Thanks for this video! I purchased one for my motorhome to use in conjunction with my Blink security system when parked in storage. After just a couple of days in operation the unit would keep turning off on its own even though it was plugged in to a USB charger full time. I removed the battery as you described in your video and problem solved! Appears the unit is trying to prevent the device from over charging, kills the USB power, then drains the battery until its dead, which then turns off the unit. Appreciate the tip in your video for solving my problem.
I want to add something . This device is great, but it does have a overheating issue with continuous use, which as a safety causes the battery to cease charging. Well, the battery charging is a big part of the overheating so removing it will also help that issue if this is a primary device for home internet. Mine got so hot that I began having huge ping spikes, and upload speeds crashed. Removed the battery, it runs cooler, and no issues!

I have an MR1100 and also an LB1120. For use as a home internet solution I think that LB1120 is a better choice for most people. The LB1120 seems to have slightly better wireless data reception when the signal is only "fair". In those cases the LB1120 can actually be faster on a 4G connection even though the LB1120 does not have the fancy carrier aggregation and 4x4 MIMO that the MR1100 does. However, if you have a strong 4G signal, or you have external MIMO antennas plugged in, the MR1100 is typically much faster. Another big advantage that LB1120 has it that it can be mounted remotely and powered via PoE or with DC voltage and it will always come up turned on if you lose power to it. With the LB1120, just leave the power switch in the ON position and it always comes up when power is restored. The MR1100 does not lend itself to remote installation (such as in a box on an antenna mast) because it must be manually turned on when power goes off and is then restored.
James, when describing the USB-A port, you didn't mention its use for network storage. I use a thumb-drive on the router and I can share files between computers using the administration app. I haven't tried it, but it might take real hard drives via the USB-A port.
James, great video! I was wondering what steps I need to take to get this hooked up to my existing router. I don’t want to use the built in one as the range does not cover my home. Can’t get the Ethernet port to communicate with my tp-link. Can it be done?
There is a mod for this router where you can get 4x4 mimo with external antennas. It does require drilling holes in the case though. I've seen the kit on Ebay for it.
Whenever I take the battery out, it shows that it has LTE signal, but I can't access the internet from any of my devices. They will connect momentarily and then disconnect again. Is there some setting that I need to change in order to use it without the battery?
Can i plug a usb dongle in the usb as i have 2 sim cards and i alternate between the two as one is unlimited and one has a data cap. Or will i have to keep switching sim cards in and out of the nighthawk
Thank you for the review. If i connect the device via the USB-C port to my 2017 MacBook Pro, will that form a wired internet connection between the laptop & the device?
You basically mention all the features that people should ALREADY know about. You didn't mention that it has 2 external TS-9 Antenna jacks (2 Black rubber bars near the USB and Ethernet Ports) so you can hook up outdoor external antennas to a pole and get perfect signal which is ideal if you are going to use this primarily for home internet. You also didn't mention that you can use the hotspot to charge other devices (Which is one of the reasons for the big battery) and finally you didnt mention that you can use it to share files via plugging a USB Flash drive to the Hotspot.
I just got mine today, and I did not know that those were antenna ports. I just thought they were simply rubber stands to set the modem vertically. This thing is incredible!
Terry I Unlimitedville is a great option and a good choice for solo home plans. Last time I checked they have a contract in place that does not have the regular limits of mvnos. Just keep an eye from time to time on their contracts.
James Mccorn with all this net neutrality crap going on it's a foregone conclusion. I just hooked up an old D-Link router to the LAN port and it actually functions
thats $$$$$ they want $99-$250!! depending on what carrier u go with...if ur going use att why not buy a "car connect" hotspot plan on ebay, u can place the SIM into any hotspot and use it...i pay $20 for the plan and i get unlimited no throttle no caps using a unite explore...i use about 70GB or so depends on how much 4k streaming i watch, then i use it to swap files from my work to my home..best deal out there!!
The AT&T rep at my local store told me all about these features before I bought it, so I'm not sure how "hidden" they are. You got me though. I clicked. I watched. You win. Gj playa.
I have a AT&T bundel at home. Can i use this Nighthawk to replace my wifi modem? Will AT&T let me replace their wired in modem with the Nighthawk? My goal is to be able to take the Nighthawk out as a portable wifi whenever i leave the house for my phone. The only home devices i have connected is a Google home mini, laptop and my TV.
Recently, I followed your directions & was informed that my nighthawk was not a good website & not to put anything into it! Kept warning that it may have been hacked! What can I do about that? I've reset it 3 times now!
i'm currently using the unite explore for our fixed, home internet service, and have been reasonably happy with it. speed wise, i'm getting (on average) 15 down and 5 up. do you think the nighthawk will improve on that?
