Our great lord of Aviation maintenance knowledge has so graciously provided us this video for our entertainment
@@Enatical you mean you local aircraft wrench 🤙 enjoy
@@StigAviation keep these coming when you can....i love watching these
Stig, seriously, my friend. I've never been so fascinated with a toilet. How are you doing this!!!??? I am seriously loving this level of detail again Stig, with the diagrams, schematics and explanations. This is what we're here for and your videos really really are special and your channel is by far the best aviation channel on UA-cam!!
i agree
I can’t thank you enough for the kindness and beautiful fascination you have with Aviation. I’m glad I can show you everything I know.
I couldn't be more grateful too, my friend. Absolutely brilliant, I'm learning so many things that are both filling gaps in my knowledge and a heck of a lot of new knowledge, too. I couldn't wish for a better channel, to me, and I'm sure many, many others, it's the perfect channel.
@@KevWitt3455 it’s the calm voice, imagine if he was ok every aircraft to explain things to passengers. 😂
Well, I have good news. I went to my oncologist and he said there is no need to put me through post surgery chemo and declared me pretty much cancer free! Now, I'm still recovering from my three major surgeries (over 24 hours worth, cumulative) and cant do a whole lot yet.
I cannot even express you how happy that makes me. You beat cancer, my friend and you are the strongest that you will ever be. Get yourself well exercise and eat well. Life is a beautiful thing.
💪🏻💪🏻
Take a victory flight !
@@baomao7243 I'd love to, but the prices are pretty crazy. Can't fly on a small one (introduction flight i think it's called) as I have to use a wheelchair or walker for the time being.
@@baomao7243 I'd love to, unfortunately it'll cost a lot of money plus I need to use a wheelchair or walker for the time being. Maybe when I can walk unassisted again. But on the other hand there's always MSFS lol.
All I have to say is don't you EVER!!!! EVER EVER EVER!!!!!!!
say it's boring EVER again !!!!
If aviation and the love of these marvels of engineering is in your blood, I don't care how many times you point out EVERYTHING!!! I love it!!
Sorry about the all CAPS!!Lmao!! Seriously though, I love every second of it.. Its amazing to see normal people, well I guess everyone is normal in their own way..
My normal is loving every second about what these amazing machines are and where they started up to where they are now.. Its absolutely amazing and beautiful... Until you are in hour 9 of a redeye transatlantic circling Heathrow for almost 2 hours due to a tailwind waiting for the airport to open.. Other than that... Hell to the yes..
Love your posts. Please be safe and keep them coming..
Thank you so much Robert, thank you for these incredible kind words. It means a lot to me. 🫂

Go speed racer go! LOL. Hope you have a fun 4th of July 🇺🇸
Thank you very much my friend, happy Fourth of July
Let’s goooooo!!! What’s up Stig?! Thank you for posting the best content on UA-cam.
My pleasure!! Thank you for being here and enjoying it Wyatt
Thank you, Stig, for bringing every one of us along for the ride! 🫡
😃👍
It’s my pleasure. Thank you for being here
Like myself you will probably not want to retire. You gotta love Aviation!❤ 35 yrs. A&P CAL/UAL here.
You can bury me under the ramp Let me die happy with jet fuel and skydrol in my blood. I’m aviation and aviation is me. That is all 👌
Hey I just wanted to say that I really appreciate that you do these. I really enjoy watching them. Thank you.
I appreciate that Mark. Thank you for being here
Stig, I can't thank you enough for taking us along on your adventures every week. Aviation is me. It's not only my passion, but I could spend all my life around these beautiful metal birds. I appreciate you and every single individual dedicated to keeping them in the air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Hey Stig, just wanted to let you know I love watching your videos. They're super informative for the avgeek that I am, but also I love showing these to my wife, who is a very nervous flyer and worries all the time about aircraft safety. These definitely help explain things to her that she doesn't understand, and do definitely help her feel better. Just wanted to thank you for all the work you put into these!
It’s my absolute pleasure, and tell the wife if she has any questions not to hesitate to ask. I’m always here to help.
Unironically Stig sees more exotic cars than most salesmen working at a supercar dealership. PS: The red modern car is a Ferrari 296 GT3. Aaaand congrats, youre one of the first people in the US seeing the new Porsche 992.2 (Facelift, the green one) in real life
Wait, is that a special Porsche? I knew there was something different about that one.
@@StigAviation Its the brand new facelift of the 911. Minor cosmetic changes and a hybrid drivetrain. Pretty special at this time as it was reveiled just a few weeks ago
Slow and steady wins the race ,very true .
Always true and will forever be true, life takes patience, much like anything else

