Thank you Elyse for your prompt reply. I will be trying this this summer.
Great work! Which resin did you use? Can you tell me how much resin do you need for one vase and how many layers you put in?
Elyse your work is very beautiful, I'd love to try to make a balloon but have had many failed attempts using plaster of paris and also other plaster. can you please tell me what the plaster mix is that you use and the ratio? are your balloons latex or specially coated inside? I'd be so pleased if you could let me know your recipe ;)
I use hydrocal plaster--it has a little more give to it when it sets and is very hard once fully cured. The plaster mix ratio is 45g Water to 100g Plaster. You will have to experiment with scaling the ratio to the size of your balloon mold. My success rate when I began was probably around 10%--it's not easy. Air temp is factor as well. Good luck!
wow absolutely lovely.. creativity is incredible..you are lucky to have this to who you are in life..thank you for this video..so nice !
Dear god....I was mesmerized. STUNNING work and video. Gail Plymouth Devon .
Hi there just wondering were do you buy your balloons from and what size regards David
Beautiful! How would you ship one? They seem fragile to be able to ship?
your work is so beautiful. what material do you use to give this shine, it looks like glass, I thought it was, I'm amazed
Hi..I am from Indonesia
Amazing...its soo creative
I like it,the simple work Tutorial, good for decoration.
Hi I'm from Brazil, it was amazing to see your video, I've just signed up myself, congratulations.
I enjoy the process of creating too, not knowing the outcome. I work with metal, however lately I have been working with other materials too.
Love your work!
And Eits is my favourite band to listen to when I work XD
Lol. it is funny to see you doing this process... I "invented" this method for me not knowing what I am doing and not looking for someone else who did it before. I was experimenting how to produce plaster balls. But iI am filling the balloons with air and then use a bottle with liquid plaster to fill the plaster into the balloon. And afterwards i stabilize everything with epoxy. It is so much fun to make the balls (and it is so much mess if the balloon explodes...)
Thanks for showing
ehehehehe....In fact this girl thinks that she invented something new, but she did not invent anything at all! I have done this work for over 30 years. Before she was born!
I also laughed a lot the way she creates suspanse and this is already very common!

I love your art, so Beautiful and the finishing touch with resin dripping down. I have some questions Do you use white cement? And What type of balloons you use?
Hi Randi--thank you for the kind words. I use hydrocal plaster and latex balloons.
Randi Öhman Hi again Elyse i have bought Lightweight Hydrocal plaster and round balloons in latex 48 cm in dia. I read that you use 100g plaster and 45g water to your balloon. In the your movie it looks like you have double the amount. I wood realy like to know how much you have to one balloon? Grateful for answer. Randi
@@randiohman4766 Hi Randi. The ratio is 45g water to 100g plaster, but you will have to scale the ratio to the balloon size you use. This is an experimental process! Helpful tip: I always under inflate the balloon. Good luck!
I tried with a balloon, but it explodes on my face¡ what kind of ballons you use?
Interesting process but what material was that? No explanations or details.
Can unplz tell me why mine didn't work?
Once i filled it with plaster of Paris, i let it set for long time.
Once i go & touch the balloon it started cracking on the inside. Smh i did wat these VIDEOS did but theirs hardened mine wasn't hard enough i guess.
Wat did i do wrong? 6times too many fails.
Bonjour Elyse.
Beautiful 👏 Does the resin strength the pot so it’s not so fragile and can be decorated?
Is this plaster of Paris or is it plaster with longer open time? Love trying new ideas these are inspiring.
Thanks, I have used it in the past and will attempt the balloon idea and cross my fingers.
What type of plaster is this?? 💗
How many plaster of paris are u usin g and how many water please..thank u for stuning artworks
What kind of ballon and gips you use??
I’m almost afraid to ask but ……. please … please … what kind of plaster did you use for the balloon 🎈 was it plaster of Paris ? Gypsum ?? I hope you reply anyone ????? I’ve been needing this answer for 5 MONTHS !!! Please 🙏 reply ???? 7-11-23
Hi Elyse, I run workshops for young carers (children) in the UK would you be able or willing to share what balloons you use? I have tried several types in the past but never found any that appear like the ones you are using. Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks in advance for your help. Russell
Hi Russell--I use qualatex balloons. The ones in this video are 36" diameter, but are underinflated so the latex is thicker. Good luck and hope this helps :)
@@ElyseGraham Thanks Elyse, we have used Crystal R plaster for other projects. We are hoping to turn these into large candles with some holes to see the coloured wax through. I will keep you posted. The balloons to date have been an issue but I’ll check them out. Your work is amazing by the way. Especially love your use of resin.
@@russturner8980 Sounds great! and thank you for the kind words--best of luck to you!
bonjours
Hi Elsy can l use epoxy risen out side gesso vase
What is the brand of the white cement?
Beautiful short tutorial and easy
Your video is quite inspirational and the outcome is stunning. I'm about to venture and recreate what you made. Quick question, how many minutes do you keep rotating the plaster and balloon before you set it on the table to have a "base"? And (if you have used colored latex balloons) does it stain the plaster if you leave it too long? I have never worked with these materials and I'm quite nervous. Thanks in advance!
Hi There. I don't time the casting process as heat and humidity are a factor. It is really just something you have to practice and get the feel for. I like using clear balloons (though the color of the latex will not transfer) so I can see if the plaster is running down the sides of the balloon--if so, keep rotating! Good luck and have fun (and expect some failures!)
