Dude, Adrian was a badass. He fought in the Boer War and both World Wars, and was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; was blinded in his left eye; survived two plane crashes; tunneled out of a prisoner-of-war camp; and tore off his own fingers when a doctor declined to amputate them. He was, as the song said, pretty much unkillable. The guy managed to retire, and died peacefully at the age of 83.

Based on the name at the end, he was a lieutenant general in the British army. He was involved in the boer war, the first world War, and the second world War. The scenes you saw was in exact detail as to what happened to him. Thats why the song was called the unkillable soilder because he was the unkillable soldier back then.

Except for the part where the nurse amputated his hand. The medics insisted on saving the hand, and apparently that would have kept him off of the battlefield for to long because he chopped it off himself like an absolute mad lad when they weren’t looking.

Adrian Carton De Wairt was literally too hyped to die. When studying as a lawyer, he stated that "war was in his blood", before joining the British during the Boer War. Then, while in his 30s, he enlisted during ww1. During ww1, he had his eye blown out, his left hand mangled by a grenade which he tore his remaining fingers off with his teeth after the medic refused to amputate. He also went on to be shot at least 11 times.
After ww1, he moved to poland to help them fight the soviets, then WW2 broke out. He once again enlisted *at 61*
During ww2, he survived a plane crash and managed to escape not one, but 2 prison camps. After ww2 ended, he still took part in world afairs, including telling *MAO ZEDONG* that he hated communism to his face. He also survived a second plane crash while in China.
After all that, you'd think he died in battle? Nope. He died at his home in Ireland *at 83*

"He was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; was blinded in his left eye; survived two plane crashes; tunnelled out of a prisoner-of-war camp; and tore off his own fingers when a doctor declined to amputate them. Describing his experiences in the First World War, he wrote, "Frankly I had enjoyed the war.""
    what an absolute legend. :O

One thing about Sabaton that everyone realizes without knowing is that the reason they can evoke such strong emotions isn't because it is a real story. Rather, because they make music about heroes and heroic deeds that are real they are filling a sorely missed genera of music. We don't talk about real heroes anymore as a society, at least not like we used too. I bet the average person can't name a heroic tale based on real life from 1800s onward. So Sabaton is bringing light on those people and events that conjure up images similar to the Greek classics and the Viking eddas.

From what I gather, he later on fell of a horse and broke his back. While the surgeons were operating on his back they took the liberty to remove shrapnel they came across. Harder to kill than 50 cent, yo.

it songs like this by sabaton that keep reminding me we brits are fecking nutters when it comes to war, from Adrian carton de wiart the guy in the video) to mad jack being...well mad jack and all those that came before and after. brits love a fecking barroom brawl and war gives them the opportunity to get stuck in. seriously...you look at our special forces training videos...its professional brawling...what we learn on a drunken saturday night is incorporated into it.

Lol, its kinda ridiculous, if they made a movie about this man it would seem too unrealistic.

You really should check out Sabatons "En livstid I krig", the live version from Gothenburg. It's swedish so you'll most likely want subtitles.. but anyways, goosebumps absolutely guaranteed for that song. It's absolutely powerful and emotional. And made me learn swedish..

Much love for your Sabaton reacts.
    Please, Please, Please.
You need to react to En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg).
Its the Swedish language version of thier song A Lifetime of War.
However the POV of the song is changed by the language shift. In English it is more about the general futility of the thirty years war. But in Swedish its from the POV of an unknown soldier in the war itself.
Watch it with the subtitles and you will honestly be blown away.
