Man that was a tense first run! But after watching you, Zak and Atheenon playing this mode, I’ve come to an astonishing conclusion:
Misery mode REALLY wants you dead
Misery reminds me of the Hunger Games-how the game makers became more and more desperate for the players to die until eventually, they were just trying to murder them directly. That’s how Misery feels to me. “Still Haven’t died? Fine! No more health regen, not even from stims. Now you die!”
Misanthrope's hill is one of the more underrated most dangerous spots in the game. I've died there just as much as a lot of places. Wolves can range there easily and the slopes are deadly concealing. And I think it can sometimes give a false sense of security relative to the danger. Good luck on the next try.
I think the biggest mistake misery players are making so far is not routing the best path utilizing stims. Could use them to speed run to key locations instead of saving them.
Don't forget to prep the burdock root for eating
the long dark should add an 'IBS mode'

26:23 I was thinking the same thing, in my first 2 starts, I couldn't find matches, killed me. Then I couldn't find a bedroll, killed me. I think I will probably develop a meta based around where I'm most likely to first find matches, some key clothing items or cloth, and bedroll.
Going straight to TWM and AC is interesting because of the reward but really hard to get enough cloth/hats mittens to get you there without frostbite. But then the way you started has you missing those key peices TWM and AC afford.
Addition: so starting in the same place does put force this weird start strategy in the player. It's not terrible right now but could become grindy or predictable with multiple repeat plays. But probably not as long as you consciously take the time to change it up.
Huh didn’t know misery started in the same location. Thought it would have at least a few start spots, interesting. It will definitely be interesting to see the strategies that form in terms of were to go.

When I heard that howl and saw you turn your back to the island as you tried to Skyrim your way up, my anxiety just skyrocketed on the spot. Guess that wolf couldn't pathfind to you until you landed back down on solid ground, at which point it charged without warning because you were super close. Typical Long Dark things, I suppose. Still, can't wait to see more of your Misery gameplay. Despite this mishap, your ability to progress through the world at an efficient pace is as prominent as ever.
Oh, also, being fully aware of your stance towards backseat gaming, I can only say this: OMG Hadrian why didn't you use your spraypaint on the wolf?! Tsk, tsk. Unsubbed.
the long dark should add bloating as a condition and also 'needing to pee real bad'

That was a strange wolf interaction. I didn’t think they charged quite that quickly. Do you think it was a bit of a glitch or do the misery wolves aggro to attacking faster?

Doesn't look like a glitch to me. The wolf was over the hill and came over. Wind was blowing away from wolf so by the time it detected him the wolf was in charge range. Also, the first affection says wolves sense your weakness I bet that increases charge range.

Making a title for this video must have been a pain. You want to accurately depict the episodes/seasons but also not spoil anything.

I hate the insulated flasks! They don’t even work. So far as I can tell, they don’t extend the life of your hot beverages at all.
The more hot beverages you put in the container, the longer the heat lasts. And, you can heat cold beverages by pouring them in with the hot ones, but it will reduce the overall time that they all stay hot.
3 sprains walking up a hill, 5 mins in, no afflictions yet? This mechanic has always been very annoying and imo kind of demotivating. Might even say dumb.
