I was referring to specifically the main conflict in the Kingdom Come storyline, specifically the juvenile reckless younger generation of heroes that Superman/The Justice League faced as an example... I could imagine The Authority being produced to appease the Snyderfans/people who for some reason still wants to see an "evil superman". The only way execs and producers understand films in an elevator pitch context is to relate it to other products they understand and saw were successful. It’s a Hollywood language that even the most independently creative have to use to give shallow, commercially minded people some form of reassurance. This was as much for the industry as it was for the fans. It’s the only way they know how to communicate ideas quickly.

The projects I'm most excited for are probably Waller, Lanterns, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, The Authority and Paradise Lost. Especially Lanterns and Supergirl which are the ones I'm most familiar with but have never been done well in television or film. Kara Zor-El has always had a darker "origin" than her cousin Kal-El, and because she lived through and witnessed the demise of her planet, she was never able to adapt or become as attached to Earth and humans as Superman. We could also say that she has anger issues and she's all about justice, whatever form that takes. If this is the Supergirl they intend to make, I'm absolutely all for it.

I'll be real bro. I don't know how you could ever complain about DC making a seperate Batman for the DCU. I understand that people feel like Batman is a bit oversaturated. But Batman is ESSENTIAL to any form of official Justice League line up. And this will be a different side of Batman than we've ever seen on the big screen. Not only will he likely be much closer to the comics Batman (in that he can do things no regular human could ever do in real life), but he'll be tackling fatherhood. I'm excited for this whole slate. The only thing I wish we'd gotten was some sort of Ezra Miller recasting announcement.

Also with supergirl the best thing about this description is that it opens up the door for to potentially become a Red Lantern or even introduce the Legion of Superheroes.

Gunn made sure to get the branding synergy out front and center. DC is owned by WB and WB owns HBO. There's a reason why Gunn mentioned elite programming comparisons ALL under the HBO banner (True Detective, Game Of Thrones, etc) instead of mentioning stuff like Andor, The Boys, Loki, etc. It seems like Gunn and Safran want to make sure people associate DC with high-level content. For the elite nerds like us, we pick through that statement asap and think about the weight of those show associations lol. But for the general audience, casual comic movie/tv watchers, and shareholders listening, that statement meant more about people going "Oh sweet, Paradise Lost could be bloody?" I need a Martian Manhunter movie An origin story, seeing the destruction of his people on Mars, losing everyone he has ever known, him being stranded on Earth, trying assimilate with the people here, overcoming all that pain and heartache, trying be a help people here only to have them be scared of him due to his looks, then becoming a detective, and finally the hero we all know. Since he’s so OP he can be a pacifist, but when he goes all out I want to see him go all out! I’d much rather have that than them nerf him.
I think what you fail to see when Gunn specifically announced what the shows would be akin to “Game of thrones but Wonder Woman” “True Detective” is because of the WB executives, the suits. He has to make some sort of tangible sense to them verbally to them and the fans as there aren’t many things going on besides writing and announcing the slate itself. He has to still politic and play nice with WB.

Overall W for DC based off this slate. Gotta see how its executed on screen though! Can't wait for a more Traditional hopeful but a still powerful Superman. Can't wait for a complete narrative in the universe, some order. 1 over arching story. No switching actors, cancelling movies, non-canon this, canon that, rushing stories (i.e. BvS story, death of superman, superman returning, darkseid, joker, manhunter) all of which lead nowhere tbh. Everything will start a new. Can't wait for Flash to reboot it all!

23:04 - 23:24 You have to be careful with starting with animated shows if they're going to be using the same actor, because then you have to find someone who actually looks like the character. Often in voice acting the person doesn't actually look like the character, especially way back when. With that being said though, there is now more of an effort to make the character look like the actual voice actor. Star Wars: Fallen Order is a classic example of this, Cal Kestis is modelling heavily on the voice actor Cameron Monaghan and they did a brilliant job. If this is the idea moving forward with movies/shows/games etc.. AND it can work properly... then I'm all for it.
If you have to products like True Detective, Game of Thrones, and Watchman then take inspiration from those products into your movies and tv series. The big thing I took away was is James Gunn’s focus on story telling. That Will separate them from Marvel. Marvel does a solid job of story telling but sometimes we excuse bad story telling to get to the bigger plot. That is the current main issue with the current DCEU is that the writing and story telling is bad. You can great action pieces but the audience isn’t invested in these characters then they will not come back to watch another film.
I'm checked out until the new stuff starts, once Aquaman 2 comes and goes, then I'll hop back on. Because I know Shazam 2, The Flash, and Aquaman 2 are from the old universe and unless they're somehow integral with the reboot, then I'll watch with interest. Otherwise I might just watch them on streaming if I'm bored

No big interest in Booster, Super Girl or Paradise Lost. The animated content is usually good, so I'm with that. I honestly think the GL detective series will probably stay earth-centric, because of budget. I think I'm most excited about the Authority and Swamp Thing.
Jon Hamm is my ideal choice as DCU Batman since we're getting Damian Robin However if they ever going back in time younger Bruce Wayne then it's Jacob Elordi.
Gunn fucked up by not intergrating Battinson into the DCU. He's young, looks the part, and has so much story potential with other heroes and fantastical stories. Also Gunn skipping 90% of the batfamily jumping straight to Damian for the DCU's Chapter One is so fucking stupid.

