What’s unfortunate even black celebs are complicit. They’ll hype up nonblack kids doing dances by black content creators for more mainstream appeal. So it’s not just an issue of the platform, it’s a societal issue where black people offer entertainment inspiration but not proper compensation and recognition, it’s a tale as old as time.
I completely sympathize with the black content creators frustratrion but I’d suggest that they stop creating the content for others to copy.

The frustration is understanding, but the creators need to remember that we need to LOOK for black creators, SHARE black creators, and SUPPORT black creators.

And new black people I've never seen before still pop up on my UA-cam
So it's nothing wrong with the algorithm, in my opinion. People will watch who they want to watch. Mine is majority black people. 🤷🏾♀️

Yea my recommendations are definitely 90% black content creators on youtube and if it works the same on Tik Tok then those same white consumers are likely consume mostly white content creators unless they as individuals venture out. So it means the Algorithm is working as it should. But I do notice every other month I get suggestion for video of Jake Paul or James Charles which is weird af and I quickly make it known I'm not interested in that content and don't see it again. So they do sneak other things in that are unrelated yet it's up to the consumer to determine if they want to continue with that type of content.

Solution(s)...first boycott, as you’re now doing, you’re not getting paid for it anyway and neither should anyone else. Second, CREATE YOUR OWN PLATFORM and secure each creators’ ideas using INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAWS under the category of artistic works. Next, use an algorithm to track views and songs attached to the content; which btw is already being used. In that scenario, everyone is paid...including the artist whose song is being used. If a violation occurs AND YOU KNOW IT WILL...sue that thot arse...hard...make it bounce!! It will create a long-reaching system of checks and balances across the board. Companies won’t be able to endorse the non creators without providing a percentage to the creator(s). Boycotting is great but follow through is the only thing that matters. Black coders DO EXIST. Black entertainment lawyers DO EXIST. The copyright laws are available to the public and are plainly written. No excuses. Get on it. Make it hurt!

I'm a half Filipino on Tik Tok try doing my own dances to get credit and haven't got attention and credit for so long . I am happy for them getting credits and also I do give credits when I do dances but sometimes I forgot who made it
You have to credit the source everytime. It might take a few minutes extra or require some help but you can find the source on youtube, reddit and instagram media and comment sections. There's no excuse. Also, check out @fanbaseapp_ which pays content creators. Just heard about it today

The old saying "It takes a village to raise a child" seemed to apply here. I like Tik Tok and learn so much about many things. From cooking to Driving Simi trucks. I also feel a sense of belonging unlike Twitter and other social media. As an older Tik Tok, I also found myself as "the old wise man". Many of these kids do not understand or have that support coming from their level. I also found other ppl from my own generation that we share many things from culture to whatever. I don't do the dancing but I do share a good laugh when it's funny and many of the news you find on the air anywhere is on Tik Tok first most times.

I think a huge problem is how the app functions in the first place. with the way it’s this open source, random viral platform, I think a lot of people don’t think about the dance itself and who the creator is, they’re just partaking in a trend and I know it can be so hard to trace back who the actual original creator was. Do I think they should get credit? Absolutely, obviously but I’m also just sort of curious people claiming it was intentional theft. What’s a better way to protect content creators and their work because the way these apps function, like I said they thrive on these random viral trends, it’s very open source and the dances can take on a life of their own.
