2 years later from my last reply....just set this game up to try it again. I am just about finished with the first era. Over the last couple years, I managed to get a hold of Napoleon in Europe boar game, which has his battle system he basically integrated into his digital version of V&G. The only thing I had to do was come up with conversion from the cardboard values to the quantity and quality of miniatures from his older board game. To me, it seems that he published an unfinished game, and an expansion might have been great. Nevertheless, with both games, I think I sort of made my own expansion, and the battles are much better then the abstract version.

I was really sceptical about this game but I am happy to say this is a really good game simple to learn but hard to master and it plays very fast.

You are always so positive that after so many reviews i ve learned how to discover that u don’t love a game so much....this is one of those cases.... maybe am wrong...

Great review, and a very clear description on how to play.
I think that for new players, it is definitely easier for the British to win. However, experienced players can really run riot with the French. I almost never lose as the French, and can really run up the score on a hapless John Bull if I can get get control of Germany and Italy early.

Just opened mine. So it is basically a card game where everything is happening in some invisible landscape...certainly not on the gorgeous board! Im going to incorporate minis and mix in some Napoleon in Europe rules.

I should have explained that I was just finishing assembling map, pieces and rule set for an advanced Risk type game when I bought this map. I was hoping to integrate the two systems together, and I completed it after many hours, and Im happy to say its the most epic board game Ive ever played! Thanks for your video, it was the deciding factor for my plan and glad I got it

The videogame version of the boardgame seems vastly superior... Oo; They cut out most of the fun stuff it seems. I may still pick it up but i'm a bit dissapointed so much was cut out.

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Thanks for the feedback. I'm unsure but I think i'll end up picking it up from the Geek. Being a lover of Napoleon's art of war a light strategy game is something I don't have yet.

The brown ocean really bothers me. Why? Well, its like that black and white picture of a cup, or is it two faces in profile? My brain has a hard time focusing at first on the map.

I think the map is beautiful. I really like it quite a bit.

    • @gowensbach2998

The Discriminating Gamer I have the digital version and just ordered the board version. The brown ocean I can get used too. I understand its artistic license!. I actually was looking to buy his Napoleon in Europe, and I noticed the similar style when looking up the rules. I had decided to create my own Risk style napoleonic board game but wanted a more complex set of rules. So I created a larger vinyl map of the risk Europe map, and ordered pieces, and incorporating the rules from Napoleon in Europe. Then it occurred to me that I could get Victory and glory as I just found out it was also a board game! Thought it was just digital...

Saw some cards with bad French: 'En evant', should be 'en avant',
'Levée en mass' should be 'levée en masse'.

It's a shame to see how much the final product for this game changed so much from the original Kickstarter campaign. What was originally a 2-5 player, 6+ hour epic experience looks to have been watered down a bit.

You shouldn't. Bad attitude. Played by his own rules, which was difficult depending on which game we had on the table. Worst of all, started channelling Evil Cody.