Hi Wayne, if you have the Unite Explorer you should be good for another 2 years. When At&T deploys 4x carrier bonding tech and upgrades the fiber backlinks to their towers in your neck of the woods you should be fine. I upgraded from a Unite Explorer as I wanted the upgraded modem that the Nighthawk offers and wanted the gigabit port (I live on hardlines). To directly address your speed question I live in an urban environment where my average speed on the unite explorer was about 30 to 60 mbps symetrical. with the nighthawk im getting the same speed.
we just traded in the unite explorer for the nighthawk (we were still on our 14 day trial period with the at&t hotspot service) simply on the merit of being able to serve BOTH 2.4 and 5ghz devices simultaneously. rather than one or the other. so far, (here in chappell hill texas) seeing SOME, but not dramatically better speed performance. going to investigate mimo antennas this next week to see what we can do about upping our speeds.
I just upgraded from Unite Explore to M1. Unite Explore was able to also do both simultaneous 2.4 and 5. There is also the same setting in the M1. Internet performance wise, the two are identical in my area. I got the M1 for the ethernet port as well as the type-C port. Both are not as stable as a dedicated router though. When at home, I'll feed the output to a dedicated router which is more stable and also has a stronger signal. The more wireless devices connected to the hotspot.
wow man thats pretty cool , i just got a message on mine saying it stopped charging due to the battery overheating , with the charger that came with it is it powerful enough to keep it going 24/7 without a battery or do i need a faster charger? please respond
just so you know james, if you plug the nighhawk into a computer via ethernet you can see the link speed is 1GBE on the single ethernet port on this unit.
Jean Boddie hi Jean, the nighthawk has two 2x mimo ports at the bottom for external antennas. Without getting too complicated, netgear sells a directional antenna that you just point in the direction of the cell tower to boost the signal to the device. Normal rules apply for boosters or external antenna. The higher it is up in the air and the further away it is from interference (ie trees, buildings blocking line of sight to the tower) the better it will work in getting a good signal. This can get crazy complicated with signal interference with boosters due to feed back loops so most of the time people go with external antenna for their homes or rv's. I personally have both (due to living in a hole in the earth) but I find that I use neither as the internal antennas work best for when I use the device. By the by the nighthawk has a 4x mimo internal antenna which will be faster then any externally attached directional antenna . However if you get no signal an external 2x mimo antenna is better then no signal.
I've had a Wilson cellular extender for several years. It has an external antenna, an amplifier and the re-transmission unit. It doesn't cover the whole house (as they advertised). In fact it only helps in a 5' radius around the re-transmitter. I put the MR1100 next to the re-transmitter and get 5 bars. Without the Wilson only 1 or 2. The external Wilson antenna is on a tripod on my deck aimed at the nearest tower --- 11 miles away in the hills and forests of Mark Twain National Forest. I hesitate to recommend the Wilson (price, promises), but I also can't operate without it.
Hi James - I'm sure many people running into the same problem as I did. As soon as I plug the Netgear M1 router into the USB port, other internet options are gone (my home wireless wifi or from ethernet cable from my wifi router). When the laptop only see the the Netgear M1 router, it does not allow my home wifi to work. Do you have any idea on how to fix this?
In using the M1, are you putting a router in front of it (double NAT with regards to the M1 and your possible router) or are you just using it straight on your network? I'm trying to get the Home Base up and running using it on my network (no router between it and my network) and using another router as a bridged access point for WiFi hoping to get around the 10 device limit. Not having much luck so far. While I'll have more time to play with it over the weekend, I'm starting to wonder if the 10-device limit is an actual limit on the number of devices, regardless of how they are connected, to the Home Base vs a limit on the number of Wi-Fi connected devices (which I was hoping it was - thus the secondary AP). While I can put another router in between the Home Base and my network, I'd really rather find a way to otherwise get this working rather than to needlessly double-NAT it. I've toyed with the idea of having the Home Base on my network just as a gateway and maybe have DHCP hosted on my re-purposed router acting as a AP. Just curious how you have yours sorted. Thanks.
Bradley Bishop I was able to get up to 16 devices hooked up to it. Please see my second video on the nighthawk m. ua-cam.com/video/_RRkVhlKBo8/v-deo.html
Hi James - I purchased this initially intending to use it with Google Fi. I abandoned that plan and am currently with a home that has LAN. No SIM card is in the device and it's not been setup to work with one, and I'm wondering if I can have it solo function through LAN. Problem is I've not set it up to work with anything yet, not even a SIM. Is there a way to set it up purely as a LAN router with no sim card in it?
I have had mine for just over a month and I got a notification on the screen stating that battery charge levels will be decreased to 75% since it’s been plugged in continuously.
But to answer your question specifically it does have port forwarding but it does not open your NAT type if you're asking this in regards to online gaming

