Absolutely. My sentiments exactly mate. I've been here over 8 months now and I've never looked back. People said that I had rose-tinted glasses on and I'd be back in 6 months 🤣
I think you have made the right decision. You seem to be a lot more wholesome as a person. Thailand is the land of smiles as long as you are sensible with your money. Remember when you have nothing. Nobody wants to know. When you have something. Everyone wants to be your friend. Look after yourself first. Always have a rainy day fund account. Always keep smiling. 😊 😊😊😊
I like your channel as you’ve actually moved abroad, so many of these videos are from folk threatening to leave the UK. I moved abroad 30 years ago and understand your journey and I’m sure you’ll have a happy rest of your life mate.
Thinking about it, I never actually threatened to leave once, I just went quiet for a while and the next thing you know, I've left. I don't like these videos that people make about 'I'm leaving the UK' but when you watch them, they're just having a moan about it but very few people actually do it. I know it certainly takes some balls to do it! No one understands the relief that you feel once you're sitting on that plane, no one understands the feeling of total freedom that you feel over here and no one understands what life is actually like until you step outside of the western world.
I've been happily living here (Huay Yai) for nearly 9 months now. I was supposed to be starting my tour yesterday but I had to cancel because of leg pains. I'll have everything sorted for next weekend and my destination is Chaing Mai and then I'm heading to Pai :)
Cheers mate, I always appreciate your comments. I can flee the sinking ship because there's no way am I the captain. If I was, it would definitely be different and I'd have free EVERYTHING for anyone who likes on of my videos. Bring on the revolution and replace it with captain Tony at the helm 😁
Advice from a Australian who has been spending, 6-8 months a year in Thailand and Cambodia , for the last 10 years, I hope you have done your homework , and have previously travelled to Thailand, so you know what to expect
I got on a plane and flew here. I'd never been here before so I only knew what people had told me. Now I've been here for nearly 9 months and my money is still my money and not someone else's to spend, I'm fine and I will NEVER go back to the UK to live. I'm fine mate, honestly. All the scams and traps that people talk about are there but they're no worse than the ones in the UK. If you spend time learning them and then avoid them, you won't get caught 😉
When you know, you just know. I moved over here nearly 9 months ago and all my problems disappeared. They weren't replaced with a load of new problems because life is so easy over here in comparison to the UK. If you can live a simple life, it's the perfect place to be and I think I should have moved here many years ago.
Everything is planned out. All my money is wisely invested to give me a basic income (just enough to live off). I'm not going to touch that money until I get my state pension (just in case something happens) but then, I can party like it's 1999 😁
Hello tony, me and my thai wife are selling our house and moving to Thailand in the next 2-3 years.we can't decide how to invest our money .how did you invest your money to get a monthly income?any advice would be appreciated thanks mark and nok.👍
ETFs, Bonds, and Savings accounts. I did same. Make sure you have balanced portfolio and a cash amount in case of down years in the market. 3 bucket approach.
If possible preserve your capital, keep your house & rent it out. Your home is your biggest single asset & could generate a monthly income to cover living costs in Thailand. I rent two houses & have an income of £2000 pcm. If you retain UK tax status invest up to £20k in an ISA, you can get 5% pa just now. Also take a number of easy access & fixed term savings products. Do not invest at under 5%! Your age & tax status needs to be considered when investing in ETF's & Index Funds, both are longer term investments. Try to keep to keep your home, you may one day need to return should an unexpected event happen. Once it's gone, it's probably gone forever.
I've got some bad news for you mate, I've been living in Thailand for nearly 9 months now and it's the best decision I've ever made. I was suffering with situational depression and now I'm out of the situation, I haven't suffered since. Every day I wake up and open the curtains to be greeted by paradise and, for the first time in decades, I'm happy to be alive.
I moved and sold up in 2016 and never looked back.fuck the Uk im in the land of smiles.
ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON!!!!!!

Don't worry mate, I have my money and it's staying my money. Everyone thinks I've got nothing and that keeps the leeches away.
