    I was in the same situation. Bought a house out in a very rural area- no internet options. MoFi really saved me. I'll suggest one thing that helped me out even more- I took the antennas off of the MoFi and ran some low-loss coax cables outside of the house and up a pole and hooked them to some Wilson antennas. Gave me much faster speeds.

      wuak look up “John Barth” on UA-cam. My setup is identical to his. I’m Georgia. He’s North Carolina. State shouldn’t matter. As long as you can get a cell signal you should be good. I’m getting roughly 15-20 down and 10+ up but a lot of people get better than that. I’m very happy with it.

    Ended up purchasing the Netgear Nighthawk with one of his unlimited data cards. It arrived in the mail today he gave me step by step instructions on how to set it up, activated the SIM card almost immediately after me alerting him of the arrival of the nighthawk. And so far so good even with poor service where I live out in the middle of the woods (1-2 bars of 4glte) this thing is still super fast. Can't wait to see how it does when I get some antennas and get better coverage. I can now cancel Hughes net who was about to up my bill to 175 for 50gb per month after I've been with them for almost 1 year 8months. So as of right now I'm a satisfied purchaser.
    Thanks man.

      How is it working so far? I'm looing for a better solution than satellite internet. I currently pay for DSL but I rarely see 1mbps upload and it is constantly dropping and I have to restart the modem. If it's still working good I'm going to order this.

    • @buddyb.3855
      @buddyb.3855 5 років тому +3

      Donald Raines so far so good. I have my PS4 connected to it through a cat6 cord and my phone, laptop and desktop connected to the night Hawks WiFi. I'm able to stream Netflix while browsing the web on another device. Ice hooked it up to a vorke box for streaming movies always does the job. My only issue is I live out deep in the woods and only get 2 bars of 4glte normally but even with only 2 bars it excedes the performance of the hughesnet 5g satellite service I had. Would definitely recommend getting one.

    • @4GS-Studios
      @4GS-Studios  6 років тому +1

      The Netgear antenna definitely will offer some signal boost but you may not notice it in terms of speed. It likely will just allow you to maintain the 1-2 bars better if that makes sense. If your budget allows you could look into a product called weboosr sold on amazon. Those work well but they are kinda pricey. Not sure what you paying for your current ATT plan but we offer unlimited ATT data plans for $70 month to month.

I purchased directly from ATT for my customers and after a few months i got so many compliments about the battery not charging, unit randomly rebooting etc. Don’t get me wrong i love the M1 and it’s features. But with the problems ppl were having i had to take them back and I lost a lot of money. So I personally don’t recommend or sell them. But if someone is adamant about getting one I definitely tell them it’s a great unit if your lucky enough to get one without those issues. I use a Mofi and if you’re on a budget the huawei 310.

      @4GS-Studios  6 років тому +2

      Speeds are relative to your location. There’s a good chance that the speeds I get in my area will not be the and speeds you get in yours. What I recommend people to do if they are curious about speeds is to find someone with an AT&T device in this case a run a speed directly from that device at the desired location. This will give you the best idea of the type of speeds at your location. No matter the device speeds will not very that much between devices.

  • @scottwilliams4157
    @scottwilliams4157 6 років тому +2

    So, for use in an RV and in terms of performance with limited number of devices... How about the Netgear + multiport switch + external antennas? AND, also since I'm actually on Verizon, I'm thinking of using their Jetpack (Novatel 7730L) + multiport switch + antennas + TP-Link Nano router. I'm thinking either combo would be like a light duty MoFi setup. -sound right?

    • @4GS-Studios
      @4GS-Studios  6 років тому

      Your solution would work with the netgear Nighthawk, but if you had the Nighthawk you wouldn’t need the nano router.. The 7730l want work because it has no ethernet port. The nano router sounds interesting. Have you used this device before? How does it perform.