I just received the NH mobile hotspot today 11-2-17 , I bought it from ATT to use in my van as a mobile unit and will never move it from the van. Also have been looking at homes in Fla that has no internet available, have you tested the up/download speed? Good vid thanks.
Hi Buzz, my thoughts are, if your going to use it in the van get a external car antenna as a big metal box (a car) absorbs LTE signals before they get to your device. That being said, the modem in the hotspot is stupid fast. When atat rolls out 5g evolution (next year) nation wide it will support it. As for day to day I live in a urban environment and my speed will be different from yours. But I'm able to get on average with 1 to 2 bars 30mbps down 20 up. Glad you liked the video. Let me know if you have any further questions as well. - James
Can confirm that that's a gigabit LAN port. ethtool on Linux on a computer with gigabit LAN plugged into this modem's LAN port reports a gigabit full duplex link.
I have this in the uk and been trying to find out for ages if it is gigabit as it would have been stupid for Netgear to put a 100mbps Ethernet port on this device.
I own one of these ( AT&T) unlimited internet = my download speed is about 350-400 kbps ( I don't have the antenna yet) I did not know about the hidden SD card slot, being truly mobile was a game changer for me
I haven't purchased one of these yet but, I plan on it. Can't beat $20/month for broadband around here. Surprised to find that AT&T is actually price competitive on something for once. Good to know that the battery is removable. That was one of my main concerns. Glad Netgear designed this way so you don't have to replace it every year.

