Sometimes the old solder won't mix with the new solder, and you have to remove the old solder COMPLETELY, unleaded solder is garbage to work with. You need to have a lot of solder wick and clear flux available. Also, unleaded solder is the #1 cause of ripped traces and pads.
Hi I'm working on that asrock b450 itx motherboard. It had shoted mosfet on cpu phase(changed) and 1 cap on bottom side(changed). Led driver is probably shotted too because voltage on one leg of this chip is 0.5v to 5v (its in loop rising and falling) its's RT7905 and i cant find datasheet :/ But its only led driver so mb should work without it. When i desolder it on the same leg is 5v all the time. If i start mb on all cpu phases is 1v1 for a few seconds only. Other voltage are present. So i tried to flash bios with the newest on official site and it doesnt help. Its not normal extension so i have to rename file to bin to flash the bios. When i tried to read ic after flashing its looks ok but it behaves as I described. Maybe somone has this mb and can send me bios whichone is tested on newer cpus? I tried on two cpus 4650g and 5600g i dont have olders. Idk what to check now. For me its looklike bad bios. I tested memory slots with tester it looks normal. I have boardview for this mb if somone need.
This seems like a really hard one. I would guess that there is still a voltage that isnt rising properly. Bios could be a porblem. Have you compared the sizes off the bioses that you can download and which you got from the chip?
*TIP* For Corrosion, First use White Vinegar via a Medium to Hard toothbrush followed by 99% Iso Propylene Alcohol. I suspect this was previously a Water cooled MoBo.. APU 👁🐝👍
Amazing amount of perseverance, that was a lot of damage indeed. Really great job and an inspiration.
Great repair, always a pleasure to watch
Very cool video ,great job

Ye, there was a lot of scraping to get the old solder to somewhat flow again!
A real shame about the audio, but luckily it’s watchable with subtitles. 😮
Jap, but i didnt want to scartch the video over it!
@ yup did the right thing mate, was a good video!
esa placa primero a batea de ultrasonido o a cepillo con agua caliente y detergente y despues este trabajo que hiciste
That does work well, but like this its easier to see, what needs resoldering!

You spent way more time than that board deserved :P
Well as i mostly say, its not about the money, but the experience!

I really should start doing that, thank you!
