- In this video, I will review the TAD-T33 from Toyotomi. This air conditioner is a portable model with two ducts or hoses that is much more efficient than single hose competitors. But how does it stack up against a window air conditioner? And who is Toyotomi? Watch and lets find out. #toyotomi #tad-t33 #airconditioner

Another great informational video., I don't understand why you don't have more followers.?
Good question. I don't think the UA-cam algorithm likes me much.
Nice review. I wouldn't use one of these portable units personally but I understand it can be extremely difficult to use a window unit in some places. Particularly in high rise buildings. They don't want missiles falling from the sky and landing on pedestrians.
Yeah, I prefer window units but my HOA outlaws them. So I can only use them on the back side of the house where no one can see it from the road. On the front side I have to use a portable unit. At least this one isn't super inefficient.
@@LDSreliance That is a pain. Glad I don't live in an HOA. I've heard horror stories including a guy that said they wanted to inspect the color of a window dressing INSIDE their house. How could that possibly matter if the outside was a prescribed color?
I have no idea. My parents just built a house in a gated neighborhood and they required solid core doors on the inside the house. They were like $600 a piece. Why the heck does that matter to the homeowner's in the neighborhood? Just ludicrous.
There seems to be some confusion as to where Toyotomi currently manufacturers their products. Their heating products are made in Japan. However, the TAD-T33 portable AC unit in this review is made in China. This can be verified by going to 3:11 in the video. Look just to the right of "Nagoya, Japan" printed on the side of the box, and you'll see "Made in PRC" (People's Republic of China). Toyotomi's website states that this model features "Japanese design and Quality Control". However, it was not manufactured in Japan. I do not own the TAD-T33. However, I do currently own the previous model (TAD-T40LW,). It was made in China, and it's been in use every summer for the past seven years and works quite well. About twenty years ago, I also owned a Toyotomi model TID-180HP (made in Japan). It was a single hose design that captured condensation in a bucket. I too was concerned about the possible impact on quality when Toyotomi moved the manufacture of their AC units from Japan to China. However, I've not found this to be a problem.
I have reached out to them for comment. No response yet. I will post here if and when they respond.
I used the Dreo dual hose unit with similar specs, reviewed and highly recommended by Silver Cymbal. It sucks. $500,. Very disappointed compared to a common window unit at half the price. And the room I'm trying to cool is 200sf about 88 degrees, trying to get is down to about 79 degrees. It can't do it.
Bummer. I have seen some of his videos and have found some things useful but have also seen some things that seem to be driven for affiliate clicks. I'm sorry you have not had a great experience.
You should get some little digital thermometers and place them around your rooms to see how effective they are at lowering the temp.
I have a USB temperature data logger that I could use. The challenge would be the rooms are different sizes and there are other variables. And if you installed the units in the same room on different days then you have different days with different temperatures, humidity, wind speed, and cloud cover variables.
I wish I could make it more scientific and precise but I don't have a Mythbusters budget :)
Temperature test is what’s going to separate the 2. Mini split system is going to be better than both of those options and consume far less watts.
Hoa is like living under your parents permission ALL the time for Everything. Plus paying extra rent $$$
Nice vid, but It still comes down to specs though, A single hose unit even 12k btu (newer SACC DOE of 8150 ) for example will still cool better then this, There are 14,000 single units to with SACC of 10,000 etc, The hoses on port ac's are a large part of inefficiency probs too as they radiate heat back in the room and should come insulated, Midea company has an interesting fairly new unit out too now & also some other brands put there name on it, that incorporates a new hose in hose design, If you have seen that one ? I'd like to try that one.
Yes, the hoses leave a bit to be desired. And the window kits, too. I wish they came with some sort of rubber/foam gasket material to surround the window kit and a wrap or sock or something that you could put around the hot side duct. But a hose in hose design would work great, too.
As far as a one ton single hose unit outperforming this one... I'm not 100% convinced. With the negative pressure issue and using already conditioned air to cool itself and exhaust outside... I would bet it would be pretty close.
@@LDSreliance good Ole reflectix foil wrap works great, you can also find some insulators online.
Wow it uses less energy than my bitcoin miners.
Bitcoin miners are good to run during the winter because they are basically space heaters, but I couldn't imagine running them during the summer.
@@SpykerSpeed I built a box on my porch. They make great clothes driers.
Haha, great use for that heat!