James, I would like to use this as a failover internet connection. Internet is on and off where I live - The plan would be to place a ubiquiti EdgeRouter X to port 1 to a my main internet, and Port 4 to the the MR1100 hotspot. from the edgerouter to the WAN port on my home Wifi Router. Any thoughts.
G-Man hi yes hrmmmm let me see.... ok here I go. You seem to know what you're talking about. First off if you have caps on your data plan this would be a very bad idea. ATat changed their plans to put caps on this hotspot so unless you have there grandfathered unlimited plus plans its not going to end well. Second fail over is great for business where after the work day as you can reset to the primary connection. I have yet to see a internet sensing router switch back to the primary internet after a fall over. As most don't want to disrupt traffic. You might want to look into speedify. A software that "bonds" connections together. Sure it's slower then a pure pipe but sure beats reloading websites for your household. Cheers
Jon Valera hi, you will need to check your terms of service for sprint and check that the LTE bands the nighthawk supports are compatible. Most carriers "unlimited" is for the device (cell phone) it came with and does not include hotspot or laptops. Hope that helps. You might want to check out mobile internet resource center. They have good information on how to get unlimited data from sprint on a hotspot
I don’t understand, so if i want to always use it as a primary source of internet i just remove the battery and just plug in the type-C charger all the time ?
Can someone help me with understanding what SIM card would be best to input to this devise? Would Any or is there a company with unlimited data, and if so does a normal plan will do or am I suppose to get a mobile hotspot plan?
I do this. My older Verizon hotspot battery swelled up. So i started using a timer. the Verizon one would sometimes loose the connection when the timer switched on. But it was perfect for the battery. On charge about 6 hours a day. I just got the MR1100 but it is only needing a charge at 3 hours 4 times a day so far to keep it above 70%. Still tweaking the time.
I bought one of these and unfortunately it seems like I need to have the battery plugged in in order for it to work. Is there something I need to do to my modem to change that? Thanks.
Mi Da it is known that the default charger does not provide enough power to run without the battery. My suggestion is to get a Qualcomm 3.0 charger and that should fix the issue.
Stupid question, but do I have to buy a different cable for sufficient power or is the one that came with it good enough? Or is it just the adapter that needs changing? Because I'm currently looking on eBay and I only see adapters. Thank you so much for your help! I was not expecting such a prompt response!
How do I connect this to a NETGEAR nighthawk router every time I connect the ethernet cable to the router I'm not getting internet service I just want to extend the signal at my house any videos on how to thanks
Hussain Khan Technicly their should be no issue if you are familier with ip networking (port forwarding etc) and can solve your own networking issues. Just be sure to read your contract with your provider very carefully. Alot of cell phone contracts have it written in the fine print that constaint streaming is not permitted on their network. A network camera would qualify as "constaint streaming" so its something to keep in mind. Hope that helps.
Quick question, @James Mccorn, I don't know if I'm understanding this right. You CAN use the ethernet port to pass LTE internet to the PC, right? I was very upset that the documentation says otherwise. But you've given me hope. Let me know if I understood correctly. Cause all the papers say that the port is only to share your home internet through the router wifi and not LTE to Ethernet.
FYI it will not work if it detects another WAN connection like another router (cable modem ect). THE ONLY WAY that this will pass its LTE connection onto other devices is if it (nighthawk) determines that it is not getting an IP address so it must become whats known as a DHCP server and assign out IP addresses. Now you can bypass this limitation with some more networking knowledge but that is beyond the average Joe and the scope of my videos. If networking interests you their are plenty of youtube channels to assist you in your discovery.
Sorry, but it's fairly widely known that this device WILL connect to a router to provide a WAN via AT&T. I'm currently doing just that in failover mode with an Asus AC68U router. I think AT&T helped write the manual to discourage customers using this device to provide SOHO service on their network.

So, if I have a cricket sim card, running unlimited (which they like to block hotspot from phones) can I use this and use it? Ill be willing to pay for a month of service to find out
From what I know, cricket is a mvno of AT&T and the big 4 never prioritize their mvnos over their own service. You would not get full speed out of the device. Also if the terms of service say no hotspots then they usually block hotspots. If you do try it though, let me know how it is working for you after a month.
Hi Ben, the plan I have is no longer available in the USA on Atat. You can still get the device on atat but you will need to check atat for the latest pricing and commitment terms as I am not a atat representative
Bro, if using the modem without battery, does it will burn the usb port or motherboard? because in aircard 790s had that issue. Is it safe to use without battery?
Hi Thasvin, I have not experienced any burned USB port issues for my own hotspot. Australia has had the hotspot for over a year and if any issues like USB burn occurred they would have reported it by now. However, just to be sure when you buy it to pick up the optional insurance that att provides. It's more peace of mind on top of the hardware warrenty provided by netgear. Also usb c standard is rather new so 3rd party manufacturers can make cables that fry your electronics. if you want to make sure your new hotspot lasts a very very long time be sure to pick up a cable recomended by a google engineer plus.google.com/+BensonLeung . Let me know if this helped. - James
James, I think if I could figure out how to get the Apple TV connected to the Ethernet rather than the WiFi, I could just use a switch and extend my ports with that.
Michael Floyd well I'm not going to assume anything about your setup, so here is how I would set it up. I would plug the Ethernet cable from the netgear mobile router to a network switch. Then from the switch I would run Ethernet cable to the apple tv or anything else. Yes all of them would need power and their own Ethernet cable to run. Hope that helps. I'm not a network pro or anything as I spend most if my time on the road.( I'm just lucky to have such a large setup when I am home as the family is a bit bandwith crazy.) Cat 5 cat 6 or cat 7 networking cable will work fine for you. Let me know how things go.
you do know that the m1 already has a feature that keeps your battery at the perfect charge percentage to make the battery last a long time it does not let your battery sit at 100% so you do not need to take the battery out when using the adapter,
syoung20001 you might want to look at professional 4g routers if all you want is ethernet. As the device is not too optimised for leaving on using ethernet long term. As it requires the battery to be installed with the default charger to work properly. If you know battery's then being plugged in all the time is bad news.