@@ElyseGraham Thanks! The wild fires aren't helping with my "Prime" deliveries. It's been week now. The whole PacNW is so smoky right now. I'm scared of balloons popping. I will order an overall. lol.
Hi... very nice work...i am interested to try this... what is that solution you used and how to make it
@@allinone1az100me too still waiting for an answer I believe she used plaster of Paris of gypsum in the balloon 🎈 the resin I’m not sure about as it is new to me also …
Talented lady stay safe Godbless im your new subcriber
How mutch of everything do you need if I wanna try it at home?
Can we glow it with lights inside?
You can try! The plaster is usually uneven, so the light might not be consistent.
Can i use white cement only
Bonne chance.
that is me as well, not sure how it will work out, but I love the process
Hi, Did you use dental plaster?
Hi, thank you for your respond. I used dental plaster stone and it set in 2 mins. However regardless either I used cement, plaster of paris or dental stone , after awhile my ballons pops and all the balls crack, is there certain type of ballon you use?
I love your work art and I tried at least ten times still fail.
thanks Annie
Dust collectors... I have been making them and buying them my entire life. A lot of the glass pieces I have created at very fragile and serve no function other than to hopefully create a smile. Very beautiful. I bet that a dental drill (or Dremel) could be used to let both light and the internal resin to flow through. Nice work young lady.
@@ElyseGraham I'm sure it's nothing you haven't thought of before. Ever try this with concrete?
@@brianbassett4379
Hello ? Brian if you find this mesage PLEASE PLEASE REPLY ILL WAIT AS I READ ALL MY MESSAGES IN NOTIFICATIONS… You ask this woman artist if she ever used cement in her 🎈 balloon & I need to KNOW WHAT SHE DID USE BUT CANT SEEM TO FIND THE ANSWER HELP PLEASE?!7-11-23
So that was it? What was the end result for adding the colors inside? Do you add lighting inside to see the colors she added? Seems like a lot of work adding colors just to have I a tiny bit of it sticking out.
Think about the subtlety that this technique offers. If it were just another colorfully splashed up structure you wouldnt blink an eye. Here the artist gives you just a hint of color (as well as the illusion of dripping up) to draw you to the piece to have a closer look. Simple and clever.
@@renatamuras1058 It still doesn't answer my question. Is it a sculpture? A vase? I wouldn't not see a purpose for this item unless it was a sculpture as it is very large circle with a very small opening except for it being a vase. I'm sorry. I'm not trying to offend or insult the artist's work as she obviously takes pride and time with her work. I'm just wondering what the item is.
@@the12makeit A form, sculptural (background in the arts mostly sculpture). I however ended up almost dead from the class of chemicals she is using (epoxy resins) as even with a mask they are highly toxic (industrial fans to exhaust highly recommended).
That said, have you ever been out and about and saw a "hint" of something, that piqued your curiosity. MHO that is what this hint of color does. As another stated - Renata, it spurrs one on to look inside for a burst of what prior was hidden color.
@@sazure2 Hi dear do you know how much epoxy resin and how much plaster is using?i want to make it but i do not know the basics.Thank you.
@@katerinanal8059 I guessed you missed the part where I mentioned I ended up almost dead from the epoxy resins. I didn't use them so much but they were at the college I was attending at the time. I was "vegetative" for years and ended up on permanent low SSD (I was in my 40's). Since the class of chemicals or related are found in fragrance products (synthetic which most are, shampoos, perfumes, colognes so on) it leads to sheer isolation. Chemical injury and over 79 million people have this or are dead. Even after they are "cured" (dried) they still off-gas. I had a friend used resins to cast a larger female sculpture. The person who bought it returned it as it caused skin eczemas. They are very beautiful and tempting I know.
I am spending some time researching for non-toxic products to create a similar effect. My background included research in medical and legal areas - but I miss the NYC library where one could find older "moulage" books (casting and sculpture)
That said the artist would know or one can look this up.
I love love art I want to be this good, just learn something different 😌 nuce awesome
Hi, all right, what material is this plaster?
Did cement causes acne on face or taning
WHAT ARE THE MATERAILS TO BE USED PLZ?
very cool! Where can you use these plaster balls?
How to remove this balloon. I made 10 vases. But burst and broken. Not catch very tightly please good solution. We Sri Lanka
I remove the balloon very carefully using a sharp blade once the plaster has set and cooled. This is not an easy process. I have better luck in cooler weather. When the air and water are too warm the plaster tends to set up too quickly and then breaks. Good Luck!
@@ElyseGraham our country very hot environment. We not have cooling places our house. Not use air condition
Bellissimo, si possono avere i sottotitoli in italiano? Grazie
What r u putting inside the balloon and what paint

Yolanda Delgado can you share this please. Your work is so sweetly done
Boa sorte!
Awesome idea!!
Very good idea u shared thanku u....lot lot Iam from India Belgaum.... Karnataka.
Hi elise, do u arrange online course to learn from you ?
Unfortunately, I don't. But maybe something to consider! Thank you for asking :)
Is that white cement that you use?
Its white cement also known as plaster Paris mixed with water to make it like a glue substance then put in a balloon using a funnel or a cut plastic bottle to fit the mouth of balloon and fill it enough to cover , swirl around many times to ensure all inside is covered than let it dry for at least 24 hrs and remove balloon slowly and can lightly sand , paint and seal. you can also make it more stronger by coating the inside with more white cement mixed with PVA glue if you wish.
Stunning really! I am just curious about the masks that you wear? Are you using toxic materials? x
Hi! I wear a dust mask for the plaster and an organic vapor mask for the resin. Neither material is toxic, but both are respiratory irritants.