My pleasure James. Thank you for being here
Happy 4th Stig.. You are an inspiration to many. Your work saves lives on a daily basis.
Thank you for the incredibly kind words. Happy Fourth of July.
The way you enjoy your job so much is really nice to watch and feels so refreshing. Don't stop what you're doing, it's truly great
Yay maintenance! I was on a flight a few weeks ago on a 777, pilot came over the intercom and said we were delayed because a delaminated brake was discovered on walkaround. I thought it was neat because I (kinda sort of) knew what was involved in replacing/fixing it).
Hopefully they got that fixed and you guys flew out safely.
@@StigAviation No problems. 45 minutes or so and off we went.
I'm an engineer who works for American Airlines...thank you so much for taking time to produce these videos! I really find them fascinating since we don't usually get the AMT perspective at our job. It's really hard to visualize the aircraft systems just by reading the manuals and there's not a lot of great content to give an actual perspective of what some of these procedures entail, so I find your content extremely useful and helpful for my job! Again, thanks for all you do and keep it up!
PS, I used to work for ABX Air as well, so every time I see an ABX plane in your videos, I get a little nostalgic because I used to work on those planes before I came to AA!
Hope all is well Stig
Even if you hosted plane spotting I’d still watch. So let’s see some cool aircraft’s
Thank you so much Dave
100% agree Stig, slow and steady wins the race! My snap-on ratcheting screwdriver is the first aerospace tool I ever bought! Worth every penny with how many fasteners get removed and installed over the years. 🙂
get your coffee and jacket ready, bois. IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER STIG SHIFT
Time for fun and adventure 🙌🙌🙌
Another great video Stig, interesting to see where the water service panel is. Always cool to see the 747 a beautiful aircraft and thanks for the 777 take off my favourite airliner to photograph. Till next time stay safe my friend
Even within the first ten minutes of this video it simply amazes me how complex airplanes are. So many parts that work together that i didnt know existed until watching your videos.
Q: On ~10% of flights, I get hit by kerosene (Jet A/A1) or combustion fumes in the cabin. Is this from ground equipment exhaust running next to an air intake, bad design, or some sort of mistake at startup?
Thank you for the gorgeous video shots, narration, information, and video editing on top. It looks like a metric ton of fun, maximum variety, and plenty of exercise. I hope you get some sort of organizational or trade advocacy performance review credit for doing this, because it indirectly provides a benefit to the industry and your shop in particular. 🙏
The smell that you are getting is fumes from the outside that sometimes get ingested by the air conditioning system. It’s a normal occurrence when the aircraft is on the ground.
Yay!! Stig has uploaded his awesome video!! Let the adventure begin!! Wait need popcorn to go with this video!! Woohoo!
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@StigAviation always do Stig! I always catch something new when I watch the UA-cam video!
@@StigAviation it’s always an experience to re-listen to all the stories in this format. It never gets old. 😊
Stig... you're a master instructor, first time someone explained nice and easy how aircrafts toilets work. I knew it is connected to the outside of the plane for a vacuum effect! Thanks a lot. 😊
@@AVantinfluencer my pleasure. Glad it was helpful
You sir, have motivated me to become an airline mechanic! I'm pursuing school next year! Happy July 4th!
I’m an apprentice B1 AME here in Scotland and your videos are best kept secret on impressing my bosses. Love your videos a lot id like to be as knowledgeable as you one day 🤞
Big beautiful thank you!
Hello Stig. Iv'e been into Aviation ever since my Brother got me hooked on it way back in my youth. Now in my 60s i'm still amazed by the info you show that i didn't even know about so i always look forward in seeing your videos each week, Keep up the good work.
I was just watching the last episode again, and it was beautiful to see a new episode! yes the A380 makes everything else including 777 and A350 look small
Seriously, a flying building 😅
Hey my favorite Stig break rider is back, makes me happy! Oh my gosh, I am truly amazed at the close tolerance of the turbine fan blades, the perfection excites me! When it comes to pesky turds, they all gotta get flushed down, yes sir! Lovely cargo, but I will skip the mustard yellow, I rather embrace the red. lol Now here this, the lavatories shall be clean, and the trash covers shall return to their upright position, and then we can thrust to TOGA. LOL! Life is always good, when we are brought miracles into our lives like Stig Shift. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for being the humanity I wish to see. Great video!
These videos are the best thing about Thursdays. Thank you!
I’m glad you’re enjoying it. Thank you for watching.
Thanks for explaining the slide mechanics!
My pleasure, I’m glad you enjoyed it
Those round MIL-DTL-D38999 wiring connectors used everywhere look cool and they're super rugged, but they're not cheap. There are dozens of variants, depending on pin count, size, and coupling type, but a typical connector costs about $100 or so. Then the cable that plugs into it needs a matching D38999 connector on each end. When I see behind one of the panels that has dozens of cables going to the different LRUs, each one carrying I'm guessing mostly a mix of power, ground, ARINC 429, and discretes (on/off signals), the cost of just the connectors adds up.
I remember Stig asking in an older video why Boeing and Airbus started using the multipoint ARINC 629 bus, but then switched to a mix of AFDX aka ARINC 664 (custom Ethernet derivative) for the backbone, plus the old ARINC 429 still used extensively, and I suspect it's because ARINC 429 is cheap to implement and universal, even though you pay for it in the weight and cost of all those wires and connectors. Apparently a bug in the AFDX switch used in the Boeing 787 is the reason why the FAA ordered Boeing 787 operators to power cycle them every 51 days to prevent "several potentially catastrophic failure scenarios" due to unfiltered stale data if you leave the Common Data Network running longer than that. That's a type of failure that you'll never see with ARINC 429 because it's so very simple. Also, you can't have hundreds of AFDX devices due to the cost of the AFDX switches.
I suspect CAN FD will become for avionics what ARINC 629 tried to be because it's cheap and has worked so well in cars.
This was a very incredible and detailed explanation. Well done my friend. Well done. 👍
Love the vertically challenged overhead compartment closer 😂 Better than my 6'3" self who's usually ducking. I feel like a giant in anything Embraer or a CRJ lol. Awesome adventures as always, Stig 🤙☕️