Hi dustin wampler, I commiserate with you on trying to get gaming to run (see my other video ua-cam.com/video/_RRkVhlKBo8/v-deo.html) I have had some time to reflect on my conclusions from the last time I attempted it. However the complexity would boggle most end users. But I'll list it here for you to try. To bypass atat's Nat and the routers Nat to get type one NAT would require your Xbox or ps4 to sit behind a computer that is running a vpn. That way when ever the ps4 or Xbox asked for the internet it would go though the pc first then put through a vpn and then the internet. Something like this (Xbox--->pc NIC 2 ----> vpn on pc ------> pc NIC 1 -----> switch ----> nighthawk ----> internet. Let me know how it goes either way.
Does anyone know if the M1 will automatically reboot and re-connect to internet after a power failure if it is getting power from AC with battery removed (i.e. not have to push the power button to restart?). Need something to connect thermostat/camera in a remote location where I cannot reach for 4 hrs to reboot.
Kyd Brenner you might want to look at professional/commercial 4g routers. The m1 is a consumer product and your looking at it from a professional level setup. The m1 has issues keeping the lan port alive without the battery in (see my other video on the m1). Perhaps Peplink routers might be a good place to start your research as they do what you want far more elegantly.

how do you set it up? i have it turned on and i’m on the wifimanager on my laptop and it says it’s not connected to LTE but i can’t figure out how to connect it.
Howdy bernice McClendon the monthly cost is dependent on how many devices are on your account. I have 7 so it only costs me $20 a month. However stand alone should be more per month.
with it tethered via usb-c and a mimo antenna, I was speed testing at 101 Mps down. I was kicked from the network the next day and had to open a new account. ever since then it looks like the new account is throttled at 50mps
symbians60user well having traveled alot I've learned that the speed posted is not what you get. As carriers unthrottle speed tests on purpose. I would say that for me decent lte speed would be being able to watch a UA-cam in full HD while browsing the internet. (Not great LTE speed for example 4k while downloading steam games)
Depends where you are, tower capacity, tower load, tower network revision, if the tower is mimo enabled. Or you could reboot the device to try and see if the tower can give you more...
Hi James...i cant find an answer anywhere..hope you can help..i have one of these...can i connect a wifi printer to this wirelessly? I only have a samsung tablet and no computer... its not picking up the connection. I try to add manually and it keeps asking for an ip address..
Is the printer configured to get an automatic ip address? Or in other words is dhcp in the printer settings set to "on" or the printer set to automatic? Also is the printer wireless or hard lined? How old is the printer? These are questions I would address first before I work with the nighthawk. Oh and yes it does work with printers hard lined or wireless they just need to be properly configured. Let me know how it goes.
judegirl1 hi, I have a follow up question. What is connecting to the printer to print? If you have no pc and you are trying to print from a tablet you need a printer that is cloud print ready (ie Google cloud print etc) to print from the tablet. Let me know what you discover.
Also a follow up, does your printer have a touch screen or buttons to allow you to get into settings so you can add the nighthawk WiFi settings into the printer?
Texas Most Wanted no idea, this is a top of the line nighthawk, not known for being affordable. Perhaps atat go phone mifi as they are no contract if your going atat.

