Hi Jason! Beautiful execution! The only thing I don't like is that you have removed an important technique from the original kata and Shotokan repertoire in general, as shown in the Bassai sho by Kanazawa, Kagawa, Nakayama, Okuma and Shirai, is the sweep, the ashi barai done together with the jodan soto uke! Beyond that, your execution is beautiful and elegant!

8:12 I was recently talking with 7dan JKA Shotokan sensei and asking about this and the answer was fist should be at the same or almost at the same level (so if there would be a wall both hands should reach the wall) by turning your pelvis enough. Still I see so many experienced karatekas doing it like in this video (and I dont think its since their pelvis is not turning enough) so I still dont know the answer how it should be but I guess I should listen 7dan, confusing.

Yes and no. This and other kata are choreographed forms made up from pieces of skills, or kihon. While any of these kihon may be used for deflection, take down, escape, or strike, they are not meant to be used in a fight necessarily exactly as they are performed. Nor are they meant to be used in the exact order as in the kata. This is one of my favorite katas, although we perform it differently in Shito-Ryu. This version may be Shotokan.