The potable water panel…..the RV world NEEDS this….our stock options are not that great 😂😂😊
That Ferrari looks like a Ferrari 296 Challenge if im not mistaken they are used for Client Racing and Ferrari ships them across the World with Mechanics and the whole shabang for their Clients to race in them.
Loved the Video Stig, as always !
Thank you for another fascinating video. I have recommended your channel to my granddaughter as she is interested in a career in aircraft maintenance, and has always had a talent for fixing things from a young age. I will encourage her to investigate what training is available here in the UK.
The 757 is great someone has a nice 757 there is a good youtube video about his 757 and it's crew.
Very nice. I’ll have find that
Ever since watching one of Stig’s other videos talking about the lavatory and his advice of taking the extra second to wipe the counter around the sink, I’ve done the same when I fly. One of the many things that’s stuck with me from his videos. 😊
Thank you so much for doing that, trust me flight attendance, and mechanics appreciate that. And hopefully your fellow passengers will appreciate it as well.
Qatar Royal family has a 777 as well and that a330 is so damn clean. Even the wheels are clean lol.
That’s right, I completely forgot about the 777. Thank you for reminding me.
boeing should have keep the 757 its an amazing aircraft and thanks for keeping aviation safe!!
I wholeheartedly agree
In the last video we got the air start cart from Rheinmetall, in this video we got a garbage bin (45:03) from DIEHL. I only knew them as DIEHL Defence, but apparently they also have DIEHL Aviation which supplies civil aircrafts... Greetings from Germany, I love your videos!
Even not being an exciting shift, you managed to gather a lot of knowledge and information to pass on. That's the best and easiest way towards the evolution for everyone. Thank you very much for that.
I am very happy you enjoyed it, thank you so much for watching
MOM! STIG DROPPED A NEW VIDEO🎉
Bring the popcorn 🍿
Another amazing video from my friend @Stigaviation. Very interesting to see inside the aircraft's internal panels. If it weren't for maintenance, aviation wouldn't work. Thank you for this video! And never forget: cargo never disappoints! Amazing cars.💸💸😂
Many thanks Giorgi
Ohhh its gonna be a good night! Time to gain some knowledge. Thanks Stig!
Thank you for being here. Cheers