I need a Martian Manhunter movie
An origin story, seeing the destruction of his people on Mars, losing everyone he has ever known, him being stranded on Earth, trying assimilate with the people here, overcoming all that pain and heartache, trying be a help people here only to have them be scared of him due to his looks, then becoming a detective, and finally the hero we all know. Since he’s so OP he can be a pacifist, but when he goes all out I want to see him go all out! I’d much rather have that than them nerf him.
I think what you fail to see when Gunn specifically announced what the shows would be akin to “Game of thrones but Wonder Woman” “True Detective” is because of the WB executives, the suits. He has to make some sort of tangible sense to them verbally to them and the fans as there aren’t many things going on besides writing and announcing the slate itself. He has to still politic and play nice with WB.

Can't wait for a more Traditional hopeful but a still powerful Superman. Can't wait for a complete narrative in the universe, some order. 1 over arching story. No switching actors, cancelling movies, non-canon this, canon that, rushing stories (i.e. BvS story, death of superman, superman returning, darkseid, joker, manhunter) all of which lead nowhere tbh.
Everything will start a new. Can't wait for Flash to reboot it all!

James Gunn is good at his parody type movies. No way these shows will be like Game of Thrones, True Detective, or Watchman. He’s writing checks he can’t cash. Maybe, big maybe, by some miracle, he surprises me
he said "almost like true detective". "its almost like game of thrones" and "story thats been created by krystal henry who did watchmen". Not once did he say these shows were gonna be on the same level of those shows or exactly those shows. and one of them was just the same writer or something as watchmen ahahaha.

23:04 - 23:24 You have to be careful with starting with animated shows if they're going to be using the same actor, because then you have to find someone who actually looks like the character. Often in voice acting the person doesn't actually look like the character, especially way back when. With that being said though, there is now more of an effort to make the character look like the actual voice actor. Star Wars: Fallen Order is a classic example of this, Cal Kestis is modelling heavily on the voice actor Cameron Monaghan and they did a brilliant job.
If this is the idea moving forward with movies/shows/games etc.. AND it can work properly... then I'm all for it.

If you have to products like True Detective, Game of Thrones, and Watchman then take inspiration from those products into your movies and tv series. The big thing I took away was is James Gunn’s focus on story telling. That Will separate them from Marvel. Marvel does a solid job of story telling but sometimes we excuse bad story telling to get to the bigger plot. That is the current main issue with the current DCEU is that the writing and story telling is bad. You can great action pieces but the audience isn’t invested in these characters then they will not come back to watch another film.
I'm checked out until the new stuff starts, once Aquaman 2 comes and goes, then I'll hop back on. Because I know Shazam 2, The Flash, and Aquaman 2 are from the old universe and unless they're somehow integral with the reboot, then I'll watch with interest. Otherwise I might just watch them on streaming if I'm bored

Why do we need a black lead? Do we need an Eskimo lead? What about a Maori lead? We haven't had a native American lead. What about an Australian lead? Boomerang for example. We need a dwarf lead, a ginger lead, a disabled lead, a transexual lead... do you see? Where does it end? We just need GOOD leads, true to the comics, regardless of skin colour, sexuality, gender etc.

There isn’t much to be said in a true MMH solo movie… unless you do a raw origin movie, RIP the martians, or you do a strict character study of him meeting humanity and watching over them n crafting his opinions on humans n their society b4 presenting himself to our heroes.
Actually nvm, now that I think about it.. there’s a lot to chew on in a character study style story about a stranger from beyond who fears fire (MMH) having to come to terms with a world filled with beings who favor fire as their greatest gift (humans)

No big interest in Booster, Super Girl or Paradise Lost. The animated content is usually good, so I'm with that. I honestly think the GL detective series will probably stay earth-centric, because of budget. I think I'm most excited about the Authority and Swamp Thing.

Gunn fucked up by not intergrating Battinson into the DCU. He's young, looks the part, and has so much story potential with other heroes and fantastical stories. Also Gunn skipping 90% of the batfamily jumping straight to Damian for the DCU's Chapter One is so fucking stupid.
