I'm very touched at the sentimentality of decor in the man cave. It's sweet. When you find your "soulmate" or whatever you want to call them, it's special. That's awesome that your man cave has reminders of your journey with Sam as well as a bunch of really cool nerd stuff. 😊

I don't get jealous easily. That TV really did it though. I hear the words "LG..." I'm like psh so? Then you say, "65 inch" and I'm like, "mine's a 60, so what?" then you say, "OLED" and I got lightheaded. I'm fucking pissed. So I pretty much hate you now. You'll have to review Nightmare Before Christmas this coming holiday season to make it up to me. it BETTER be good!
pewol Nah, that didn't do it for me. 4K doesn't really do anything for me either. 1080p is plenty good for me. (for now) OLED is amazing to me. That's what I want. I have a plasma which is pretty comparable. I am just waiting on the price to go down on OLED. I care way more about the colors and contrast than the resolution. I disagree with Chris about film grain. I turn off everything on my TV that "helps" the image. All that shit is nonsense to me and is a waste of someones time for having come up with the technology.

I'm surprised that he is using a soundbar, instead of a good 5.1 speaker setup. The sound is half of the movie experience.

Watch some classic Criterion Collection films on Bluray on that big screen. Personal recommendations: Seven Samurai, Sword of Doom, Tokyo Story, The Red Shoes, Seventh Seal, Black Narcissus, Modern Times, Paths of Glory, Harakiri.

***** It never hurts to get some classic cinema under your belt, particularly if you're pursuing a career as a film critic.
+brian0918 Agreed , but on the last Blu-ray update it seemed like most of his collection were modern films. Maybe he just doesn't like the technological disabilities of classic cinema or doesn't like the aesthetic filmic look.
My personal Criterion recommendations by the way (others than those mentioned): Blow Out, Don't Look Now, The Killing, Foreign Correspondent, Scanners and The Brood.
+brian0918 You're right, those movies are cinema perfection (especially Tokyo story) and the criterion blu rays look spectacular, I have a 2013 sony full hd, so I can only imagine how those movies would look in an oled 4k XD

Love the 'man cave' :) This the the type of one I hope to have in the near future. My parents owned an old movie theatre and I also feel the nostalgia for theatre memorabilia. We still have the old 40's freestanding popcorn machine. The LED lighting down the stairs is a great touch. Also, amazing tv dude

I myself have a hard time with buying and finding all of those collection gems specially in my country and situation, but i still find it exciting whenever it comes to the idea of setting up yourself a "Man Cave" by yourself. Thanks Chris for sharing this.

Spirited Away is my all time favourite! My dad showed me that movie when I was in kindergarten, and I've watched it for like a hundred times! I'll just always hold dear to this movie, I actually visited 宫崎骏's (the director) museum when I was in Tokyo, I got a natural high visiting that museum❤️

chris is so awesome, he seems like someone that you could just talk movies or games with and go as in depth as you want, but if you had limited knowledge of the subject hed still be super nice to you and wouldn't be condescending or mean about his superior knowledge and would just be happy to talk with you about cool entertainment.

There used to be a HUGE store on Pier 39 in San Francisco where they sold those Halloween themed miniatures your wife has. She would've gone crazy in the place as that was *half* of the store! The other half was of Christmas themed miniatures and the like.

Zen Razor I disagree. The plot is all over the place and the character development is eeeeeeh. From childhood view its fun to watch but being objectively critical its not great.

Chris, I wish you could make the time to finish phantom pain, but I understand why you didn't. I put roughly a hundred hours into the game to get the complete story, but I have a lot of time on my hands, so that didn't bother me. I hope you're eventually able to get through it, I'd love to here your thoughts on the ending. It was controversial, but as a major MGS fan, I thought it worked. Jeremy Jahns did a pretty detailed review of the game, and he liked the ending and the game as a whole quite a bit once he completed the important parts.
