i have not been to any welding class. But it was this Mr Good Jody whose videos inspired me and made me a welder. I am thankful to him a lot. He is great man.Love for u from my side
i ran dual shield at my old job, forgot the type i think it was 71m or like 71a75, came with cardboard type roll .045. i absolutely loved it, with the right settings i could run straight beads with no oscillation. could go vertical straight up. could run pipe no problem. really makes you look like you know what youre doing. down side it slag.
Interesting JD mentioned the Ridgid tristand... I have one I used for mainly threading pipe... BUT I found that thing to be oh so useful working on other things here on the farm. I have used it for thing I never even thought of... they are quite handy and amazingly stable.
Excellent video! I used dual shield right out of school, now I'm re-aquatinting myself with it 30ish years later. You and JD helped me remember valuable info. keep it up...
Dear Jody , Thank you for taking the time to make these great video's. Its was great to see J.D. Shop and how the other half lives, pipe welding is truly and art and a skill in it self Pete M
Dual Shield Flux Core is what i weld with everyday for anything and everything on all paving equipment and trucks used in paving and JD is 100% right.. Theres no doubt in DS Flux.. Its in there its strong and once you get used to it you can not only go faster but make much better looking welds than with Hardwire IMO! I honestly hate to weld with Hardwire now and ive welding with it for over 10 years before going to DS Flux!
Really happy that I can use this process in a 210 sized machine with c25 gas I already have. I started doing some side work and they use this process with the big 250-400A machines. I love how forgiving it is in all positions.
I love finding out how JD makes his operation more efficient. I want to start making money with my everlast equipment and hopefully make a job out of it. The hardest part is making sure I'm making money for as many minutes as I can.
Jody and JD, Thanks for another great lesson on pipe welding. I'm learning fab work at a hot rod shop now and plan to get into more focused welding work/school. This is a late life second career for me. Your videos are concise, informative and interesting. Keep up the great work.
This was great, seeing how large pipe welding is done makes you realize how much work goes into industrial welding. After hearing you guys on podcast its great to see you together doing a vid. cheers.
Seriously one great video that has provided a couple of potential solutions to some things I'm looking at for work. Thanks for going down to his shop and showing this Jody, and seriously some more collaboration is great on UA-cam!
Your channel just gets better! JD is going to add a lot of interest I believe. When added to your commentary and questions it adds another viewpoint. Great video as always and improving in spite of the fact that you were damn good already. Real welding without the BS. Thanks Jody. Doug
It's amazing seeing the skill and knowledge of guys that have been in the trade for decades. I love being a welder in my novice years seeing where I can be one day. If you're like me and need a job that you'll never Know It All and there's always something more to learn...Be a WELDER!
I know this isnt a huge pipe or anything but its funny to see so many people say you cant weld pipe period without a big engine drive and then see the great work done in this video.
+taewachien I didn't know that and thought that it is interesting to do it that way. I don't tig weld myself but I love watching it. Why can't you just touch the electrode itself on the metal to start the ark?
Jody just would like to say you have the best welding videos I've seen. your always to the point with a little humor. nice video with jd about welding pipe. jd and you for working with Jody on this video
Nice video, really nice welding. I really like the Lincoln Outershield and run a lot of .045" on anything important. A note should be added ,though, that the fumes are much worse than with hardwire. I consider a good respirator, or powered filter helmet system almost mandatory. I really like the state of the art Miller set-up that my employer shelled out 1500 bucks for me to have!
Can we see some more of the .035 Lincoln Outersheild wire. Maybe some cut and etch vs bare mig wire? I know u already did mig over milscale but maybe a follow up with gasless and gas-shielded on this 210mp is a good next step? Awesome content! Keep up the good work Jody!
awesome guys. Haven't seen much on dual shield, I tried searching for it before I started work a few years ago but never any luck, was a bit nervous about welding with it. I work welding with 1/16 and 3/32 wire. 1/16 is our small wire that we do our verticals with. I love it when the slag just peels itself off. Hope you continue to do more with it so you can give some good advice or techniques on it.