So the lb1120 is better then the m1 nighthawk

You didn't mention that it has 2 external TS-9 Antenna jacks (2 Black rubber bars near the USB and Ethernet Ports) so you can hook up outdoor external antennas to a pole and get perfect signal which is ideal if you are going to use this primarily for home internet. You also didn't mention that you can use the hotspot to charge other devices (Which is one of the reasons for the big battery) and finally you didnt mention that you can use it to share files via plugging a USB Flash drive to the Hotspot.
I have question what is the best ts9 antenna to get for the netgear hotspot
I just got mine today, and I did not know that those were antenna ports. I just thought they were simply rubber stands to set the modem vertically. This thing is incredible!
@@MrPacMan36 Yes it is. I haven't been able to get full speeds out of this unit yet but hopefully that will change in the near future.
Daimien Taylor me either. The older ATT HOME BASE I always had 5 bars . This one I’m getting 2-3 bars only. I may try adding the antennas
thx but for sure relax
Usin this with Unlimitedville right now and definitely worth it considering the lack of caps or throttling.
I clicked. I watched. You win. Gj playa.
I'm glad knowledge is spreading. This video is over a year old and at the time AT&T was actively hiding this knowledge. Glad you enjoyed it.
so it doesn't use hot spot data? It uses cellular data, like a phone plan?
Nice video. Love your nails.
How do you get it so fast ours is like 10 kbs
i'm currently using the unite explore for our fixed, home internet service, and have been reasonably happy with it. speed wise, i'm getting (on average) 15 down and 5 up. do you think the nighthawk will improve on that?
It should have enough power. I'm running mine without battery and I using wall charger
@@zRegicideTVz i tried it i got a 18 watt charger for it it charges with battery in it fast but when i take battery out it wont even come on lol
just so you know james, if you plug the nighhawk into a computer via ethernet you can see the link speed is 1GBE on the single ethernet port on this unit.
Any way for this to work without 110 power? Like a big battery and solar panel where there is no electricity?
getting the night hawk soon what antenna would you use for landline use
It only accepts TS9 connector antenna www.store4g.com/blog/netgear-nighthawk-m1-mr1100-external-antenna/
Can I run a Lan cable from MR1 netgear directly to my smart tv in my semi truck for better connection?
The Ethernet Port is under 1Gbps support I have the OEM Product I have tested.
Rolando Sanchez will this have great speeds with my ps4 wired ?
What’s the range on this device ?
What about using an extended or booster? Can you do a video that explains the best way to use one?
My suggestion is to plug the m1 in with its original charger. If you plug it into your computers USB port then it will shut off the WiFi
Set it up to do IP pass through.
You can use it as a wifi access point
I have had mine for just over a month and I got a notification on the screen stating that battery charge levels will be decreased to 75% since it’s been plugged in continuously.
Mine on AT&T firmware seems to keep battery between 50-75%.
A question when I have run out of cell data can I connect to my home internet system/?
James, Will the ATT nighthawk M1 do port forwarding or be able to have a static ip on ATT?
Att isn't willing to offer static ip services their words not mine
But to answer your question specifically it does have port forwarding but it does not open your NAT type if you're asking this in regards to online gaming
Also has upnp and dlna features as well
@@pcparlor …I do have a static IP from AT&T but it required a business account. They say it’s a $500 one time/ $3 per month…I was never charged the $500 fee, only the $3 per month. how fast does NAS feature work when copying on sd card or usb flash in local wifi (MBs)?
- James
Thanks for the info, will look into it.
Does this shit work for gaming?
Can confirm that that's a gigabit LAN port. ethtool on Linux on a computer with gigabit LAN plugged into this modem's LAN port reports a gigabit full duplex link.
I have this in the uk and been trying to find out for ages if it is gigabit as it would have been stupid for Netgear to put a 100mbps Ethernet port on this device.
What exactly were the hidden features?
The secret feature is the special helmet with the rainbows on it that he's wearing.
I wanna run it 24/7 in my off grid property because I have cameras will this run 24/7 with the c cable and removing the battery
can i use the old school usb to charge the Nighthawk or does it only charge with usb-c? also is usb-c 3.0 or 2.0 ??
only usb-c
I own one of these ( AT&T) unlimited internet = my download speed is about 350-400 kbps ( I don't have the antenna yet) I did not know about the hidden SD card slot, being truly mobile was a game changer for me
i recently got one of these since there is no high speed available for me, and i am only getting 200-500 kbps. What did you do to fix yours?
I haven't purchased one of these yet but, I plan on it. Can't beat $20/month for broadband around here. Surprised to find that AT&T is actually price competitive on something for once.
Good to know that the battery is removable. That was one of my main concerns. Glad Netgear designed this way so you don't have to replace it every year.
How do you get the AT&T $20 plan ? Thanks ✌

Can we get an external wifi antenna?
I purchased this to connect to a digital ham radio openspot. Can I power the other device via the usb c cable?

