  • Part 7 of a drive from San Diego to Miami from July 27, 2023 - August 7, 2023. This part starts from El Paso, Texas and ends in Ozona, Texas. I was very surprised at how remote and isolated the Western part of Texas was, with not many people on I-10. I also passed over to Central Time during this drive.

    Sierra Blanca was a nice charming old town. Looks almost like a ghost town from an era gone by. You only get to see these when you get off the interstate.

    How pleasant it was to join you for a bit on the locals road and then the interstate, enjoying the company of others around the world, then settling once more into the cozy backseat as I finished my night's sleep on the west coast.
    The peacefulness of the driving and company is a taste of the kind of magical security and joy felt in early childhood.

    1:15:20 - 1:35:45 That was fun to see you had the whole road to yourself for a while and driving parallel next to the highway. 😂🛣 3:09:16 - 3:10:03 I guess the road took you around in circles. Who knew driving on I-10 E in Texas can be confusing. 😆 Thank you for sharing this relaxing drive, AK! 🤗

    I-10 in West Texas has several at grade road crossings where you could have gotten on the freeway much sooner. You passed at least 4 of them in the first 5 minutes after the gas station. You weren't looking for them because they are unique on the interstate system.

    El Paso's landscape is very unique if you came from the opposite direction! Don't forget to go up the hill to look at the Mexico's side! Right before you enter El Paso, you will see your right hand side is Mexico and your left side is the U.S. side. You don't see this very often.

    I'm guessing you don't use google maps for navigation. In that first town you got gas (Sierra Blanca) and then drove forever to get back on the interstate, if you had gone back on block and turned left it would have taken you right to the interstate on ramp. Only reason I know is a couple years ago I got gas at that same station and started going the way you did. But google maps navigation told me to go back the the other way to get on the highway.

    • @cag19549
      @cag19549 9 місяців тому

      He would have been better off going on to Fort Stockton. Not sure how much gas he had but if he had a full tank in El Paso the gas stop would be Fort Stockton. Then, he could see the giant roadrunner. 😊 And he wouldn't have to drive this weird route to get back on I10.

    • @ActionKid
      @ActionKid  9 місяців тому

      I did use Google Maps for navigation, it routed me on the way you see in this video which I found very strange.

      There isn't a continuous direct southern train route from CA to FL. There was part wiped out by Hurricane Katrina and never replaced for passenger trains. There might be a way to connect train lines, but it'd take forever.

    • @dennythomas8887
      @dennythomas8887 9 місяців тому +1

      @@lilli9822 nope, at least not anything even close to direct.

    • @ActionKid
      @ActionKid  9 місяців тому +1

      I don't think there's a direct route by train. One would have to take a series of connecting train routes which would take a long time.

  • @cag19549
    @cag19549 9 місяців тому

    Actually, that's a normal rest stop. Most rest stops are pretty no frills. You would only expect massive parking on routes that cater to tourists. West Texas sure isn't that. I10 through Texas is a main trucker route. It's one of the most boring interstates I've ever driven.

    El Paso is the right pronounciation like UA-cam seid all the time. There is a channel "Emma saying" and she prounces it the same war and not "El Paeso". Sometimes locals do not pronounce their own town in the right way🎉. 😂