Thanks again for all the good techniques and tips. Talent like this is a gift that only a few ever master and you guys seem to this amateur to both be masters.
You and Jimmy need to make a video together Jody. I watch both you guys religiously. Even some videos Jimmy says he gets his welding skills from your videos.
I made that happen, I got them together on-site for 2 days. I'm sure some videos will be out in the next few weeks.... I really wanted to see them together too
good housekeeping, keeping the work area tidy. im forever telling people off about that lol. i must say u americans are way more enthusiastic about metal fusion than the british in general
The spatter from the dual shield vs. 7018 bugs me a little. Great video and great work. It's nice to hear from folks with such experience what tool to get for a startup.
Just picked up the 210 mp, haven't got a chance to try it yet, as I'm drywalling and finishing my shop.. but can't wait to get into it! I think it's going to pay for itself in short order.
So. I just watched a weld made pulling with a slagging process. The weld has a good appearance and you can literally see the strength. When I was in tech school, ( not saying I'm old, but we had to feed & water the horse after we got there ) ; we were taught to pull anything that produced slag so we could see the material rather than the slag. So ???
Another great video! Thanks and it’s darn sure a small world. I’m a CWI living in Dallas Ga near you guys. These videos are really informative and interesting. Good stuff.
Awesome video. Rigid pipe beveller looks awesome. I really like the part at the end as well... really useful knowledge for real world financial moves. You guys work well together. Looking forward to more stuff.
Good to see more dual shielded flux core. I'd love to see more videos on it.... ESPECIALLY...diagnosing issues between voltage, wire feed speed, and stick out. Huge thanks for the advice on the pipe beveler as well as the input on the $2000 question. JD, is that hood cut down?
Hay JD and Jody, Great video! Nice to some of Georgia's finest at work. Never considered the Lincoln 210mp before. I think if i didn't go with the 210mp I'd go back with what I currently use is the Everlast 200DX and its been a good machine for $1,100 bucks and the Dewalt 6" grinders are the best and locally stocked. Thx!
Hey Jodi could you do a short video of the method JD used to fire off the torch. It looked like he dragged his filler metal on the material and touched the electrode in the process to get it started. It was at 5:15. Thanks for all that you do for welding.
Great deals on Craigslist .... People buy welders and they are slightly used, most of the time. Usually they will sell everything they have ... Bottle , Clamps, Grinder, etc. for great deal. Their loss will be your gain. I got a millermatic 211 for 800 bucks with a grinder , some clamps , welders gloves (miller) Welding mask and consumables . Drove 2 1/2 hours each way but was well worth it. Even had the original miller box in the garage. I saved at least 1500. Just sayin if you want to save some money.
Heh, saw someone "comb" a stretch of road with one of those rolling magnets, wasn't branded (as far as i could tell) slightly larger, but otherwise identical, even the wheels were the same.
Great video as always! Well I just bought the Everlasting 210 ext primarly for smaller aluminum and stainless jobs. That's a nice looking setup for mig and tig at a heck of a good price. I had some bad experiences with malfunctioning mig welder and improper setup over the years but that combination seems like the cats meow. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for answering my question. you are one of the few that takes the time to do so. far to many times i ask a question and it never gets answered so, thank you. Jody, do you as well recommend the Lincoln MVP210? I'm looking to buy a welder and was considering the Miller Thunderbolt XL ac/dc. Thanks again
+jimgam730 I do recommend the 210mp as well. I have no idea how long they hold up since they are an inverter power source and they have only been on the market a short time. But JD has been working his hard.
I seen and worked around dual shield being used and welders doing unethical work and was machined finish with no voids . I was told the shield will remelt and raise up in a machine shop . that was there process and was shocked .