Yes, just remove the battery pack and power the router from a decent USB power supply
This guy has such a pleasant voice
So what all is required to run it without the battery?
Cheers
Thank you James, data cap is ok for usage. I will look into speedify
If im able to find an unlocked nighthawk, can i put my micro-sim in there and will it work off my data plan thats currently unlimited w sprint
Yes, that's correct
Hey James, will the unlocked version work with Tmobile? I have a tower right next to my house but no internet providers but satellite.
Yes, works on T-Mobile through wirelessbuy.com/?affiliate_id=a1b8 they will provide you the unlocked M1 so you can use either ATT or T-Mobile.
Do you know the range at wich this device will give a good signal?
My experience is that the wifi signal drops off very quickly. I have to use an extender for anything that is not in the same room.
will this work at a campsite where att is strongest? if my pc is wireless will it connect wirelessly? thanks.
yep

Can someone help me with understanding what SIM card would be best to input to this devise?
Would Any or is there a company with unlimited data, and if so does a normal plan will do or am I suppose to get a mobile hotspot plan?
Am I able to connect an ATT cell booster to this since has ethernet option?
I've seen a lot of threads about the battery issue. Has anyone tried plugging the charger into a timed outlet so it auto offs and ons
Mi Da just need to replace the power brick, the cable is fine.
Thank you again for the help.
I'm glad to find out that it runs without battery, Because keeping it plugged in with the battery it would every now and then turn off the device.
How do I connect this to a NETGEAR nighthawk router every time I connect the ethernet cable to the router I'm not getting internet service I just want to extend the signal at my house any videos on how to thanks
Can I use this Router to connect it to my dvr for cctv and see it on my phone?
Cause all the papers say that the port is only to share your home internet through the router wifi and not LTE to Ethernet.
you might find this very interesting then for your question.... ua-cam.com/video/_RRkVhlKBo8/v-deo.html Hope the video I did helps. -@Esteban Urayoán
@@KyLakerat78 glad you found this year old video video. Your right, it is well known now. =) Sadly people still dont know it yet. So I still leave it up as a beacon of knowledge.

Thanks
do i need home internet to used it ? where can i find it ? what kind of a sim card ? and service ? how much a months ?
- James
James Mccorn if i used the cable that cames with the netgear product? And a quick charge 2.0 adapter? Will that be safe?
Thasvin G should be, as long as it outputs 5v 2amps which quick charge 1 supports
James, I think if I could figure out how to get the Apple TV connected to the Ethernet rather than the WiFi, I could just use a switch and extend my ports with that.
Michael Floyd yep, you don't need to be as extreme as my setup with 48 ports. A nice 8 port one can be had for a fraction of the price.
James when you connected your Ethernet to the net gear, did you have to turn on something to get it to accept that connection?
Let me know how things go.
you do know that the m1 already has a feature that keeps your battery at the perfect charge percentage to make the battery last a long time it does not let your battery sit at 100% so you do not need to take the battery out when using the adapter,
It'll get hot if you just leave it in all the time when its not nessessary
You forgot the most important hidden feature. External antenna connection!
Can the WiFi broadcast be shut off in the menu?
I want to run Ethernet, but not push out WiFi signals
syoung20001 you might want to look at professional 4g routers if all you want is ethernet. As the device is not too optimised for leaving on using ethernet long term. As it requires the battery to be installed with the default charger to work properly. If you know battery's then being plugged in all the time is bad news.
What kind of battery is it

Recommended vpn?

Howdy bernice McClendon the monthly cost is dependent on how many devices are on your account. I have 7 so it only costs me $20 a month. However stand alone should be more per month.
If u plug ethernet cord into it from laptop is it now wired vs wireless connection because j see the ethernet portn
Yes it would directly convert lte to ethernet

The only thing AT&T on that router is the logo and the firmware. Get the regular netgear nighthawk without the ATT firmware, much better and easier.

Hey James what do you call descent LTE speed?
symbians60user well having traveled alot I've learned that the speed posted is not what you get. As carriers unthrottle speed tests on purpose. How old is the printer? These are questions I would address first before I work with the nighthawk. Oh and yes it does work with printers hard lined or wireless they just need to be properly configured. Let me know how it goes.
James Mccorn hi again..it seems auto.. came with a disc to load on a computer. Epson expression xp 240 wifi..in Australia
judegirl1 hi, I have a follow up question.
Hi James. The printer is brand new
Can you jailbreak it
Where can u find one cheap without a contract?
Texas Most Wanted no idea, this is a top of the line nighthawk, not known for being affordable. Perhaps atat go phone mifi as they are no contract if your going atat.
Would this work for 5+ devices
Yes please see my other video.. it can drive much more then the 48 ports I have on my one network
