- After 10+ long years of nostalgia, waiting, and grasping onto old versions, minecraft's most popular mod of all time, the Aether, has finally returned with it's first official release since 2012. The Aether dev team has been hard at work porting it to modern minecraft, and you can now play the minecraft aether mod in 1.20. Not only that, but there are future plans for the aether mod!

Considering how less well known Aether II is to the general public, I would suggest to the Aether team to retroactively add all the things from Aether II into the first and label it Aether 1.5 as a way to combine the two together. If anyone from the Aether team reads this, it's so you don't have an Everquest problem. Plus, it means a bigger and better mod as well. And hey, with something like Aether 1.5 being a thing Mojang and Kingbdogz won't be able to ignore it for much longer. Especially with copycats apparently popping up in the Bedrock marketplace.

We'll be doing an addon for this Aether remaster that ports a lot of features from the 1.7 version of Aether II, and future versions of Aether II will also be made more compatible with the original mod. So yeah if you want "Aether 1.5" you'll be able to download an addon to basically achieve that once it's released.
The addon will be titled Aether Genesis and should release some time this year

@@OscarPaynHoly crap, someone from the Aether team read this! Anyway, good to know. My other name for Aether 1.5 was Aether+ since it would be the original along with many new additions. Aether Genesis sounds good too though, but if you want to steal my name suggestion go for it.
Mojang doesn’t want to add the Aether because they saw how much work the devs put into it and that causes them immense fear
yet they steal other mod creations all the time...

It is crazy how the Aether wastly outshadowed the Nether for so many years.
I had no idea this was happening and because i never even touched pc minecraft till 2013 this excites me because i'll be able to experience what many others did over a decade ago.

I remember watching tobuscus play this mod way back in the day and just being awe struck by what the mod was able to do which NO ONE can deny was a MONUMENTAL leap for what mods for ANY game could do. There truly was nothing like it back then
Imagine Toby going back and playing the Aether just like the old times will be such a nostalgic trip to memory lane.
It and Divine RPG were insanely ahead of their time.

Hi Ryan, damn 10 years ??? I remember watching my favorite UA-camr venom extreme playing I feel old, I was so impressed by this mod when I was a kid, and obviously I tried to build the aether portal

welp, looks like I got a new mod to play around with! I never could get the mod to work back when i was a kid, so this will genuinely be my first time playing this mod

very good video, tho im kinda sad that you didn't point out the updated textures for the mod
a few things to note here: the bosses are actually easier than their b1.7.3 counterparts, the slider was stupidly fast and only experienced pvp players could deal with it easily, now it has less health and less speed, it is still challenging though it now tests how ready you are in terms of progression rather than skill.
the aether team is also working on porting to fabric, and i'm incredibly excited!
dang, I struggled so much more on this version!! maybe I'm just too used to old combat :)

@@PaladinRyan Your real issue was eating garbage food, those gingerbread cookies have no saturation. The better the food source the less you have to constantly lose time nomming in combat and the more your character can passively heal. Returning with golden carrots/melons/apples or even just steak and trying again will be a huge decrease in frustration.
The aether is just an expansion pack really. Normally I only install mods to improve the vanilla feel to the game and not add new stuff to it.... but with aether I make an acception

haha I remember being like 10yo trying to make the portal, ended up being disappointed it didn't work
They actually had made a few versions for stuff like Fabric 1.14, but they've buried it since, because it was UNBELIEVABLY buggy. Trees in the overworld would immediately and constantly lose their leaves, upon other bugs.
I remember trying Aether II, it lagged so bad that when I entered the dimension, I wasn't counting frames per second, but *seconds per frame.* It took a whole minute just to look to my left. Needless to say I was frustrated and just stuck with Aether Legacy.
Have you checked the ReIndev? its pretty amazing mod likes its an alternate Minecraft experience

I loved the aether, back when yogscast, captensparkles, popular mmo, and all the un named small youtubers we watched as kids and forgot there names. I miss it all so so much... it was truly a core memory and I'm so glad to see it return.
I still think that Aether should be in basegame minecraft.