***** I am saying they weld over top of the flux . It's very thin and melts again . Yes I do agree but they machined the weld in a lathe and most time was perfect . The work was done for well drilling industry
Double J Fab. Has a nice ring to it don't you think 😉. Thanks Jody for posting this. I always like learning about different tools and techniques used in different industries and those pipe beverlers and the clamping tool was pretty neat I thought to see in action. Oh one question if you don't mind, as you hooked in the 110v plug part I noticed a quick connect on the machine that normally requires you to thread in the hose/fitting. Could you point me in the right direction as where to find that part. I think it's pretty keen and saves threading in the hose fitting. Great stuff as usual big thumbs up I really enjoyed this one fellas. -Pidge.
When I weld high pressure white water or steam pipe we use weldolet fittings that have three studs that set the gap and it centers and backs the root pass. I only go up to 2.5 inch pipe, does anyone do this on bigger stuff?
You know what I can't seem to find? I can't seem to find anyone that has posted a youtube video on running pipe completely out of position with fluxcore. I know it can be done and easily I might add, because that's what I do. One of my qualifications is to weld 4130 high pressure pipe with 80s-d2 tig root and hot pass and E101t-1gm in any position. It would be handy to have such videos for others to learn from. I cannot simply because I do not have my own facilities and equipment to post my own. Nor do i posses the skill and knowledge to record myself and edit a presentable video for the instruction of such a process.
So in the beginning he said he liked dual shield better then mig because of the speed and strength and then said mig has lack of fusion to millscale. Is he not prepping his pipe? Mig has NO issue with fusion when the metal prepared properly.
It’s not that mig can’t do it it’s just dual shield flux cord can do it better. Just compare hard wire mig to 7018 rod if you disagree then I guess that’s your opinion. Heavy duty mill scale and poor cleaning don’t really affect 7018 rod (ie dual shield flux cord)
What is the advantage of using dual shield wire over using spray transfer? Both offer good strength and penetration. The only advantage I see is dual shield uses more common (which usually means cheaper) shielding gas. But dual shield wire is more expensive. So what am I missing? I've done some spray transfer but I've never got my hands on any dual shield.
We weld a lot of stainless mig and tig and only carry 98/2 argon/oxy and pure argon ,I found I like the 98/2 gas better than carbon gas for ferrous steel too ,it seems to burn cleaner only alun would I use the 100% gas ,I don't know if this means anything as to strength of weld for mild steel can you advise? For stainless they usually recommend the 98/2 gas but for mild its the 75/25 carbon gas .I guess they don't want to buy all these different gases because we need cutting gas too ,so it makes for easier ordering.
Question for Jody or anyone: Does the MP210 handle 10 lb spools? I think the smallest size 71M wire is in 10 lb spools. I was also looking at the Millermatic 211, but I am not sure that will handle 10 lb spools either None of the machine specs for either the 210MP or miller machines provide details on the spool sizes. I've never owned a MIG machine, but looking into getting one. Currently I been doing just TIG welding, which is fine for light/precision welding, but not really good for heavily/thick welding. I currently have a Miller 200DX which I am extremely happy with. I would rather go with with the Millermatic 211 instead of the Lincoln 210MP since I don't really need the TIG, and use the lower cost of a just MIG machne for accessories (ie longer MIG gun cord length, consumbles, etc). --Thanks
What is dual shield welding? What would you spend your money on? And how is this process better than stick welding? Usually your videos don't leave me with a lot of questions don't get me wrong still very good love your channel. Stick welding doesn't mind the dirt, wind and has generally great penetration making it a good process for job sites.
Dual shield= fluxcore mig wire + shielding gas(75/25) Very similar to stick welding 7018, but much faster all around I weld with dual shield fluxcore outside a lot. Only really strong wind bothers it. JD
The JD collaboration vids are timeless. I'm so greatful that you took the time to do this for the welding world.
i have not been to any welding class. But it was this Mr Good Jody whose videos inspired me and made me a welder. I am thankful to him a lot. He is great man.Love for u from my side
Thank you guys for your time! Putting these videos together is no small task!
.045 Lincoln 71A85 Ultracore. Run it on my Lincoln Power Mig 210 MP using 75/25. Runs excellent with voltage to spare. Love it!
I’ve been welding for 30 years and just picked up my 1st roll of Lincoln outershield .045-can’t wait to try it.
Amateur welder here...😲 the way he lights up the torch with the filler rod, like striking a match!!! Greetings from Mexico
Greetings from California!
"power cable adapter thingy"...WHOA WHOA WHOA...ease up with the technical jargon

