Cool job - a wee comment, the first layer or two of fabric around the hot pipe should be stainless steel wool to better tolerate the heat. Glass wool tends to burn out quite quickly so you will notice the sound getting louder fairly soon. It's okay for riveted mufflers where you can change the wadding very quickly but for a welded affair it's gonna be a pain in the arse to replace...
@Empty-07 I mean yes and no, expensive af gear but it looked like he just had that gear, now for the average joe, you can usually find someone with a welder or any of the grinder material stuff. (As for why he used a stick weld, I couldn’t tell ya)
@@haydendavid3248 welder and grinder are probably the least problem, you buy once and forget. I wonder about vertical drill, and the ability to weld properly...
You inspired me. I will not by akra axhaust right now. First ill try to do the same but with a smaller diameter tube and try to make a S shape with holes, not a straight large pipe like u did.
This is a great idea, BUT for $130 or less you could have got a China exhaust, with all the labor does not make sense and you still have a ton of weight. A+ for effort.
I dont think so. If u include cost for the machine and tools to do this, then maybe. But just the steel pipe, then it would cost very little. A full system cost over $1000 where I am from
I did the same thing on my exhaust, and got a great sound. But the engine lost a little power, is it necessary to remap after the exhaust modification?
Hi mate! 🙋🏻♂️ Do you think this modification is possible also with the new generation od MT07 (2021+) where CAT is located in the pipes (and not in the exhaust chamber)? Thanks in advance! 🤙🏼
Sharing my experience, just finished this for my 2018 XSR700 1) This takes a lot of time and is a pain in the ass. Easily 8 hours in disassembly, drilling & prep - At least 6 hours tig welding the thing back together 2) I used a cheap AutoZone 2"-2.5" exhaust reducer - Summit 1" - 1.5" vibrant fitting - 1" bent pipe that was inside the exhaust & packed with HLX-160-1112 from Summit too 3) The jump at 2:08 is very deceiving, cutting the can in half on the outside is not terrible, maybe an hour. Then you will spend forever cutting out all of the seam welds, and you have to cut them all out or else the thing wont come apart. When you go to weld it back together I cut scrap stainless pieces to fill all the massive seam weld holes, there was like 8-10 patches. 4) Drill as many holes in your pipe as possible, I didn't have enough the first go around, it was unbelievably loud and sounded like dog water. So I had to cut it back open and drill more holes. Fortunately, cutting it open 2nd go around is very fast to weld back together, took maybe 20 min. 5) I left the header attached the whole time. I ended up cutting the top half off, unlike the bottom half in this video. Id probably recommend cutting the bottom out, sucks either way and there wont be much difference. To get the cat out I cut the 3" pipe holding it in down the top, pried it open, cut the pieces i pried off, leaving you with half a pipe, then pried away till i got it out, then cut the rest of that 3" pipe. Reason I did this in the first place is I've cut several other exhausts open on bikes I've owned, all can style though, like on my duke 390, crf450x, crf250x, klr650 and removed baffles. All of them were very easy and quick. This was a different beast. If you can cut and weld, you can do this, and id still recommend it.
wish this comment will get notice, i have a questions. 1. does the holes on the perforation part give it less power? 2. does the size of the chamber choke performance? thank you
in general, to my knowledge, it might happen that if you "open" the exhaust you lose some power at low regime and gain some power at high regime. nothing a good map can't fix btw
I like the stock sound, very nice not worth in my opinion to buy akrapovic or something else.. 1. you going to have problems with police 2. you cant pass the motorcycle service if you dont have stock parts.
Good for you man. I like the stock sound, so for me there is no point paying 1700 euros for not almost but close sound. Because if i wanted the good sound i have to remove the db killer. Doing that i will have problems with police. This is what i sayd in the first comment. So yeah :)
@@iamvenk0Where are you from ? I remember getting pulled of on my yamaha YZF 125 with db out :D they were super mad about it, but they let me go without any penalty
whaaaat?? why would you go through all that nonsense of cutting it up and then welding it back together instead either doing a full decat of just putting a slip on on it? what a load of bollocks.

top notch job. you're a legend
I am shocked and amazed!
This sounds awesome!!! Better than actual exhausts too! Wish you could do this for mine lol
Bad ass man. Great job, nice work
Increíble trabajo , espectacular...
Muchas gracias por el vídeo.
Whoaw this impresses me. I'm going to buy a second hand exhaust for my tracer 7 to experiment in the same way you did. Thanks for the inspiration.
Pretty nice and sounds as good as the expensive ones
Great video!
Thank you Luka 🙏
Genius!!! Thanks!!!
Nice job.
Awesome! Thank you.
can you please list the material that you used? like the diameter of the tube and angle tubes plz?
Thx.
Much cheaper than a new system. Good job

hahaha amazing 👏
sneaky straight pipe :D
I'm not easily impressed but this is the most impressive thing I've seen on UA-cam regarding a MT-07. It sounds Awesome 👍😎. Consider me a subscriber.
Dobaaar!
Hello AV good job well done
Thank you!
Where did you get the piece of stainless steel piping?
This is a great idea, BUT for $130 or less you could have got a China exhaust, with all the labor does not make sense and you still have a ton of weight. A+ for effort.
It makes sense for plAces where copa fine u for have customizations
It probably costs more to do this whole operation than it does to get an aftermarket exhaust system.
I dont think so. If u include cost for the machine and tools to do this, then maybe. But just the steel pipe, then it would cost very little. A full system cost over $1000 where I am from
Even if it does cost more which i doubt , having his own made exhaust is a lot more fun 👍
@@vennemans9113 That is true. An engaging project
If you have got the tools I don’t think its expensive
@lonescoota9542 He literally had to buy all the packing, though.
very good. I also have Honda CBR600RR motorcycles the sound is very loud. the police make a remark😜
Maybe a bit late to ask, but do you know the lengths of the tube sections?
I have a different idea and that info would be very useful.
Can you do Yamaha R3/MT03 as well ? Ive been looking for R3/MT03 but I cant find one
Can you do this on Yamaha MT03?
Can I mail you my stock exhaust to have this done?
Yes go ahead.
You'd be paying more than buying an aftermarket slip on
I did the same thing on my exhaust, and got a great sound. But the engine lost a little power, is it necessary to remap after the exhaust modification?
Why do you need the cotton? And why make multiple holes in the inside pipe in the first place?
Is it possible to let the catalytic converter on with the same result?
Here in the Philippines we call it "kalkal pipe"
And What about emission checks? Would it pass an inspection?
Nice job, it looks stock but it's not. Please remove the db killer when you use the bike :)
Way to laud without it, I like it but others dont 🤣
"Factory" 🤣
Well shit that sounds good 👍 🤔
Hello what wadding do you use for it?

amazing 😍.. Can I do this to my honda Cb500x .. Bike is too silent 😢
Trust me if you just get an aftermarket muffler it will be plenty loud
Hi, wich dimensión for DB killer?
Questions!
@2:55 is this stainless?
@3:05 what is the material name he is holding? the curved short pipe.

you can basicly get the same sound by just drilling some holes around the front outlet under the cover and it takes about 5-10 minutes LMAO!

what size piping did you use
also what is the spacing and size of the holes you drilled
Might as well start a company
