The Gretsch Drummer that really blew me away was Tony Williams drumming in the Album "Believe It" In the song "Fred" The speed of the hi hat work and the incredible fills, and fire of his playing, is still an inspiration to me after all these years. Any drummer who hasn't heard his amazing drumming on this album, I would highly recomend you give it a try. RIP Tony Williams.
I got my Gretsch USA Custom Kit through you guys and couldn’t be happier! The drums just SING. I’ve played the majority of drum brands out there and I always come back to That Great Gretsch Sound. I also own Brooklyn’s which are equally as beautiful in both sound and looks. Could not rave about the brand!
Gretsch Drums are amazing, always loving the Sweetwater videos featuring my favorite drum company!! 8 years ago, when I was looking to upgrade from my starter kit, Nick D'Virgilio's demo videos of the Catalina Maple sold me on that kit, and Gretsch as a whole. My dream kit would be a high end Gretsch, with a USA Custom as the ultimate goal, and this video may have confirmed that!!
I’m fortunate to own a USA Custom kit and a Yamaha Hybrid Maple kit. If I had to keep just one it’s gotta be the Gretsch. Both very versatile kits but that maple/gum and die cast hoop formula is just sonic magic.
Careful Nick, that's a blue sparkle Gretsch kit - and we all know that's supposedly someone else's 'signature' finish; and you won't like him when he's angry... 😉 Great playing, lovely kit too.
Small request Can you get Sweetwater to separate the departments (create dedicated channels for each). I ask because many of us are only interested in a particular area, such as drums only for example. But in our feed, we’re getting EVERYTHING. 😖 It’s just too much to go through. Too overwhelming with products we’re not into. I’ll be happy to resubscribe if and when you folks can make some changes. Thanks 😊
I agree! Luckily the algorithm only suggests Sweetwater's drum videos to me, but unfortunately I don't want to subscribe because I don't want to see the other Sweetwater videos.
@@daltonidaho Yeah same here If you subscribe then every video they post comes into your subscription page and it’s annoying when you have a lot of subscriptions and you gotta scroll through so many to get to the other videos
@sweetwater on the Snareweight just lift it up and let the magnet hold it up out of the way, then flip it back down when you need it. I’ve been using Snareweight since day 1!
Hopefully you do not need Gretsch Customer service. The number on their contact page has a recording to call the manufacturer. They have not replied to email I have sent. For what its worth, the Catalina Club I just bought is made in China. From everything I read I expected them to be made in Taiwan (possibly the DW factory).

Charlie Watts
No question, it's my biggest drumming inspiration, PC!
That 16" floor tom sounds MASSIVE! Great drums, and even better playing Nick. Gretsch drums are super easy to tune for some reason.

I'm down for the sound. But I'm also down for Nick's superb playing...which really brings the drums to life. Life begets life...
Gretsch is my favorite drum company! I really enjoyed your last video, loved hearing from the family and getting to see behind the scenes.

I've got a Broadkaster from about 20 years ago with the gunmetal hardware. Love them to this day!
Let’s be honest, we’re all here for Nick’s playing!
Phil Collins for sure. My first “real” kit was a Gretsch white, six piece concert tom set in 1981. I was 14 years old. Love your work Mr. D!
Great playing!
Awesome Mike Johnston name drop Nick. And of course you’re killing it as always.
Snare drum sounds incredible
Love that colour!
Those really are a beauty!
Incredible drums and of course the person playing them makes the difference as well. You never see many high end Gretsch kits in eastern Canada.
Canada was saturated with Yamaha
Awesome presentation,as always.The drums are very fine,i must say.Well done,sir.

Are you being serious.? I gotta laugh knowing just how much more of a sonic footprint the yamaha kit has over anything gretsch will ever make...
Yamaha 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Don’t forget Vinnie C loves that great Gretsch sound ! 👍
I am a gretsch lover all day. For this video - Nick your verbal audio is waaaaayyyy louder than the drum volume.
Gretsch are the greatest drums on the planet!
I've always wanted a brooklyn kit.
Careful Nick, that's a blue sparkle Gretsch kit - and we all know that's supposedly someone else's 'signature' finish; and you won't like him when he's angry... 😉
Great playing, lovely kit too.
Yep, Gretsch really should discontinue this finish because nobody else should be allowed to have it 😏
Who is this monster about whom you speak?
You forgot the great endorsement of Micky Dolenz who's drums were featured every week on national television.
Small request

I dont know what i did. But all i get are nick and drums.
If u only click on the drum ones. Thats all it will give u.

Is that the wrap seam that's on the 12" out front? I'd move the RIMS mount around to keep that seam toward the drummer, looks bad.

Nick is back!
definitley Elvin and Tony!
I love my Brooklyn kits
Jesus Christ that keyboard is like 5 times louder than the drums we’re trying to hear
What ride cymbal was that?
Sounded great
22inch sabian stratus ride
Nick out here playing Mega Man boss fight music 😂
Sweet!!
Gretsch makes some beautiful looking and sounding drums but… don’t hate me…I prefer clear interiors and wish it was an option. Great video
Is the tom1 mic working?
actually, the broadkaster have the reverse round over bearing edge, not the 30 degree edges
Yesssss, but i prefer TAMA
How'bout those great sounding cymbals!
What’s the great snare..?
For a Drums demo there are a lot's of cymbals sound and crash. he coul'd had relaxe on theses!!!!!
No internal dampeners?
The 14-inch floor tom sounds off. The 16-inch however sounds great.
Have a 60s era Name Band kit.
He needs to do voice over work.
He does lots of VO work!
@@sweetwater Makes sense. You can tell he's polished.
That bassdrum has some muffling inside right?
no, it's a Powerstroke 3 type head. (Built-in muffling.)
Amazing as always. Playing and sound! Nick what is under the kick and under the pedals, please?
Grub gear drum rug
Excellent but friggin heavy! 😂
That’s funny I put those on my drums and I still can’t do stuff like that
That 14 sounds horrid. Think Nick forgot to tune that one 😂
Came here looking for this comment. Glad I wasn’t the only one.
The 6 ply maple / Gum wood shell was introduced by Gretsch in the late 50's. Not in 1947.
Nick could make cardboard boxes sound great.
My pearl maple/gum kit is based on this delicious recipe. 😋 Yummy
vinnie mentioned
Can hardly hear the drims , mostly cymbals and electric irration ..... But gretch are my favorite nevertheless
Phil Collins 💯
Nick and Gretsch. Good grief!!
The 16 sounds so good it could be a DW

No, I can’t
I love Nick and Sweetwater demos but these drums sound like a hot mess
This is why I play DW that sound is just not for me😢
boring sound
why the coated heads? i dont get it....
Why would anyone play with clear heads?
@@evanhill9494a bit more stick definition/attack/sustain, maybe? Both are a valid choice imo.
