I don't understand the shotokan technique at the highest level. Vya is a follower of Oyama. But Ali shows the "fullness" of the form, the completeness of each technical element, internal composure. He's like a spring!The victory is deserved.

In my opinion the victory was well deserved, not a single doubt, even thou Ohan Dai has a bunch of extremely dificult technics, it is not about the kata choice only, it is about the performance, and in this particular match he tried to be so fast that a lot of parts with uraken and striking palms he did not finish the technich properly, seriously, in the first movement he did I said in my mind "he lost" thats why his presentation was 95% perfect at most, but Ali finished everysingle technich, even the shuto uchi with I always saw him doing strait to look faster and that cost him a victory against Kazumasa Moto once, he is now doing it the right way, a visible progress, not gonna lie, I was cheering for Damian because he has been second to Kiyuna all this time, but after watching, there is no doubt. That's why this little tricks to impress the judges can cust you the victory, there was 2 times where Ali couldn't turn on the heels, which is the right form of turning for shotokan, so his presentation was like 98% perfect, If Damian had just performed as fierced as Ali and corrected those unfineshed technichs maybe he had a better chance. Just look how sweat Ali is compared to Quintero when he fineshed the kata, it is clear that Ali put all his power in every thechnich and Quintero I saw "savin" effort at least 2 times (savin effort is diferent than perform slower parts) Both are incredible, Damian was amazing, he for sure could have been the number one, but now Ali deserved more.
Sometimes I feel so bad for Damian. Of course, Ali deserved to win against Damian (even thought I believe Nishiyama is better than both), but it's so sad, 8 damn years getting second place, 4 world championships...
At this high level the techniques are equally good. It all comes down to presence, aura, determination and spirit. As a Turk I am supposed to be biased but the truth is I liked both performances. Therefore you can’t base your argument on better technical abilities. However the aura and spirit of the Turkish athlete is certainly more powerful. He exerts strength and determination. Well deserved win. Congratulations and as for Spain better luck next time or not.😜
I loved both but Damians was better, mosty due to Ali's stances being way too deep but the difference between their skill levels is miniscule. Well done to both

The kata form shotokan mostly aren't speed based like shito-ryu it focuses on deep stances and techniques so compared to the fast kata from the other styles it doesn't look as good

Anoying and noisy audience during the kata performance. The Gojusjiho kata is quite good but the Kibadachi stance is too wide and his feet is aways pointed outside like shikodachi
I get it since he relied on more of the technique and it's sharpness. Ali won because of the power and spirit behind it even though it appeared less sharp