Who the 5 people that dislike this? Mr. Tig (counts for 2) and his camera man, ChuckE2000 and his assistant Rosie Palmer?
YankeeinSC1 I couldn't stand mr tig
YankeeinSC1 I stopped watching Chucke since he turned off the comments.
I agree mr tig was annoying as hell
I like Mr. Tig. ChuckE is getting a little cynical.
Lmao!!!! Damn Mr. Tig

Love that "Ridgid" bevel machine - nice. Great pipe welding demo.
+ChrisB257 $3000.00
+Hollis Inman (Jack) fancy bevel machine $3000 learning to bevel with a 9 inch angle grinder priceless
I love finding out how JD makes his operation more efficient. I want to start making money with my everlast equipment and hopefully make a job out of it. The hardest part is making sure I'm making money for as many minutes as I can.
like the way JD starts his tig arc!,pretty slick.Looks like dual shield flux core is giving 7018 stick some competition....
Jody and JD,

keep up the good work!!!
I also own and love those organizers. I also love the waterproof black ones made by rigid. Super tough and waterproof!
Thank you Jody and JD for sharing your knowledge on welding it is appreciated
learned this trial and error at training course.....never had done mag, but helped I did mig in school
I know this isnt a huge pipe or anything but its funny to see so many people say you cant weld pipe period without a big engine drive and then see the great work done in this video.
Nice striking technique (8:49). More JD please.
+taewachien I didn't know that and thought that it is interesting to do it that way. I don't tig weld myself but I love watching it. Why can't you just touch the electrode itself on the metal to start the ark?
+PyroShim You could get a tungsten inclusion that could show up on an X-ray
+Diego Gutierrez Thank you, that makes sense.
+taewachien Thanks. Interesting stuff, I will look into it.

The spatter from the dual shield vs. 7018 bugs me a little. Great video and great work. It's nice to hear from folks with such experience what tool to get for a startup.
Thanks for making these videos! You make it look so easy. I make my daughters watch these as well because... girls gotta know how to weld too!
Just picked up the 210 mp, haven't got a chance to try it yet, as I'm drywalling and finishing my shop.. but can't wait to get into it! I think it's going to pay for itself in short order.
una maravilla de soldaduras amigo...