    • @scottwilliams4157
      @scottwilliams4157 6 років тому +1

      Yeah, for AT&T customers, I'm thinking Netgear + antennas + switch for port expansion would be fine. For us Verizon folk, I think that 7730L + Nano + switch + antennas would do the trick. The 7730L is the hotspot and it transmits via WiFi only (no ports). The Nano connects wirelessly *or* via the ethernet port. So, it can connect directly to the 7730L and then to a multi-port switch. Whatcha think about *that*? :D
      As for the Nano, I've not used it personally, but my buddy has and he raves about the flexibility. The various operating modes are Router, AP, Client, Repeater and also WISP. -has Chromecast integration, too. So, use it in the RV, as I described above. Then, go to a hotel with it and connect to their WiFi. Or, plug into anywhere's wired network and then serve your devices on their own wireless LAN via NAT. -lots of possibilities. :)

    • @4GS-Studios
      @4GS-Studios  6 років тому +1

      No ports exactly so how are you gonna connect the 7730l to the nano router?

    • @scottwilliams4157
      @scottwilliams4157 6 років тому

      They'd communicate wirelessly. That's one of the wonderful things about the Nano. It can connect via cable *or* wirelessly. That's in both/either directions. Check it out.

    • @scottwilliams4157
      @scottwilliams4157 6 років тому

    Question??? I have the Mifi 8800l through Verizon. I mostly stream movies and such and of course I used up the 15gs in a matter of hours then it went to 3g which I'm sure you know, it sucks. Yesterday, I watched a video about the mofi 4500 where the dude was claiming that it is designed to always put out 4g speeds even after the data cap. Do you know anything about this? Is it true? The 4500 isn't cheap and I'd hate to purchase something that doesn't fix my problem. I've done enough of that this week already while trying to fix my internet issues. Thanx!

    • @4GS-Studios
      @4GS-Studios  4 роки тому +1

      Michael Gall no that’s dependent on your plan/sim card. The Mofi doesn’t correct that. Maybe if they are using the Mofi to mask some information to Verizon or always changing information to fool Verizon but this isn’t happening out if the box. Nothing is impossible and someone probably can do something like that. But if the could they probably could do it with a $40 jail broken android phone lol.

    • @michaelgall6876
      @michaelgall6876 4 роки тому +1

      @@4GS-Studios Thanks for getting back to me. Honestly, the 3g is not so bad. I guess it depends on what I'm watching and how big the file is. It does suck with the HBO Now app. I mainly use it for my Fire Stick which I jailbroken. Prime Videos seen to work fine. Netflix buffers quite a bit. I'll tell you what's crazy. I was on a Game Of Thrones binge and 1 episode would take 2 hours to watch through HBO Now because of all the buffering but if I'd watch the show through let's say Unlock My TV it will still buffer but it'd play better. Also, today I added the Netgear Mimo Antenna. That did give me some extra signal bars.

    I want to work from my van and like the options on the MOFI unit. One thing I was curious about is, if the MOFI is in the van I would need an external antenna(s) on top of my van. Is there a way to plug external antennas into the MOFI?

      Jonathan Batson yeah I have sold my service to at least four families that RV full time. None of them have had to install any external antenna on the roof of the RV. That being said I would give the Mofi a chance by it self before going through those hoops. Also I have another device very similar to the Mofi if you are interested. It’s about $150 cheaper

    The newest mofo comes out in late may to mid june..
    The current mofi uses a Catagory 6 modem
    ( good up to 300 down and 50 up..or less depending on tower you are accessing )
    However the new one coming out..will come with a Category12 modem or for additional $100 usd it will come with a Category18 modem that offers up to 1200 down and 150 up..real world while congested in my area will be 450 to 600 down and 100 up... I already get with my cat6 cel phone 80 to 110 down and 35 to 40 up )
    The mofo.. gets better connection due to the much larger hi gain antennas then other hotspots have within them and still if you are to use it at home you can get both a stronger connection as well as a faster connection by using an exturnal mimo antenna ( which is why the mofi uses dual 4g cel antennas )

      i personally use the netgear lb1120 with the proxicast mimo antennae as a home network solution in rural ga and i pull 45down 16up. Im on tmobile and my local tower supports band 2 and 12 (i use 2). Do you think the mofo displayed in this video or the new one coming out soon would be viable upgrade for me or should i just be content with what i have. The cost difference between to lb1120 and mofo m4 is about 150 but im worried that the lb1120 doesnt output enough power to antenna 20 ft away using willson low loss cable to a sma male then sma male to ts9
