I've sound engineered Richard hawley a few times and I think he's the finest artist that's come out in the last 15 years as this is what music is all about. I have all his albums
I cannot believe how great he is. Within two weeks of hearing The Ocean (about 12 weeks ago), I had down loaded all his albums plus single b-sides....(just as well I am divorced as I don’t have to justify the expenditure....however, after hearing a few songs on each album, there was no decision to be made!)
This is “Must Have” music. I have thousands of songs on my iPhone, but for the last 12 weeks I have been unable (unwilling?) to listen to anything other than Richard Hawley...I am absolutely gorging on this gorgeous music! I feel blessed to have stumbled across him...so, now my mission is to make all my family and friends aware....

Richard is one of Sheffield’s greatest ambassadors and I’m so proud that I’m also from the steel city. I really am baffled as to why Richard doesn’t get the accolades that he deserves, not that he cares.
Richard Hawley has one of those rare and near-perfect voices, like Elvis Presley and K D Lang. Awesome.
One of the greatest British songwriters. So very under-rated. Keep creating beauties like this one.

This video tears me up every time: at 2:13 when the lad lets go and runs off makes me think of the time in the not too distant future when my kids won't 'need' me any more and will be independent....gets me right in the chest!
I felt that to the core
Treasure every moment, every single moment, everyday I think of the times I had with my eldest son when he was a boy. We became estranged when he grew up and never had the chance to reconcile, he was killed in a crash 4 years ago. Treasure every moment.

This is such a strong single - classic driving rhythm, haunting Scott Walker like voice, meaningful lyrics. The melody is still hummable several hours after hearing it.Keep the top songs coming Mister Hawley

Album after album, Richard has composed the most fantastic collection of songs so far this century.
My gran died about 7 years ago and not long after I ended up in hospital! The stress and grief made my psoriasis flare real badly! I just sat in bed listening to this thinking about all the great childhood memories I had with her ! Thank you mr Hawley !!!!

This song is beyond incredible. It is a multidimensional masterpiece. That strong, sharp and constant snare drum contrasted with Hawley's smooth vocals make for a gorgeous sound that is like a wall of pure feeling coming at you. Combine that with a simple yet authentic video and you feel like you are thrown into an endless world of possible destinations. Every time I listen to this I walk away feeling I can conquer the world. Now if we could only bring him over to the states for a tour.

I'm a big fan of Richard Hawley's music. I have all his albums in my collection, but was not so keen on his last album Standing at Sky's Edge where he broke away in my opinion from great songs like this one. I think this album is a return to the music I really think Richard does well.

I lived in Hope Vicarage where my Grandfather was vicar. I went camping in Hope Valley as a child and as a teenager I worked for the National Trust on the Longshaw Estate. I remember being on that railway bridge in 1962/3 when there was so much snow.I moved to France 30 years ago and took one of my daughters back for a walking holiday here a couple of years ago. This video encapsulates my entire life. I cry every time I watch it (but don't tell anyone). Of all the places I want to be on the planet, this is my favourite.
Oh, and I was born in Sheff. How could I have forgotten that :)