Whenever I open up UA-cam and I see a new Stig Shift I always know I'm not going to bed until late
Right!! I it's was 3am when I got the new Stig vid notification and was just about to go to bed. Which so totally is not happening now!!

wow i didnt know they made a GT3 edition of that car amazing, also that 911 is the new one looks cool but they don't have the analogue gauge no more :(
@@0sus yup the Ferrari 296 GT3 is the predecessor to the Ferrari 488 GT3.
@@PastorBedTime yep i do know that, but that car in the video doesn't look like a 296 GT3, I thought 296 GT3 Edition and the 296 GT3 are different cars, The one in the video is a 296 Ferrari Challenge car.
I didn’t even know they had a GT3. Well, I learned something new, thank you so much.
@@0sus it looked like it had the aero of the 296 GT3 car. idk i could be wrong but it does look like the GT3 car just red cause it looked like had the GT3 stuff inside too. But like i said i could be wrong.

Admirable!!❤
I spent 40 years working corporate aviation as both Maintenance and Piloting. Never had the opportunity to work the big iron.
I’m quite impressed with the lengths Boeing and Airbus seem to go through to make many tasks easier to do. Dropping the cockpit overhead panel as simply as you did, wow. It is quite the chore on a Gulfstream and I never would have done it with power on.
Corporate aviation aircraft are so much more complicated and complex than these jets. It honestly surprises me
Nice explanation about slide operation but you didn’t mention that the Airbus doors are powered open in auto which is more dangerous if outside initially than the slide, hit by the door then squashed by the slide. On 737’s the crew need to push the door open to deploy the slide. Another bit of trivia from the past, on the initial 747’s the slides inflated as soon as the door opened, after several instances around the world of slides inflating in the aerobridge when cabin crew opened the door without disarming the door. The slide was modified so that the slide dropped 18inches before inflation is initiated, post mod if the door is opened in auto the door is powered open and the slide flops out into the aerobridge but no inflation. On the subject of inflating items, in the mid 70’s Qantas had an incident while in maintenance when a 40 man life raft inflated in its ceiling stowage. Caused lots of damage to the overhead structure. Shows how long ago, before slide rafts were first used. Another excellent informative episode, good info on equip cooling.
You’re absolutely correct, I did not talk about the door assist bottle, and that it will engage and swing that door open on the airbus. Thank you so much for being here and watching and for all the incredible information you put down right here.
Stig!!!!OMG Speed Racer, I spent my childhood watching this. Thanks for sharing this with us 😀😀🚗🚗✈️✈️✈️✈️

Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff."
That’s a great movie, I need to watch that again.

You may want to talk about the rules about driving on the air port and the clearances from ground control, airport markings and the like. I was working on the ASOS at ALB (Albany NY) airport and asking for clearance to leave the ASOS site. It was apparent someone had a stuck mic on the ground control frequency. I called the tower directly to a recorded phone and asked for clearance. The controller gave me the clearance on the phone to drive on the runway and I found the stuck mic on a snow plow working the terminal non controlled part of the apron, The guy driving the plow was not paying any attention to the ground control radio in his truck because he was working on the non controlled apron. 🤓
Thank you for the suggestion, I’ll definitely look into that and try to make a section of one of my videos talking about the markings on the airport and driving roads

As usual Stig - excellent video - that's one cool ferrari .. The porsche wasn't badly either - very sleek looking.. how many gallons of oil does one of those aircraft takes?
It depends on the type of engine, and the capacity of that engine tank. For example the GE90-115B engine oil tank capacity is 26.5 liters.
my favorite the mighty Boeing 747 👍
As of June 2023, only 40 Boeing 747s were flying on nearly 30 routes worldwide. However, the 747 is being retired by many airlines in favor of more modern and efficient jets. US airlines got out of the B747 business years ago. Operating costs are too high and it will kill an airline in the off season.
