I believe his parodies are classic, and naturally outlive whatever music trends come along. He's highly intelligent with a sense of the absurd which, for lack of a better word, has deemed him "Weird Al" Yankovic. I've been a fan since his earliest days on the Dr. Demento radio show. Sunday nights on KMET? That part is a bit fuzzy, but I looked forward to hearing his newest recordings. He's really bent in the best way possible.
Kurt Cobain said that when Weird Al reached out for permission to parody a Nirvana song, only then did it finally dawn on him that his band had made it.

I was thinking the same thing. I saw maybe 1 spot getting out of the elevator where they might have been able to splice in 2 shots, but otherwise very well done.
This is filmed in one continuous shot. The person operating the camera needs some credit for an amazing job.
Not to mention that this had to be done multiple times before they achieved what we now know as the official music video. You should see the side-by-side-by-side-by-side of their four most successful attempts to get the video just right.
They did six takes and Al had to run down 5 flights of stairs and change his clothes to appear at the start and end of the video..

Saw him live in Concord NH. The show started, and a video was projected on stage, it was a continuous shot of weird al dancing and singing in an alleyway, walking down a hallway than onto a stage, as he walked on stage on the tv, it was revealed it was being filmed live, as Al walked on the stage in front of us with his camera crew. What a performance
He did that for every venue on that tour. It was super cool. Oh, to have been a straggler in the lobby on that day! He came into the theatre from the lobby at our show, walked right through the audience up to the stage!
The single take nature of the video is fun enough on its own, but the addition of all these performers coming in and bringing their best makes this easily one of my favorite, if not my absolute favorite, Wierd Al videos.
Definitely one of my favorites, but every time I think it could be my favorite-favorite, I remember the Amish Paradise video where he lip-synchs backwards. 🤣

Incredible. It was an honor to meet Weird Al when I was very young, hung out with him back stage and got some great pictures. A genuinely kind and humble human being. His respect for other artists and the respect he is shown in return speaks volumes. This video is hilarious, every production is always top notch. He continues to be my favorite comedy parody performer of all time. Just incredible! Every damn time!!

My friend Kevin is a KJ and a bit of a hometown hero who looks a lot like Weird Al. Every year Al performs at the OC Fair, and Kevin always goes to see him.
Several years ago, people kept coming up to Al at the fair and saying "hey Kevin, is that you?" Eventually he bumped into Kevin, and immediately recognized him as The Imposter. He told him "this is the first time I've ever been recognized in public as someone other than me!"
They got a selfie together, made Kevin's day, it was awesome. Al is such a good sport and one of the kindest people in the music industry.

I realize this is probably a joke, but if it isn’t: there’s probably dozens of hidden camera shots hidden in the video. For example 1:36, the elevator doors closing were probably a camera cut, that was made seamless with the previous cut

It was so fun. You all know who was in it… all the great celebrity friends that I’ve got… it was just amazing. At one point, Kristen Schaal turned to me and she said, “I hope we get to do this all day long.”
It was six takes. And we used the sixth take, although takes five and four and three were all great, too, it was kind of hard to… maybe at some point Nerdist will put up take five or some kind of alternate take so you can see some of the other stuff.
It was, in fact, one continuous shot… believe me, it was one continuous take. And for every single take, as soon as the camera was off me, I had to run as fast as I could down five flights of stairs (because the elevator was being used) while changing my clothes so I could hit my mark and be there at the end of the video.
Jack Black killed. If you think that was the only take that was good - every single take, he was, like, clicking his heels above his head… amazing, amazing energy. And he wouldn’t even take the elevator back up, he was, like, “No, I’m gonna jog up the stairs every time!”
ah right so its confirmed as being one take. Few opportunities to break it up so I always wondered.

I don't know if that's true, but Jack Black said that his fanny pack was a last minute decision. One of the crew had it, and he grabbed it from them because he thought it would be perfect. And he was so right. That's some comic gold.

@@juliabigger9704 I dunno if it's ridiculous, to be honest with you it's as if Weird Al has foreshadowed the ghouls that take selfies at various accidents (sometimes with death involved as if it's some sideshow attraction for them to gain publicity from.