I'd really like to see some more videos with JD and duel shield welding. I know you have some others with him but I'd like to see more
Use stringers JD that heat input especially from dual shield can soften that metal quite a bit
First time I welded duel shield, right away made me think of 7024.
perfect video, I mostly do structural and am looking to upgrade on welder. and the Lincoln 210 is on my wish list. just confirmed my choice
Awesome video. Rigid pipe beveller looks awesome. I really like the part at the end as well... really useful knowledge for real world financial moves. You guys work well together. Looking forward to more stuff.
I'm sure someone has asked this, but what would you start over with Jodi? For 2000$
enjoy the fitting stuff that's what I do daily and I use stabila levels
Good to see more dual shielded flux core. I'd love to see more videos on it....
ESPECIALLY...diagnosing issues between voltage, wire feed speed, and stick out.
Huge thanks for the advice on the pipe beveler as well as the input on the $2000 question.
JD, is that hood cut down?
Good info in here as usual, never seen a pipe beveller before, would be a great tool for pipe welders
never realized you could light the arc with scratch start by flickin it with the filler rod. ill have to try that sometime!
Hey Jodi could you do a short video of the method JD used to fire off the torch. It looked like he dragged his filler metal on the material and touched the electrode in the process to get it started. It was at 5:15. Thanks for all that you do for welding.
Amazing video😀. My Christmas list is slowly growing.
Such Valuable Information.......Thank You For Your Priceless Wisdom and Experience.....
Fantastic! great getting new perspectives and seeing new processes/applications.
Great deals on Craigslist .... People buy welders and they are slightly used, most of the time. Usually they will sell everything they have ... Bottle , Clamps, Grinder, etc. for great deal. Wow so such a thick material could be welded with so little amps? Nice.
I love the beard cover attached to the welding mask
Protects your neck from hot sparks and UV radiation too.
Heh, saw someone "comb" a stretch of road with one of those rolling magnets, wasn't branded (as far as i could tell) slightly larger, but otherwise identical, even the wheels were the same.
I prefer just hard wire. If you know how to run it, it is very nice looking and no slag at all.
Спасибо за видео. Удачи и ждём остальных видео.
Hello my brother, from California
Great video as always! Well I just bought the Everlasting 210 ext primarly for smaller aluminum and stainless jobs. That's a nice looking setup for mig and tig at a heck of a good price. I had some bad experiences with malfunctioning mig welder and improper setup over the years but that combination seems like the cats meow. Thanks for posting.
Sorry Everlast
Thanks for yr experience it has helped me a lot there is still alot that I don't know and yr vedios has help me alot
Ya that dude is awesome . Are there any other videos with him?
Thanks for answering my question. you are one of the few that takes the time to do so. far to many times i ask a question and it never gets answered so, thank you.
Jody, do you as well recommend the Lincoln MVP210? I'm looking to buy a welder and was considering the Miller Thunderbolt XL ac/dc. Thanks again
+jimgam730 I do recommend the 210mp as well. I have no idea how long they hold up since they are an inverter power source and they have only been on the market a short time. But JD has been working his hard.
Out done yourself again very interesting video and subject.
Take us back to the days you could buy that welder and more for 2 grand!!
I like the leather beard guard
I cant count the miles of .045 flux core wire ive run, and its fast and strong, especially with the base metal clean
welding at my buddy's shop tomorrow
That Milwaukee beveller is the Cats Pajamas, no I mean the Bee's knee's.
***** Thanks, must a had Old Milwaukee on my mind...
Thank you for the video, gentlemen.
I seen and worked around dual shield being used and welders doing unethical work and was machined finish with no voids . I was told the shield will remelt and raise up in a machine shop . that was there process and was shocked .

Had fun watching . Thanks for sharing 😊
Hi, Jody could you please make a video about back feeding of the rod through gap and looking through the gap technic on 6g?
That was great ...Cant wait for some more videos like that one.....Thanks Don M.
great video brother. Simple, understanding, fast.👍
nice nod to Jimmy diresta in the intro! keep up the great videos!
I didn't see a change in voltage so im assuming the flux core was also ran on the 120v plug?
you should do a root bend 1g test with 6010 and make a video and help out the younger viewers
Jodi, Thanks for the when and why you would us it as well as the how to use it. That helps allot. R.J.
In Australia, we're not allowed to weave if using dual-shield FC.
When I weld high pressure white water or steam pipe we use weldolet fittings that have three studs that set the gap and it centers and backs the root pass. I only go up to 2.5 inch pipe, does anyone do this on bigger stuff?

What is the advantage of using dual shield wire over using spray transfer? Both offer good strength and penetration. The only advantage I see is dual shield uses more common (which usually means cheaper) shielding gas. But dual shield wire is more expensive. So what am I missing? Question for Jody or anyone:
Does the MP210 handle 10 lb spools? I think the smallest size 71M wire is in 10 lb spools.
I was also looking at the Millermatic 211, but I am not sure that will handle 10 lb spools either
None of the machine specs for either the 210MP or miller machines provide details on the spool sizes.

I prefer hard wire. Flux core runs very hot and leaves slag. Hard wire runs cooler,,, no slag and better looking in my opinion
What is dual shield welding? What would you spend your money on? And how is this process better than stick welding? Usually your videos don't leave me with a lot of questions don't get me wrong still very good love your channel. Stick welding doesn't mind the dirt, wind and has generally great penetration making it a good process for job sites.
Dual shield= fluxcore mig wire + shielding gas(75/25)
Very similar to stick welding 7018, but much faster all around
I weld with dual shield fluxcore outside a lot. Only really strong wind bothers it.

Hellow brother, from California!
so that dual shield flux core is the strongest of the welders for its endurance?.
