Hey there Billy, ...I guess I missed this video, ... The little red cod reminded me of the little tom cod we have here on the West Coast... Stateside… but they're light in color.. almost white.. and never more than 6” … seen less and less these days… You mentioned 17-year-old reels… I found a never-been-used vintage Abu 10000c.… cleaned it, lubed it, and spooled it... Took it to the beach the other day...to let it rip... I must say, .. This reel was made for slinging large lures a long way.. and boy does it.…! Such a joy to cast... Just got another one today… the Abu 9000c.. almost in mint condition...getting some Abec 7’s... btw, .. these were made between 1965 to 1970...,I think that's pretty close to date… such a simple design and so well made….so smooth in free spool.… long spins!
Hi bud. The old gear is still the best sometimes, easy to maintain. And also the build quality was so much better than today. You just can't beat it. Thanks Brother 😁👌
I enjoyed that thanks! Brought me back to my childhood days watching my uncle Brian Beachcasting and showing off all the rigs he made up himself. The guys of 30 years ago, God I miss him. Subscribed 👍
Absolutely loving your videos only discovered you the last few days, what you do is right up my street I fish 98% of the time on my own always at new marks when possible,I love the process of the hunt and preparation and no knowing what could be out there proper class 🙌if your ever in south wales hit me up 👊see you on the beach 😉
Hi Billy. Absolute awesome vids.. makes me proud to be Irish ☘️ One of the nightmares of using suncream and fishing, is, it’s absolutely toxic for fish and if they scent it on your bait, they won’t touch it with a barge-pole. I’ve been a victim. Caught nothing one day. Went out the next after having had the missus to apply it and had a great day! Tight lines bro.. keep them vids coming !
great video Billy ... enjoyed watching it ... well done 👍 ... I love fishing Dongel from the kayak ... great days out and great fish we had there ... maybe some day we meet at the beach ... tight lines Billy
Awesome as always Billy Brother ✌Iknow you said not to look up your nose, but i did and seen all your secrets 🤣🤣 lucky it was me otherwise others would steel your ideas 🤣🤣🤣✌✌
YAY! BILLY! Just back from 10 days driving around Northern Spain.... Didn´t get a line wet 😞 Great to come back and watch you wetting line and catching fish! :-)
I fish Lough Swilly a fair bit in the summer for the Tope on light gear they don't have scrap surprised to see two local lads on the same day using freshwater eel sections for bait they did better than us using Mackerel lives. That and Donegal is only a short drive for me in Omagh.
Great to see you fishing in Donegal some of them marks are crawling with good thornies , I was lucky enough to get a tope there myself some criac , all the best lad , keep them coming
Really enjoyable video as always Billy……I’m still feeling the effects of Covid from the beginning of July🙁….however, was out fishing last week and picked up a lush bass😀….keep up the good work and lovely to see you fishing in Ireland……all the best xx
Fun watch as always Billy. Eels seems so alien to me lol. Obviously we dont have them in central 🇨🇦 😂. That rig you used looks similar to ones I've used here for lake trout, called gorge hooks. We rig herring on them.
@@Billyfishing_watch no way, not here. Even the great lakes dont have eels. Not Lake Superior anyway. St Lawrence River at the end of the lakes has American eels that migrate up from the Atlantic but they dont get anywhere near us.
Mark 1 - Have to fish the beach to the right of it , Fished the piers around the area a fair bit and seen some really nice blonds off the beach over the years but they seem to be hit and miss. Just have to be lucky
Nice vid bud. BTW...I found those needle we were talking -about last week. Those along with "other things". You told me to message you on messenger. Funny guy...which messenger were you speaking of? lol. So, I guess that was another "let's drive the Yank nuts" kind of thing.... lmao Anyhow, thanx for posting
Hi Billy, liked your channel, I'm new in Ireland and I'm living in Letterkenny, Do you have any suggestion of good shore fishing spot near Letterkenny?
Hi. Letterkenny is not far from Lough swilly, they're you can catch thornback rays, conger eels, flounder, sea trout, turbot and lots more. Tight lines, thanks Brother 👍😁
Hi Ian, no they were mustad hoodlums. I don't know what a dongle is. But the Dingle dangles are a South African innovation, and they work so well. Thanks Brother 👍😁
Hi Matthew, it depends on where you are fishing, and what size the bait is. And what you are fishing for. If I was fishing for flat fish like plaice, then yes. Then, in the right conditions, I would cast a bait out 150- 175 meters. Hope this answers your question 👍😁
