  • Fix your tight hamstrings with this! 🐘
    Elephant walks are one of the best exercises you can do to improve your hamstring flexibility because:
    🔹they stretch the physical muscle of the hamstring
    AND
    🔸they release tension in the sciatic nerve
    The sciatic nerve runs down the whole back line of your leg, and is often the culprit of FEELING like your hamstrings are stiff and tight when actually what you’re feeling is tension in this nerve!
    So Elephant Walks 🐘 are great because not only are you stretching the muscle, but you’re also desensitising this nerve which gives you the feeling that you can’t go any further. When in fact you can!

    What if I feel the stretch only in my calves and can’t come close to having stomach touch hamstrings because everything is so tight

      Try keeping your legs straight, soft knees but not bent and bend over keeping your torso straight. Like a deep bow. You should feel it in your hammies! Eventually you might get deep enough to touch your toes / the floor or blocks.

    I tried this and my back and thighs got so tight I couldn't bend over at all the next day until I walked round the block.

    Just tried this and....
    Can't even get the one leg to straighten at all😂
    I'll keep at it though.

    Also, tight hamstrings could be from people using sneakers that have an elevated heal. My lengthened more easily when I swapped to a minimalist shoe with zero drop. 😊

      How long did it take you? Did you stretch daily? I know everyone is different. I started stretching 1 week ago daily, waiting for that day of my accomplishment

    I tried this. This stretched my hammies tremendously. Even without doing the alternatong leg thimg lol.
