed that inexperienced people r given jobs to look after plants BUT! They r killing them by over watering them. I had to rescue that rubber plant as a few leaves were on the floor & the tips of the leaves r now brown😞 I hope it will get past the stress its been through. Regards

Oh God Bless your soul!!!! I live in Fargo, North Dakota and winter has started here for us already😰 and this is my 1st winter as a plant daddy🤗😥 now both my Dracena Trees(Marginata &Fragrans) are dying, Ive lost about half the leaves on 1 of the Marginata stalks, trunk, tree idk but I have 2 Marginatas in the same pot, growing beautifully together, and 2 Fragrans sharing a planter, one grew significantly taller than the other but I love both my trees and theyre so beautiful, hope these tips work!!! Wish me luck yall, I really need it😭 My green thumb musta been gifted from the Grim Reaper😅idk how those plants even made it this far😄 Pray for me
Oooo! Nice mirror! I have big windows facing North and facing west. On the west side is my covered porch. It does not allow for as much sun/light because of this.
For those of us with south facing windows...fellow Canadian (Edmonton). During the winter is it safe to move our sheer curtains? That way our south facing windows can feed our plant babies the best they can.
Hmm I’m not sure how your winter is like, it usually overcast like here in TO or more like bright and sunny? I would say it’s ok to remove it, I actually don’t put any shade or curtains on my windows...it’s been fine, but still be mindful when it comes to direct light and keep an eye and see how it goes.
On a serious note, I have this grow light bulb from Dollarama. Is it a good idea to keep my grow light on at night so my plants can thrive during the Winter time?
This video came at the right time for me, this is going to be my first winter as a plant mom here in Toronto and I’m a little bit worried about it. Small plants I know they will be fine, but I wonder what I’m going to do with my 4 monster ferns that I bought during the summer, because they reminded me my home country, and now they are parking on my office floor taking away all the walkable space in the room.
Thanks for the advise, i will ask you if i can revive my Ficus Tineke wich is really sad and all the leaves are going down, I've placed it near the window and it's cold outside, but i used to open a little bit the windows

OOOOO!!! omggg the set uppp!!! I love the black contrast, the gold 3D mirrors, the floating shelfff~ ahhh Beautiful. Also the way my mouth dropped when you said "may the odds be ever in my favor" I'm in Wisconsin and the seasons are starting to change TT hence the panic and realization that my plants are already hungry for light
i know this is so besides the point, but where did you get that mirror LOL
He won it!
@@ladyveevee2888 thats incredible i am jealous!! :-)
Hello sir Christian thanks for the tips on how to take care of our indoor plants during winter god bless
I had a rosary plant, which you call string if hearts, same I miss it sooo much!! I had it for ten years and made lots of then by rooting then for family and friends. I'd love to find one again..
Thank you for this video!! I live in Minnesota now and have been wondering about getting my plants through winter. Weirdly, my plants are doing much better here than the ones I had in L.A.! I owe it to having a huge south facing bay window now, and increased humidity.
Hayward California.... just now getting cooler. Been summer like until now
You know what!😁🎉🎉🎉i went & finally got my plant as I said it was calling out to be. Honestly I'm disappointed that inexperienced people r given jobs to look after plants BUT! They r killing them by over watering them. I had to rescue that rubber plant as a few leaves were on the floor & the tips of the leaves r now brown😞 I hope it will get past the stress its been through. Regards
Super helpful video. Thank you for sharing 🙏 I especially lit up over how you use grow lights. Brilliant! That resonates with what plants would naturally want as they are not in sunlight 24/7 out in nature. Just LOVE your backdrop😍
Your intros are always creative!!!! What a great love for plants :D
I’m so glad you made this! 👏🏽 so many great ideas! Thank you!
In Edmonton we get about 7ish hours of sunlight at the darkest although its 10am and its only just starting to get properly bright outside
i live in the middle east- there’s no in between with the weather it’s either so hot in summer or wayyy too cold during the winter.
How do i care for my plants and specifically my ficus elastica?
Nice the way you have the plants beautiful 😍 ❤
So happy you made this! Thank you! Love your videos buddy!
You are hilarious. I love your intros 💕 Funny how u mentioned Sharina... I love her too.
Omg thank you so much for all your information I am a newbie to the plant society and loving all the information that you’re giving us this is be my first winter with my Hoyas and hopefully all will go well
7:15 I'm from Northern Norway and let me tell you I am shaking in fear for my plants during the winter. I have some tropical plants that I will lay down my life to help survive the cold.
Hello I want to say thank you for sharing this video I learned a lot I'm looking forward for your next video God bless
Wish me luck yall, I really need it😭 My green thumb musta been gifted from the Grim Reaper😅idk how those plants even made it this far😄 Pray for me
I live in Arizona, so lots of sunlight, but usually less than 10% humidity. 🌿🌵🌞
Thank you for this video. Very helpful for a first time plant mama like me
I’m in Texas and have to run the humidifier during some Summer months too.
Labai įkvepiantis video, laukiu daugiau tokio turinio!
Oooo! Nice mirror! I have big windows facing North and facing west. On the west side is my covered porch. It does not allow for as much sun/light because of this.
ThAnk you for this video! I love my plants and I live in NJ, so it is cold here right now. I’m a bit afraid for my plants. Thanks for sharing this!
Thank you for mentioning us in Anchorage, AK. 🥰 great video.
On a serious note, I have this grow light bulb from Dollarama. Is it a good idea to keep my grow light on at night so my plants can thrive during the Winter time?
Plants still need their sleepy time, at least 6-8 of non-electrified rest.
Thanks for the reminder video! We all needed it!
Very helpful.. It's encouraging to know we can get thought this 🙏🏼
Love the white board ! Thanks for thr tips!
What difference do pebbles make vs just a bucket of water?
This video came at the right time for me, this is going to be my first winter as a plant mom here in Toronto and I’m a little bit worried about it.
Small plants I know they will be fine, but I wonder what I’m going to do with my 4 monster ferns that I bought during the summer, because they reminded me my home country, and now they are parking on my office floor taking away all the walkable space in the room.
Thanks for the advise, i will ask you if i can revive my Ficus Tineke wich is really sad and all the leaves are going down, I've placed it near the window and it's cold outside, but i used to open a little bit the windows
Welcome back! Good video! Good tips
